What's worse?  A cap hit for the next 4 seasons for a really bad QB that carries himself as if he is above his teammates and is resistant to being coached or a cap hit that is gone after one season if Wentz is traded within the first 2 days of the new league year?

Once QB's sign new deals this and next off season, Wentz' deal will not even be top 10.  After this year his deal will be a bargain compared to others.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Problem with your first statement, Carson Wentz hasn't spoken, but you have made up your mind on facts without anything being said.

Why would they make any definitive statements to the media ??  The will make their intentions known to the people who need to know, and that is not you, me, or anyone on this board.

Your track record makes it hard to take your assessment seriously, especially considering that no one has spoken about the situation.

But keep hanging on to your belief that Wentz will be gone for the next 45 days, and then when he is here on March 20th, you can move on.

Why would they make any definitive statements to the media?

Because he is, in your mind, still their franchise QB.  Why wouldn't they?  Why did they instead dance around it and just refer to Wentz as an asset (multiple times).

It would be a bargain if Wentz was a top 10 QB.  Unfortunately that is not what he is.  He has had a historic decline and after this past season is one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL (if he even is the starting QB on this team if the Eagles aren't able to find a trade partner).  His contract is no bargain for the level of QB he has become.

I heard on the radio today that Troy Aikman made a comment about Eagles fans have lost their edge since the SB win.

Anyone else hear this or seen it?  I couldn't find it anywhere and not even sure what the statement means.

He must have seen all these Wentz Washers lol.

Ohio State

I don’t get wrapped up In all that. If a guy can play doesn’t matter where he went.

I know Ohio st have had some bad QBs but Fields is not Dwayne Haskins.

Hurts is a back up QB. Nothing more. I’ll admit I wanted him to start last season cause I still wanted to make playoffs and though he was best to get us there at season.

Fields is better than Hurts. Bigger arm better accuracy better production. He actually makes reads and goes through progrssions before running.

I only have one problem with Fields — I watched his highlight tape at OSU, then I watched video of his selected games posted on YouTube.  Then I did the same thing with Dwayne Haskins who preceded him at OSU.  Haskins looked like the better prospect — better pocket passer, quicker to go through progressions, more pro ready.  Fields is a better runner, that’s about it.
Rick Neuheisel coached college for many years, and had the firm opinion that Fields needs to go back for another year of college.

If I’m drafting a QB in the top 5-10 picks I’m looking for upside.  Lawrence of course has better upside, but so do Zach Wilson and Trey Lance.  I wouldn’t draft Fields any earlier than 4th QB off the board.

That’s fine we can disagree. I think if you can draft a franchise QB no matter the state of the team you do it. I see him as one.

I’m not against taking a quarterback if you love the kid and think he’s a franchise quarterback. I don’t think any of the three after Trevor Lawrence are that.

I would rather build up my roster then take a chance on any one of those three. They might become franchise quarterbacks (i have my doubts all do- i think this winds up being like Rosen, Allen and darnold where one is a bust, one gets put in a bad spot and the other probably becomes a very good QB) but I don’t think they’re worthy of the six pick unless you absolutely love them. And I don’t absolutely love any of those QBs. I absolutely loved Deshaun Watson the year he came out. I thought it was ridiculous he fell to 12. I am more than willing to say take a quarterback even if you’re not ready roster wise if you love one like I loved watson when he came out. However I don’t feel that way about any of those three. I think they’re not even in the same class as Watson was who somehow fell to 12.

The Rams wanted to get rid of Goff so much they sent a 1st to get rid of him.
Everything the Eagles have done publicly is support Wentz + fire the coach he hated.

We're not giving him away.

That could leak from one of the teams calling honestly

Why would the calling team leak it when that could help drum up more interest and therefore raise the price?

Just another example of Washer DENIAL.

Didn't the article even say that they do not want to trade him? I mean I guess if a team made them an offer that "blew them away"

You have to say that though because there’s always the possibility a trade doesn’t happen. I hope they meant it, AND Wentz wants to remain in Philly, but I wouldn’t expect them to confirm that they want him gone.

Someone is going to want to draft Lance in the top 10.  Bank on it.  Either it’s us or we can trade back.  But someone will want him.

Yup. I will say this i believe some analysts during this process is going to say he can be a Patrick mahomes light before this is all over. Not that i think that but i can see some nfl analysts who loves him putting that out there

I disagree. I had Haskins as a bust I said so last year on here (or the old EMB) and Fields looks like a better prospect to me.

I wouldn’t take Lance till round 3. I like Zach Wilson but in the 15-32 range.

I can totally see that as well, for two simple reasons

Fact1: Player comps are super fun, and the 'experts' and analysts know it.

Fact2: Hot takes are provocative and generate interest (both positive and negative)

I’d be willing to make a friendly wager that Wilson winds up going before fields. I only think this because i think the Jets would prefer Wilson over fields. If both fall past 2 it’s a complete crapshoot. I tend to think Carolina would want fields in that offense. Meanwhile i could see the Broncos wanting Wilson and Falcons could go either way imo.

If the eagles go QB I’m not sure which they’d prefer cause this isn’t fitting it into Doug’s offense that we had. It’s sirianni’s philosophy/offense and I’m not sure what he and howie ideally looking for in terms of QB prospect with this offense. He worked with luck, brisset and rivers.

More likely?  Roseman tells media "hey, I’m getting calls on Carson Wentz, and I’m not hanging up the phone” ..... or

Some anonymous other NFL team tells media "I called Howie Roseman and asked about Wentz, and he didn’t hang up the phone”

Not really hard to pick where the information would be coming from, is it??

But why would they? Another team isn’t going to leak to the media that Wentz has more interest and value than previously thought.

You strike me as the type that listens to a politician speak and takes everything they say as honest and what they really belief and will do.

Why didn't Lurie and Roseman commit to Wentz as the starter going into 2020?  Why instead did they just refer to him as an asset?

He's not the one listening to speculation like it's gospel

Obviously teams are only calling about Hurts and not Wentz because Hurts is the better QB.

I don't think Fields and Wilson are that far apart in terms of passing talent.  Fields is the better athlete and for some teams that will make a big difference

If a team didn't even think that the eagles were at all willing to part with him they wouldn't even call. So at some level they think there's a chance before they make the call. No need to publicly try to fool them, right?

Maybe I should email Howie impersonating a GM and see if he responds ??  If he responds, then he for sure would trade any player that I ask about.

Aside from Lawrence, I am not at all sure about how the draft goes.  I could see Chase falling significantly because he opted out.  I could also see him going 2nd. Sewell may fall for the same reasons.  It seems like one of the issues may be that there are several QB needy teams in the middle of the 1st round.  It makes me think there's a good possibility that there will be some trades up for picks and as soon as the 2nd QB goes you may see a run on QBs.

Alshon!

I think I saw something that there may not be a combine this year. If that's the case do you think it would lessen the amount of trades because of all of the unknowns of the draft prospects?

2 hours ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

That's not what I asked.  You specifically brought up 2019 (you had the year wrong) and the last 4 games and his need to play "hero ball".  Why do you think he needed to play that way?

I answered that question in my first sentence.  It’s his preferred style of play.

Yup, I gave him a chance but he's back on ignore. Hot takes is all he has
