That and Watson would.have to want to come here.

Which I don’t know why he would look at Philadelphia has a tractive destination when you have a quarterback in Carson Wentz who people are claiming is unhappy and wants out. He’s unhappy and went out in Houston so he sees another quarterback making franchise money wanting out and unhappy. I don’t see how you sell him on that with the roster as constructed and then having a lack of picks after the deal.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Nah. He’s a slightly better Tebow.

Lol Tebow never passed for more than 236 yards in a game & and he had Demaryius Thomas.
Hurts has passed for over 335 twice already in his 4 game nfl career with Greg Ward Jr.

Nice try though chief.

You're entering @Shocker54 territory with that post.

Being the "franchise QB" and playing like a "franchise QB" aren't really the same thing, are they?

And I will easily give you the 2020 season as a year the Eagles did not have a "franchise QB" level of play at the QB position.  And yes, I have stated that during the season.

Who cares if he’s "being” the franchise quarterback. That means nothing if you don’t get actual franchise quarterback level play. Again you switched your argument to he’s been a franchise quarterback for the last five years meanwhile our entire discussion until your last post was about getting franchise level QB play on the field for each season.

you also stated when you came on here in 2019 that he wasn’t playing at a franchise quarterback level to the point you said they should have traded him for picks and went with foles. Imo that’s basically telling me you didn’t think he was giving you franchise QB play. And i also believe you’ve stated his 2018 wasn’t that all that great when you watched him that year.

I see that Giroux is stealing money again.

He is the least impactful "superstar" in recent memory.

2 goals since they had the bubble in Toronto. Legitimately the biggest mistake they made is when they were doing the rebuild they didn’t try to trade him and get prospects and pics to add to the young core that they were going to have down the road. Now you’re paying a bunch of money and as he ages becomes less and less the star he’s being paid to be

Yes.  Happens all the time.  Sometimes like Hoying they judge incorrectly.  Did you need to see more than four games for Haskins?  Tim Tebow?  Christian Ponder?  Akili Smith?  Kyle Boller?  EJ Manuel?  There are more examples.

Oh ok so you and others watched him beat the Saints and then watched the cardinals game and thought "okay. I’ve seen enough. This kid will never be anything more than a backup. He’s Christian ponder. He’s EJ Manuel. He’s Kyle freaking Boller” ?

Yup it’s ridiculous. I do give credit to jvr he’s actually looks good this year.

Not exactly "hitching our wagon” if he’s on a rookie deal and the team is rebuilding anyways. I’m not suggesting we sign him tomorrow to 5 years 40M. imo he played very well given the circumstances & alot of y’all in here acting like he’s Dwayne Haskins

Once opposing Ds made adjustments and took away his ability to run the ball and turn him into a pocket passer he only had TWO 2nd half scoring drives that resulted in points out of 24.  And if you project his TOs over those 3.5 games he wasn't any better than Wentz.  He is NOT the long term answer.  And he also lacks the arm strength to make sideline throws into tight windows, which will result in INTs at the NFL level.  He might be a good dude with a good attitude, but he lacks above average to elite level talent and physical abilities.

And the young defensemen are showing promise. This team needs a front-line scorer, however.

Claude "Pass First" Giroux.  Him and Jake.  Should have traded both for younger players and picks.

I would argue they also need another top defenseman. I think a lot of the problems with not getting as many shots on goal is because they have issues getting the puck out of their zone for long stretches of time. If you got someone who was a top pairing defenseman you can move guys down and it makes you have better depth.

I do agree they could use another front line scoring. However I do think when Coots comes back he can give them a little more offense.

Such terrible news about Andy's son.

The guy has no luck with his two sons.  I think this might swing the game to Tampa.  I don't remember such a wild pre-Super Bowl story to go down since that Raiders player went AWOL prior to their Super Bowl against...the Bucs.

I'm just looking at the under.

Can he play multiple positions?

