Since I’ve stirred up the hornet’s nest, let’s play along with BLG above. If Reich isn’t interested in Wentz, what does that say about Wentz?

It says welcome back, Andrew Luck.

Perhaps it says their GM can draft and head coach can draft and develop a QB on a rookie deal rather than start paying $30M per year right away.

What does it say about Deshaun Watson if Reich doesn’t convince the Colts to trade for him?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Have you gone off the deep end? Obviously it says he doesn't want to work with him for some reason.

Man, I had actual work to do for 2 hours and I see 15 or so new pages, and Wentz wasn't even traded.

I’m so tired of this convo. Now I hope Wentz is traded so I don’t have to hear about him anymore.

Howie definitely would not redeem himself by eating $34M, trading away draft picks, and bringing in a malcontent who wants to dictate to Lurie who the next GM should be.

Watson wants to get out of Houston because they’re a mess. Can’t blame him. If he would come in and play well it wouldn’t.

it’s just an unlikely hypothetical

It's a valid question. The Colts don't have a quarterback. They have a roster ready to compete for a championship. They should explore all options at QB. Surely, if Reich thinks highly of Wentz he'd be willing to make a trade.

Any chance we could get 1st round pick and Michael Pittman Jr. for Wentz and Ertz ?

You’re changing the wording. It says "what if Reich doesn’t want him?” That’s the premise I’m working off of.

Does Frank Reich want Watson?

Has anyone said he isn't interested? We've had enough hypothetical discussions in here as of late.

QB factory accept it. Hurts as a rookie much better backup then Sudz but I guess there in lies the problem. Top of your head who would you have picked at that spot last year and maybe Carsons too ?

If I'm being completely honest then at the time I was hoping for Diggs (taken 2 spots before though), AJ Epenesa or Mims or Van Jefferson.  Looking back at it though they could have drafted Chinn or Dobbins.

To spend a 2nd round pick on a player that you only intend on every being a backup player at a position where the backup rarely sees the field is an incredible waste of that 2nd round pick.  Especially for a team like the Eagles who have holes all over the place.  You can sign a cheap backup QB.  If you want to draft a QB to develop as a QB then you do that in the 3rd or 4th round.  The second round is a place in the draft where you can still reasonably expect to draft someone who can either right away or develop into a long term quality starter for your team.

I’m betting it was never that. That was likely the secondary/tertiary reason they brought up cause they knew gullible fans would buy it due to the cap situation we were headed towards and wentz having injuries. I don’t have proof but logically makes more sense with how the eagles think they wanted to be ahead of the curve and have a safety net/backup plan in case Carson was more 2018 and early season 2019 wentz then consistently end of 2019 wentz. Eagles likely figured they were stuck with wentz for at least two more years with the contract and it would likely take a QB like Hurts who they loved coming out two years to be groomed to be ready at the nfl level to be a consistent starter. So if after two years Carson wasn’t what they thought they’d move on to Hurts their insurance plan. The only thing the eagles didn’t account for was wentz playing as badly as he did last year to create the situation after 2020 and this offseason

Sounds reasonable except spending a 2nd on a player to " only intend ever to be backup for the team "  as in forever and ever. Kurt Warner. CW looking for that unconditional love needs to put on his big boy pants if that’s truly what he’s thinking but I’m getting it from you guys that he’s offended by an insurance plan in case he gets hurt, plain stinks or can be developed and traded at a premium if CW reverts to his 2017 capabilities

Not sure if this is allowed here but Fanatics sent me a 3XL green Reggie White jersey for no reason and they don't want it back.  Am I allowed to ask if anyone on here wants it?

It's a fan paid site now so I don't see why not. Make a thread

Cross the Raiders off the list of QB-needy teams.

"Want” is a subjective term.

”Want” to pay a franchise QB at $30M+ per year?  Two-thirds of NFL franchises choose not to pay that for their starting QB — right or wrong.  IND paid Rivers $25M, and he couldn’t even get them a playoff win where BUF played rather poorly.

Anyway, I don't think the question we should be asking is if Carson wants to be back. It's whether we want him back. He was atrocious this season and is way overpaid.

The fact is after the 2018 season he spoke to hand-picked reporters about the Philly Voice story. He was under no obligation to do so but chose to do it.

Why? To help control the narrative and to help move past the story.

This isn’t about Twitter or about social media, this about Wentz and his team knowing they could do something to calm firestorm and doing nothing about it. The only logical reason for that is that there’s truth to it.

I think the 2018 story hurt a young man to the quick and I don’t blame him.  That story was allegedly an anonymous player attacking Wentz and for team unity and personal pride he responded.  A lot of players then flocked to his side.  This situation is dissimilar.
I just don’t see a firestorm.  In three months when things are a little bit behind him and Doug and Press are in the rear view mirror, a confident Carson will step up during OTAs and say that he is excited about the new playbook and what Nick and his youthful gang are presenting.   When asked about the benching he will deflect with a statement that looks like it was plagiarized from Hurts.  When asked about competing with Hurts, he will say that is the NFL, this is a great QB room and some cliche like competition makes us stronger and hopefully the media will then report on something else, like scheme, comfort with the receivers in a more normal offseason.

He's 31 and hasn't played in 3 years. He left because of health reasons. He made over $100M so it's not like he needs the money

They also paid Brissett $15M to he the backup, so if he thinks he can get Wentz back to 2017 Wentz, that’s a steal!

Too expensive to trade for.

I dunno. They paid something like $40M last year for Old Man Rivers and Brissett.

Seriously S-7 ? What the hell have we been discussing for months?

Is Reich in charge of trades? Didn't know he had that kind of control with Colts

They had more cap room and Rivers didn’t cost the draft/player compensation Wentz would.

From the 2009 draft until 2016 draft there were 22 Quarterbacks taken in the 1st Rd. Wentz is the only QB with his original team.

Since 2000 draft until 2016 there are 4 QB’s still with their original teams (drafted in Rd 1) - Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Ryan, Wentz.

Quarterbacks change teams a lot.

Hahah. I just mean that we're wasting our time talking about if Carson wants to be here. It doesn't matter.
