Hurts' arm is "fine". It's not good. It's not bad. It's meh.

The bigger problem is that he needs to plant to get heat on it. Top-tier QBs can throw lasers off-platform. Hurts can't.

Which would mean that his arm is lacking... wouldn't it?  🤔

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

You're wrong. He's the only QB in the draft worth trading for.  Still kind of spooked as to whether the Internet is once "again" a place to just banter about ideas or whether I'll be called in front of the "You said mean things" tribunal.

Everybody has an opinion. It's what makes this country great. Or at least it was.

I agree that he is probably the only guy in the draft worthy trading for if that's what the Eagles want to do, but I still have doubts. If I end up wrong, nothing in my life will change, I'll admit it and move on.

Honestly, he just seems more passionate about that part of his life.  I get it.  I'm much more passionate about my hobbies than my job.  And while I couldn't wait for Doug to be gone and will cast spells until Howie is, Carson was poor in so many QB areas this past season.  I have a fundamental belief: we do what we practice, we don't do what we don't practice.  I will use Brady because he is the best example: he practices his craft relentlessly.  Physical, nutrional, neurological.  I think Wentz would be amazing if he followed the same path.

Proof is in the pudding 👌🏿
I don’t know how hard he works and if he is working on the right things in the proper manner. Next year a new staff and the OL has to be better, a new leaf. We should just expect him to honor his contract in professional manner as you would any $25mil employee

If only we had talent on the roster.

I said last offseason this roster was of a 8-8 team then and that’s when they were healthy and had wentz playing like he did at the end of the year. People kept trying to tell me they at least have two more years of this window. This roster is a bad roster.  They lack really good young talent, the guys they are heavily relying upon are veterans who are closer to the exiting of their prime then in the height of their prime. on top of all that they’re going to have a rookie head coach, with a rookie defensive coordinator. I think everyone sees it now that there’s a couple dark years of Eagles football on the horizon and where we are gonna call it a rebuild but in reality it never should’ve gotten this dire of a rebuild but the writing was on the wall even last off-season. This is because you mismanaged your cap situation, you didn’t do good enough on your draft picks and your coaching player development has not been good

If they are trading Wentz it is to accommodate him. I’m concerned that if not traded this could get ugly but not if Carson is reasonable. Eating $50 mil is quite a lot to appease one player. He should be professional and hang on for a year

IF he is traded then it also could just be that Nick doesn't think Wentz is his guy 🤷‍♂️

Good my insurance policy/plan B theory is catching on.

Well, I would argue that the decision to draft Hurts was multi faceted.

Of course.   But, some people have to create a false dilemma.  If "x" happens, then it's because of "y" and nothing else.  If "x" doesn't happen, it's because "not y".

Correlation =/= causation.

Oh it was. I think the tertiary and secondary reasons were the things they stated at the presser after doing so cause it was an easier sell and they could spin it better than saying we need a backup plan in case Carson doesnt work out. I think their main reason was the plan B in case they had to move on from wentz in the next 2-3 years.

I disagree that plan b was the main reason. I think the main reason is that Doug wanted his Taysom Hill. I think Howie agreed to it because of all the other potential a high QB pick could offer - such as developing him and potentially trading for a 1st down the road -  in addition to Doug's desire for a pony. I know some will scoff at the idea of drafting a player to trade later - and that is silly on it's face. But if you're getting utility from that player while developing him then it's not that silly. Unwise probably - but not silly.

I say unwise because it's hard enough to score talent in the draft just to make your team better. But as long as it's secondary it's not silly.

I just wonder what the plan will be. It cant be Hurts.

Do they like someone in the draft? Are there any worthy free agents? I havent even looked.  Do they trade for one? Like, could they pull off some kind of swap with the Texans?

Play Hurts in 2021. We're going to be bad anyway. If he's bad, we'll have extra picks (possibly) from the Wentz trade to get a QB in 2022. If he's good, we have a solid QB moving forward under a cheap contract.

agreed on the unwise part especially when howie has since confirmed they wanted to do a rebuild last year and nixed in the offseason for a year. It’s particularly unwise knowing a rebuild is coming ans we need a massive amount of talent all over the field besides at QB

Yeah don’t buy it was taysom hill as the overwhelming reason. They aren’t going out there stating at their presser they didn’t to potentially miss out on a type of player they believed could be good like they did with Russell Wilson.  Even to the point they kind of alluded to reaching for him so they don’t miss out on another potential Wilson  I personally  believe they view him as more than just taysom hill to select him there but saw early until he was groomed and ready could contribute that way.  Frankly i think the eagles would be going out of their way and bending over backwards to keep wentz if they felt that was their main reason for selecting hill. Also if it was more of appeasing doug, well doug isn’t here anymore and they could spin it and put blame on him and trade him if taysom hill comp was the main reason. I think the hill thing was a benefit to drafting him, doug liked him for that and just a kid he loved as a future starter and having him in place like you said down the road help with trading him. However i think it would’ve been trading down the road cause wentz lived up to what they thought and they’d just spin it as we got production and 3  good years of QB play out of him

Also I don’t think the Saints would get a first for taysom hill prior to all this so i can’t imagine the eagles believed hurts if he were hill could get that compensation back

I shouldn’t have typed "Welp.” Cost me valuable time.

I thought we fired Doug to keep Wentz does this mean they fired Doug thinking it would appease Wentz and it didnt.

You're missing the point, ALMOST ALL GMS HAVE THE SAME AUTHORITY AS HOWIE.

Name all the HCs with veto power over personnel decisions. Belichick, Carroll and who else?

Howie had say over Doug on game day rosters on who would dress and who would play.

I think if they do trade Wentz that it will be Hurts job. I just dont see them drafting a Qb in this draft after spending a 2nd rounder on Hurts last year and having a rookie and Hurts on the same team.

Now could they turn around and make a blockbuster for Watson? Maybe but Hurts would have to be in the deal. But at the same time why would Watson agree to come to Philly and work with Howie? Don't see it as much of a different situation he had in Houston.

I feel like Tyrod Taylor would be a solid short term option for a horizontal offense like what ours is supposedly going to be.

I think a lot of people have to get with the idea the eagles saying they didn’t want to miss out on a player they believed could turn out to have success like Wilson, selecting him in the second round that they believe he can be potential franchise qb in time. They are not giving up on him after 4 games.

Maybe Nick likes someone in the draft. Would suck if we lose a ton of picks doing this trade

I believe the deal is done but they aren’t going to spill the beans till after the super bowl.

Bye Bye Carson.
