While I have said I am fine with Wentz' silence treatment....even if Wentz likes to disconnect, he's got an agent whose job it is to know these things.  And the agent has a job to inform Wentz of what is going on.  I don't care at all...but Wentz has to be aware that there is a faction unhappy that he isn't talking.

I’m guessing Carson Wentz really doesn’t care about that faction because he probably also realizes that a good portion of that faction were the same ones to crapped all over him as soon as things went South and hurts look good for a game and a half.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I watched the whole thing. It can be a little hokey and cheesy at times but overall it was pretty good.

The ending of Suicide Squad was awful, it was a ripoff of Ghostbusters.

Honestly i think people would love him a lot more if he just played aggressive every game. When he’s aggressive the team tends to elevate their play and he gets to the line and gets buckets around the rim. The shooting i think is a multi year thing. The aggressiveness is simply playing like he does against the Lakers every game every night.

It drove me crazy when Jimmy Butler just took over his spot in finals because cause Ben wouldn’t go at the rim like he should.  You’re right, when he plays like that it’s a fun game to watch and the team is much better.  If he did that every night he would own the city.

Oh for sure. More fans would be receptive to him not being able to shoot jumpers consistently if you just played with that type of aggressiveness daily. If has that aggressive he’s going to get to the line at his size and with his speed at least 8 to 10 times again if not more. If he just got himself the 70% shooting from the line it would be huge for him.

I don’t know if the Sixers would be able to beat the nets but if Ben Simmons played with that type of aggressiveness and the Sixers somehow got themselves another shooter/score and could make Danny Green or Seth Curry come off the bench that team is ridiculously dangerous. I don’t know if they’re gonna be able to get that type of scorer without having to give up Ben Simmons.

And like myself and others on this board, he doesn't care.

I'm speculating here, but I actually think he does care.  We all just want to be loved.  Look at Mcnabb.  Look how much he cared about every single slight and critique that came his way in the media.  Could you imagine if that dude was our QB in the social media era?

Of course Wentz cares that approximately half the city (give or take) is bashing him and wants him gone.  Some people can persevere and function through that better than others, but no one wants to be in that situation.

I also think it goes to lurie and howie are delusional enough to believe wentz and hurts coming back would work and it won’t potentially blowup in their face. Unless Carson goes full watson i don’t think they are wanting to or looking to deal him also as schefter speculated.

I don’t know what leads you guys to believe that Wentz is that fragile and looking over his shoulder at a guy who played below average. If he is worried about Hurts he/we are in a heap a trouble.

Why would they trade him for pennies on the dollar considering the cap hit ? Stick him on the bench and let him watch if he has an unprofessional attitude which I’ve never seen but is being insinuated. Learning lesson or retribution, he’ll figure it out

hes an athlete in philadelphia. Every philadelphia athlete has a faction that is unhappy with him. It goes without saying. And these athletes cant waste time caring about that. Cause not everyone will ever be happy. If you are good, the fans will eventually run you out. Its what Philly fans do.

You really believe he cares? Half the city was blasting him after Nick Foles came in and nearly got the eagles to another NFC title game. At this point he’s been blasted over the last three years more than he’s been praised except for the four-game stretch in 2019. I don’t think he really cares.would he prefer the fans love him? Yeah I think he would prefer it. But I don’t think it dictates how he lives his life or affects him when he’s at home or outside the football field.

I think he cares more about Jesus loving him and his religion than the Philadelphia fan base.  Frankly he probably say something like well God does everything for a reason and he will show him the way.

Just pointing out giroux and Ryan Howard are two of the better players in the history of the Phillies and the Flyers and yet fans turned on both of them. Let’s not pretend like the Philadelphia fan base is always great to athletes who have had great success here.

I never said he was looking over his shoulder. I think Carson Wentz was just pissed off that they drafted a quarterback in round 2 after 2019 and the way he finish the season that year. The Eagles try to play it off like he wasn’t upset and he was all for it. I called BS. I think he was irritated and ticked off that they didn’t add how more talent around him so he could have more success than taking a "back up quarterback”.

i think fans are going to flip and complain even more IF he’s traded and plays elsewhere and is good.

He would be completely off the books this year if traded, but the optics would not sit well with Lurie.  He is not going to take the biggest dead cap hit in NFL history.

This is amusing, you used to be Mr Philadelphia does not deserve a QB like Carson Wentz.

And I will go look at the archived board, but I am pretty sure you got banned before the Eagles won the playoff game vs the Falcons.  Good thing that all the relevant Super Bowl related threads were archived.

I was banned banned during the playoffs and wasn't unbanned until after the Super Bowl.  But I didn't get my permanent ban until late in the 2018 season.

And I was right.  The organization over the years pissed him off enough that it is pretty apparent that he no longer wants to play for this organization.  The only thing that has changed is he was so bad this year and it made watching the team so completely unenjoyable that I now think it is best for both parties if Wentz got a fresh start somewhere else.

Ugh, I know, and I know he isn’t a great fit with Embiid unless he plays like that 90% of the time. Depending on Kyrie getting his act together and it’s likely he will by the playoffs, the Sixers will need a scorer in place of Simmons, someone like Bradley Beal will suffice, lol.

Unfortunately if you trade Simmons then you really have no one to matchup durant defensively. They need Simmons for his defense but they also need another scorer badly. Ideally if they could get someone like lavine and keep Simmons it would be a huge win for the sixers. Unlikely though

Make no mistake about it, he’s well aware of what is being said.

But probably of low interest, if any.  A lot of athletes don’t read the press and barely pay attention to it.  Why would they want to do so?

