I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

This has been Lowie's plan since Game 8 of the season.

To announce a Wentz trade the weekend of the SB?

Same honestly. But I will hoping that he is somehow the next Russel Wilson

Hmmm.... I quess he could be, but i seriously doubt it. Like I wouldn't bet $5 on 100 : 1 odds on it.   In fact I'd bet the other way easiest $5 i'd make.

Usually they just steal thunder away from the other teams in the city. Shocked they didn’t have some type of big news when the Phillies signed Realmuto

Feel like there’s going to be bad news for you. I’ve been of the thinking for a while if they were ever moving on from wentz that Hurts was the insurance plan and the guy going forward. They view him as their Russell Wilson (guy in round 2/3 where they believe can be a franchise QB) and didn’t want to miss out on him. That’s what they’ve alluded to after they drafted him.

HUGE mistake. Hurts is no Wilson. Wilson came in and won the job in training camp in his first year, and looked the part his whole rookie season. Hurts looked the part for the 1st half of the saints game.

That would get you a very good shot at this guy I think

Man I hate this guys face!!!!

Everyone keeps saying we have to pay a little for some team to take wentz off our hands

His contract is fine its the dead money thats going to hurt the eagles

So we should actually get more compensation for eating all the dead money

Fair enough. Probably both if I’m being honest.

I think something has to be worked out with the salary cap accommodation much like the Detroit Lions...is it possible to make a really discounted trade package such as 1st and 4th and clear some space...I assume the contract is tough to get around

I am not a fan. Honestly does anyone seriously believe Lawrence will be better than Wentz?  I dont have that kind of faith.

Yeah I’m betting it wouldn’t. The jags aren’t dealing that pick. Urban Meyer didn’t go there to trade away that pick. I get everything has a price but i don’t see them trading away what they likely believe is a generational type of QB even for four firsts. Unless somehow they got watson for it which i doubt is realistic.

If I am not getting 2 1sts and a 3rd, why do I make the deal?  Who you gonna get that will be better than Wentz?  (I have to look at what wentz was with a decent team around him and good coaching, and basically see 2020 as the outlier it is) Thats the starting point, who will be better than Wentz was 2017-2019? If you cant get there from here, why again would I do the deal?

Coming out of college I would say yes Lawrence has a better shot. But that's if I was looking back to before Wentz was drafted not knowing what he'd do in the NFL. Lawrence i think has a more impressive college resume at a higher level. But whether that translates to the NFL? We shall see. At least with Wentz we know what he can and can't do and what his ceiling can be.

Yep absolutely. I think there is a difference in the contracts between Wentz and Goff. I think the Lions take a big cap hit by bringing in Goff whereas I don't believe that's the case with Wentz.

and that should be the starting point- (if your goal is to win championships as the Eagles always say it is) You have to start with a real FRANCHISE QB.  Just saying well we got a bunch of picks we will get one doesn't translate to _ you will get one.

Just a reminder the Browns went through 32 different starting QB's and numerous 1st rd draft picks to find a QB between Kosar and Mayfield.

The roadblock to my certainty that Wentz will be back is the cap situation and the possibility that the Eagles could get another team to eat some of the Wentz cap hit. But the media circus making it sound like this is going to happen is completely dishonest and just making controversy where there was very little.

Because I think the dead money is just as big an obstacle moving forward...if it costs a first to get some relief I think you pull the trigger...I don't like any of the QBs coming out this year, so I would play the long game and roll with Hurts for a year and then revisit next year...

but...again...I am still of the belief that the Eagles want Hurts and Wentz back next year...this is all conjecture

I think the big question there is... Can Wentz be a franchise QB who takes this team to the SB in the future? The answer to the dictates whether a move for Lawrence or any QB in this year's draft is worth it.

I want to say it was the interview with Geoff mosher on 973 espn on Wednesday saying the team that gets Carson the contract is fine cause they can get out of it with minimal damage the following year in 2022 if things go south. Theres point also made mosher bring up the point it actually benefits Carson Wentz financially from the standpoint of the non-guaranteed money of that contract if he stays with the Eagles (around the 17:35 mark of the interview)

we know what he can do given decent coaching, and a proper team to work with. We know 2020, he had neither and he was bad. 1 bad year with the circumstances of 2020 is the outlier if you believe in statistics.  We know he can play at a high level in the NFL when it matters.

I watched a lot of Clemson games and Lawrence does NOTHING for me.

Forget which game but he had like 280 yards of passing in the 1st half and 245 of the yards were passes at or behind the line of scrimmage.

This is the problem with college football. You have such superior talent that you cant really tell whos good and whos not.

really hard to evaluate a QB in college when WR's are so wide open.

You summed up how i feel but would would’ve taken 1-2 pages to do. So thank you for that.

Ok but the dead money is the Eagles concern, not the team trading for him. And yes it is an obstacle going fwd, which again, will hamper you building a team around any qb. It's just far better for the Birds and Wentz if he stays.
