I like fields alot. If you deal wentz i am fine with taking him or the ND kid.

honestly have not watched enough of BYU or NDak. Yet

Trey Lance can play, but I can't imagine the Eagles going that route again.  Too many crazy assumptions would happen from a PR perspective.  I enjoy watching him though.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I think they want Wentz back, and because Hurts would have such a small market, that would mean both returns. That brings another set of issues. Man, the Hurts pick was so bad.

It's amazing that Lurie let him keep his job after it. It's been an avalanche

Is it mismanagement? Or is it a player underperforming? At some point, Wentz is to blame. Sure the team sucked around him, but he only made it worse. If he had played like a franchise QB, avoided 30 turnovers, we wouldn't be talking about mismanagement. Yes, it didn't make sense to use a 2nd for Hurts.

It's not the perfect comparison, but the Packers drafted Jordan Love and what did Rodgers do? Win the MVP. It's the same kind of "mismanagement", but the quality of player is the difference.

Wentz was awesome in 2017, but that's in large part due to a great team around him too. He just isn't a franchise QB. It is what it is.

It's only a disaster because we don't have a QB. It seems like a huge mess with Wentz and Hurts. That's what happens when you have two QBs. You actually have none.

Who hasn't blamed Wentz?

Once he's gone, the door has to be swung wide open and there needs to be a major youth movement.  The hardest part of that is trusting Howie to do that effectively.

I don't trust Howie at all

Feel like there’s going to be bad news for you. I’ve been of the thinking for a while if they were ever moving on from wentz that Hurts was the insurance plan and the guy going forward. They view him as their Russell Wilson (guy in round 2/3 where they believe can be a franchise QB) and didn’t want to miss out on him. That’s what they’ve alluded to after they drafted him.

It was a small sample size but I didn't see anything resembling Wilson

I think the comp was more towards they missed out on Russell Wilson who they loved by waiting to select him and didn’t want to potentially miss out on a prospect they felt could have the success like Russell Wilson

Dude, I've been nothing but a staunch Wentz supporter. I'm 100% in bringing him back and trading Hurts away instead. Despite all the crap we hear about his personality I think it can be managed and I think he can be coached he just needs hard coaching. I just don't see any realistic way that it works out with how awful Howie and Lurie have handled this.

He's not terrible?

Most likely.  But most of the haters in here, love Hurts because he's not Wentz and for another reason.....it's plainly obvious.

Because he’s black?

Come on. These same folks were cheering Wentz/Foles on in 2017 like their lives depended on it.

I hate that this is where our some of our discourses descend to.

All of these premier QBs has a strong A type personality.  Just like in any professional business, those people are the hardest to mentor, but they hold themselves to a higher standard of knowledge and performance.  I don't read much into the comments about his personality, except that he and Doug's personalities didn't mesh.

Don't misunderstand, I firmly believe Wentz can get back to his higher level play with tough coaching and that's what I want to see. I just believe Howie and Lurie have really screwed the pooch with this whole situation.

From Mike garafolo this morning on WIP. TFWIW

Speaking Friday morning to Angelo Cataldi on SportsRadio 94WIP, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said that the Eagles have already discussed a Wentz trade with the Indianapolis Colts.

"I do know that the Eagles have had conversations with the Indianapolis Colts already. Here is the thing about the Colts, and this is why they were never strongly in the running for Matthew Stafford — these guys are really good at what they do draft-wise. They believe in themselves. So every pick that they deal away they think to themselves ‘I just dumped away a good player’, where as some GMs might say ‘Eh, you know what, I may have missed on that pick anyway.’ These guys believe they are going to hit on every single one. So what they do is, they are a little slow playing when it comes to these draft picks and trades.”

also says they received aggressive offers. That feels like if it is true that was an eagles source telling him that  to possibly drive up the value in a potential trade him.

Don’t look at me i didn’t draft him. I think his ceiling is middle of the road starting QB like 13-18 range which i don’t believe is good enough to win you a super bowl. The eagles likely disagree. So you are likely to get 2 years out of Hurts before he proved us wrong on here or they either realize he’s not the QB they think

I'm not blaming you. I did not intend to shoot the messenger.

I blame the Eagles....

When all is said and done....what is the worst Howie draft pick? I submit 3:

Marcus Smith

Pumphrey

Hurts

I think drafting that linemen who was 25 and a fire fighter in the 1st round has to be up there.

They definitely screwed it up.  That's why so many people despise Howie.   This has been brewing for over a  year, when Howie decides to dump a prime pick into a backup QB that better resembles a throwing RB.   If I am Wentz, I am steamed instantly that nothing was done with that pick to support all of the other needs.  That is just one of many things.   He's been poorly coached.  The scheme was predictable.  His weapons are old.   I genuinely think that Wentz is a generational talent that has been roundly criticized for no good reason (other than its Philly and we hate everything).

I hope he stays, but I am starting to think that isn't happening.  The thought of him with a vibrant, young staff sounds great.

I honestly don’t know how this clown has basically nailed the outlook on the Eagles these past several seasons.

Yea that’s been the odd part of the reporting over the last day or so. It had been portrayed as if it was only Carson that wanted out; now, these new reports make it seem that the Eagles want out too (or at least are actively drumming up business to accommodate Carson).

thats the additional foolishness of taking him. now you have 2 years of him on a cheap rookie deal....where the team will be nowhere good enough to contend for a title. then you have to pay bigger money and lose the roster building advantage....it was a stupid pick by every angle.

The hard part about Hurts is that he is a reasonable mid-rounder, but was simply overdrafted by Howie and wasn't the most needed at that pick for the Eagles.   They left good talent out there to take him.

For that reason, I'll add JJAW or Danny Watkins in spot three

Why do you think so many other teams are offering more for Wentz than the Rams got for Goff?

No idea, we will have to see if that is actually the case or if this is all coming from the Eagles trying to drive up the price.

My guess is this deal gets done Sunday so if the Eagles don't grt that good of a return it won't be a big story in the media due to the Super Bowl overshadowing it.

Also the guy who said Jordan matthews was a better player than alshon. We might all dislike alshon with what transpired but Jordan matthews was never better than alshon. And also stated the sixers should not take embiid and take Noah Vonleh. You throw enough hot takes out there you eventually get one or two right

https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/2107351/report-eagles-colts-discussed-wentz-trade

The Philadelphia Eagles have discussed a potential deal for the quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said on SportsRadio 94WIP.

"I do know that the Eagles have had conversations with the Indianapolis Colts already", Garafolo said.

The news comes shortly after reports that Philadelphia has received calls regarding Wentz's availability. Teams have made "aggressive offers," according to ESPN's Tim McManus.

The New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers are potential destinations for the disgruntled passer, Garofolo reports.

Philadelphia could have to attach draft compensation to a trade involving Wentz due to his high salary, similar to the deal that sent Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions.

I don’t understand this at this point. He’s going to be traded because he doesn’t want to be here not because we necessarily want him gone. Most folks here wouldn’t have a problem with him coming back and losing a QB competition to Hurts (or maybe play up to his talents and resume his role as a top 3 NFL QB).

I think it's hilarious you KNOW he doesn't want to be here, yet he nor his agent have told us or the Eagles he wants to be traded.

Until that happens he is most likely coming back, despite your wishcasting.

You mean like the 2nd half of every game that he has played in so far?   If he's our QB1, these new guys had better be damn good with the scheme and have one crazy running game to support him.