Like I said, I expect he is more interested in his young wife and new baby.  He is still newly married and a new father.   When my firstborn was about the age of his daughter, I changed jobs a half a continent away and my wife and daughter stayed behind until we sold the house.  Long four months.  I would fly home regularly and spend all my time with my wife and daughter.  I am not sure Carson’s wife and daughter lived in Philly during the season but regardless, he is just barely on vacation with them and, oh by the way, just got a new boss.

Wouldn’t be surprised, to the extent it is allowed under league rules if all players are talking with their position coaches, Sirianni, their coordinators, quite possibly Carson as much as any of them.  Further, I suspect, given the cap situation and his impact on it that he is spending time with his agent discussing Howie’s proposed restructure.  That would be a full day.

I expect his agent has told him to ignore the press and he is doing just that.  Heck, I suspect he ignores what the press writes most of the time.

Two years after winning the Super Bowl Lurie makes Doug fire two coaches, after he announces their jobs are safe and now we should believe Doug and his coaching staff had all this influence in the Draft?   If Doug went 9-7 for three straight years he would of been fired, maybe after two since he wasn’t Lurie’s pick of the litter.

Howie has final say on the draft, FA’s and the 53 man roster, and he’s had that since Chip was fired.

As far as Wentz is concerned and how he played this past season or his attitude, maybe the Eagles didn’t give a crap that he had a concussion, or maybe he felt that way. Either way, go watch 5-6 games from his rookie year and do the same for this year, he played like a guy that has brain damage.   You don’t lose pocket awareness as a veteran QB, and you don’t just start throwing more ints in 10 games than in your previous 2 years.

Almost every GM has final say on the draft, FA's and the 53 man roster. So what's the point?

Most, if not all, GMs depend on their "football people," b/c even if you're a former player or scout, once in the GM's office you simply don't have time to sit in the film room and watch hours of video each day. So it comes down to which football people (scouts, senior personnel guys, and coaches) you listen to. If you ignore your coaches, you're gonna have a roster of misfit toys (players who don't fit the schemes), if you ignore your scouts, you're gonna make some bad decisions. So all GMs face the quandary of how to balance the various opinions in the organization.

ideally, you want everyone on the same page, but that requires coaches with a coherent vision who can communicate that vision to your personnel people. It doesn't seem that was the Eagles the last few years.

Exactly. They did it to Ryan howard. They are currently doing so with giroux (frankly i think they should’ve dealt him a couple years back when they were in a semi-rebuild). They’ll run embiid out eventually. Very few philly athletes don’t get the ire of philly fans and ran out of the city. Dawkins, utley were about the only two i know. Even Hamels after he was WS mvp got crap the following year especially when he  he made the comment about wanting the year to be over.

Here is a fun next topic. So why do you say Wentz is a "cancerous force within the organization"?

Id love to here the examples and sources on this one, lol.

When the anonymous source stories popped up in 2018 I disregarded it.  When they popped up again in 2019 I also disregarded it.  We have also heard various reports and talk since then of how he isn't the most accepting to criticism and being coached.  So there has been a lot of smoke over the years.  Then this past year happens and we still keep hearing the same things.  AT a certain point you gotta admit that where there is this much smoke for this long that there is fire.  We even have people with their name on it like Jenkins basically admitting that Wentz wasn't the most coachable player and the organization were treating him with child gloves.  He obviously had issues with the now former HC as well.

New coach young first time HC, a roster that will be rebuilt over the next few years and a lot of young guys currently on offense.  Everything surrounding Wentz doesn't strike me as a great lead by example type of player you want to rebuild your franchise around.  As much as I think Hurts is ultimately limited in his potential as a QB he strikes me as someone much more worthwhile to go with in a rebuild than Wentz.  He is an extremely humble and hard working individual that has faced a lot of adversity through his college career and never complained, never was an issue he just focused on improving and that work ethic is something can rub off on young players.  On the flipside someone who openly disregards what coaches are trying to coach him on or refusing to run certain plays in practice and just carrying himself as if he is above how everyone else on the team is treated would be a bad influence on a soon to be very young overall rebuilding roster.

Just bring back Foles and be done with it. #eaglesgoat

There’s only three returns I’d like to see in 2021...

1. Nick Foles to the Eagles

2. Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi

3. Shocker back to EMB

There was a lot of people saying he was brittle and injury prone when he was here. He wasn’t run out of town basically got rid of him before the end like he was in SF.

Just saying mccoy after his rookie year had an entire thread saying he was a bust.

I think he's maintained that he doesn't pay attention to the media.  I think he probably isn't happy and wouldn't be unhappy if he was traded somewhere he could get a fresh start.  I doubt he is so unhappy that he would be willing to pay back some of his contract to lessen the cap hit.

After the season he just had, he should be unsatisfied, self critical and a little unhappy. He got bashed because of a demolished OL and bad play calls by Pederson and Press.  He had the yips too.  So he is enjoying his vacation and reflecting.   But he doesn’t need to leave to get a fresh start.  He is getting that with the Eagles.  New coaches that will scheme to his strengths.  Look at the QBs that Sirianni has primarily had, Rivers and Luck.   More similar to Carson than Hurts.  I imagine after the Saints game, Carson probably thought something like "oh crap” but after the last game, that initial feeling went away.

Idk i loved that run the Phillies had from 07-11. Like when the Phillies are rocking like that i love watching them. The 93 team had its characters. The Phillies right now stink because they didn’t build it properly when they sucked and the draft in developing was awful. If they would’ve done it properly that place would be rocking especially when they got Realmuto and Harper
