Or they are getting aggressive offers, and are paving the way to break it to the fan base, "it was too good an offer we couldn't refuse"

I don't think they need to set it up a whole lot for the fan base. Generally speaking of the fan base (aka not here), it seems there are more haters than supporters at this point.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

we know what he can do given decent coaching, and a proper team to work with. We know 2020, he had neither and he was bad. 1 bad year with the circumstances of 2020 is the outlier if you believe in statistics.  We know he can play at a high level in the NFL when it matters.

really hard to evaluate a QB in college when WR's are so wide open.

In general this year is going to be hard to evaluate quarterbacks because you’re not having the normal college football season due to the pandemic and the madness he created. Additionally you don’t have the same kind of access and ability that a normal off-season going into the combine and then after the combine to figure out everything about each potential quarterback prospect. It’s a bad year from that standpoint and then I would say after Trevor Lawrence it’s not that great of a class of quarterbacks. I wouldn’t be very confident that any of them turn out to be a franchise quarterback. Personally I would just build up the roster for a year and see what Jalen hurts is. You’re already invested a second round pick in them so you might as well give them a full year just to show you he is or isn’t the guy. If a year from now he isn’t the guy at least I use those pics to build up the rest of the roster and then I can go get a quarterback that I do love in the next draft (if one is available they love)

Vocal minority.

I don't like these QB's from big powerhouse schools that are surrounded by NFL talent and play cupcake schedules for most of the season.

Give me someone from a school with lesser talent around them that is putting up good numbers. I'd be more interested in the North Dakota St. and BYU kid, than Clemson and Ohio State.

building up the roster with Hurts, gets you stuck in the middle rds of the draft perennially. Which means if you plan on drafting a franchise QB to replace him then, you have to get extremely lucky to be able to move up to draft him. Like we did for Wentz.

That may be a plan, but it's not a good plan IMHO. I have little faith Howie can and will identify another Franchise QB. Just look at Hurts. He wasted a 2nd rd pick on him.

I think at best its 50/50 at this point. When you start swimming in the facebook/twitter.sports radio sewage cesspool they are much more majority.

ahh well we will always have 2017.

We literally caught lightning in a bottle.

Hurts isn't the answer. Just isn't. He will give you a team stuck in mediocrity, good enough to win you 8 games, bad enough to never really be in contention. With him, you will Never be in a position to draft the next franchise QB because you will always be drafting in the middle of the rds

Franchise QB's are way to hard to find and be in a position to get.

Guys like Rodgers, Brady, Mahommes, are way to few in the league and I have 0 faith Howie can and will find anything better than what wentz will be with decent coaching and a decent team around him.

I pretty much agree that Hurts isn't the answer.  I am also concerned that Wentz is questionable.  He has all of the potential to be great again but he played terribly this past season.  He has some persistent issues with accuracy and turnovers that worsened this season. While he's proven that he can lead a team to a Super Bowl, it's not like he's been a top 10 QB on a consistent basis. I would rather they rehabilitate him but if he wants out and the team can get significant compensation for him.  They wouldn't be foolish to move on from him despite the cap hit.

I also think that if they are picking in the top 10, then they should pick a QB.  I would prefer that they take a prospect like Zach Wilson or Fields if available at 6.  However, there is an argument to be made that Hurts may turn into a franchise QB.  I do think he has the potential to be a Kirk Cousins or Dak Prescott type QB. So, give him a season to figure out before just picking another QB.  Use this season to replenish talent on a weak roster.  Target a QB in 2022 or 2023.

Yay conflicting reports!

again, vocal minority,  people always speak up to trash said players, fewer ever fight to praise.  Thats Social Media in a nutshell.  Not that they really care what fans think anyway.

First the Eagles have gone 10 years since they traded Donovan McNabb and haven’t found a consistent year-to-year franchise quarterback if they wind up trading Carson Wentz (which basically tells you they don’t believe he is). So howie Roseman can identify a franchise quarterback does not mean anything to anyone. Because every quarterback they’ve tried and selected has not been that since they traded mcnabb.

Second I think you’re under the assumption that Jalen hurts with the roster he’s going to have around them when they get under the cap is going to be good enough to be more than a 6 win team. I don’t think even with a healthy roster that last year this team is better than a 7-8 win team. That was with a coach who had head coaching experience. you have a rookie head coach, implementing a new system on offense and on defense, have to get under the cap so you’re gonna lose some of the guys you have on this roster that really we don’t have at least competent replacements for and we have a ton of question marks prior to getting under the cap.

I would also point this out the Kansas City Chiefs were picking at the back of the first round and built up their roster while Alex Smith was still having them be in playoff contention. Then identified mahomes and went to 10 to get him. You just have to draft properly to build up the roster and then when you identify a quarterback that you love go out and get them and be right on the player. However I don’t think anyone has confidence in the Eagles doing such

I think if Hurts isn't an above average QB and is the starter next season, then the team will be picking in the top 10 again.

It's really difficult to figure who to trust here. Two national reporters, one of which has strong Eagles ties (Garafolo) or a talk-show host.

agree to disagree. Yes, I agree in theory with your vocal minority stance. But I have also seen people pro-Wentz turning these last few weeks, especially with the hit piece reports and Silencegate. There's a large group of sheep that follow media hacks like ESP.

Does it matter if I'm right? 2020 has been beyond weird. How anybody can read these tea leaves is beyond my mortal brains ability to conceptualize at this point.

Well, yea. I'm not saying to take DP's word over them. Just interesting is all. There could be a middle ground here where teams have called but no one has put in a serious offer. Who knows.

Everyone keeps saying we have to pay a little for some team to take wentz off our hands

His contract is fine its the dead money thats going to hurt the eagles

So we should actually get more compensation for eating all the dead money

The question is the $10 million roster bonus that's due on the 3rd day of the League year. I don't think that's a real hurdle if teams want him.  That's not to say that teams won't push back on compensation because of that roster bonus and that the Eagles may ultimately have to take less in order to trade him prior to that date.  Of course, Wentz could agree to push back the date to post June 1.

I'm not going to argue whether or not he can play at a high level in the NFL in the future. As you say, we know he has played at a high MVP level and we know he's also played at a very low level. At this point it might be a bit of a coin toss as to which version shows up next year due to so many different factors.

the horrendous coaching this past year cost us at least 3 games, we would have won the division with just better coaching alone. I am betting our PR and KR teams will make better decisions than we did in 2020.  Unless Sirinni is worse than Doug, this has to improve.

Injuries were also horrendous in 2020, will we always be this injured? That cost us some. Just staying healthy would have won us the division last year.

The team has some young players who may or may not respond to better coaching, may or may not improve.  I'm betting the Oline and WR's will be better.

If a team trades for him they probably will just restructure him anyway.

Yep. DJ Uhigfjigjiiliii aka the back up at clemson(went to boscoe) with the F'ed up last name had almost 900 yards, 6 touchdowns, 0 int's in 2 games this year.

Deshaun Watson turned out to be pretty good.