Not sure what he will be, but I simply answered your question.  Accurately.  I will say watching him in college my impression was that he would be a nice back up in the pros, a good change of pace, but certainly not a starter.  However, since he is an Eagle I hope he becomes great.  I hoped Hoying, both Detmers, Vick, you name it, would all be better than they actually were.

I think the defense has been pretty bad, mostly with puck movement and control out of their own zone.  It’s really their biggest issue.  I’ve been wanting the Flyers to move on from Giroux as the captain for 3 years now.  It’s time.

If the flyers didn’t use the cap on some other players like JVR and would have dealt giroux a couple years ago they could’ve gone after pietrangelo. He would’ve been a massive upgrade and the best defenseman we’ve had since pronger

Probably but he'd only have to play QB.

I’m willing to give hurts another season to see what he is. My thought when he came out of college was his ceiling if he maximized it was a middle of the road starting quarterback in the NFL.

When I watched him in the first half games I said he played well. However once teams began making adjustments at halftime the Eagles offense began to have struggles with consistency and scoring points. First half of games the averaged around 18 points. Second half of games not including Washington they averaged 4.3 points. That told me once coaches on the other team made adjustments he struggled with it.

Now the reason I’m going to give him another year is because he was a rookie and he dealt with a pandemic so I expect if he comes back this year to correct that and become a better passer. If we see the same thing again this upcoming year then at that point I Gotta say I don’t think he’s the guy to get you where you need to go.

After the 2018 season, when Foles came in and "saved" the season for the 2nd straight year, yes, I wanted the team to keep Foles because he was a natural fit for this offense and team.  Nick Foles played at a "franchise QB level" in the most important and most demanding games in the history of the franchise.  Yes, I wanted to keep Foles here because if a QB does amazing things with your team...you keep that QB.  If he does amazing things 2 years in a row, you keep that QB.

We would have received a King's ransom in return for Wentz and we could have built a solid, young and cheap team around Foles.  And Foles would have likely taken a much more "team friendly" deal to remain in Philadelphia.  The man loved this team and this city.  That sort of success and motivation can't be taught and I have zero doubt that he would have continued to win here in Philadelphia.

That said, I never once in the 2018 off season stated that Wentz wasn't a franchise QB or capable of being a franchise QB.  There were times I was critical of him during the 2019 season and yes, I stated that we should have "kept Foles" when I was irritated....but I never doubted his skill and talent.  I suspected that there were internal issues with him and the system (and I was right) but even then, I figured they would get it corrected.  And my biggest issue was whether or not he could win "high pressure" games and he did that by winning out at the end of 2019 season.  So no, I did not question whether or not Wentz was the "franchise QB".  I questioned his performance/fit at times....that was about it.

Might as well throw Hurts in the deal for Watson. Can't have two QBs on this team, people will turn on Watson after 1 bad game and be chanting for Hurts. Don't want to hurt Watson's feelings.

Greg Ward can be our backup if Watson goes down.

I don’t care about the reasons you had with foles. Also We aren’t talking about if he could be a franchise quarterback still. That’s not the discussion. And yet you keep avoiding the actual discussion we were having. You asked me how many years did the eagles get franchise level QB play. Not how many years did they believe they had a franchise QB.

Again Would you say in 2018 and 2019 WENTZ played like a franchise level quarterback on the field? That’s the argument. Everything else in here is pure fluff.

and based off your reaction in 2019 and how you talked about his 2018 I would dare say you didn’t think Carson Wentz played those particular seasons at the level of a franchise quarterback.

Poor Claude has just dropped off the cliff.  He is a face off and PP specialist now.  Loved him and his game.  Never a great player but a really good one for a solid decade.  Passionate player and a good captain.  I've argued this a bunch: their lack of team speed is killing them.  It impacts their forwards back checking allowing teams so many odd man rushes and wide open 25 foot shots with opponents crashing for rebounds with nobody obstructing them, they get caught from behind in the neutral zone disrupting zone entries, impacts the dump and chase as they are routinely beaten to the puck.   Good thing they have good goalies.  What they did to Hart in the last 9 minutes and OT on Wednesday was pathetic.   He should have broken another stick
