Maybe Nick likes someone in the draft. Would suck if we lose a ton of picks doing this trade

we arent going to lose picks. should get a nice haul.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I feel like Tyrod Taylor would be a solid short term option for a horizontal offense like what ours is supposedly going to be.

Why even waste money on a QB like that? Just roll with Hurts or draft someone. Taylor is a waste of time.

I’m guessing they are going to bring in a veteran backup QB. However they might go with their theory we need a cheap young backup QB and take one in round two again

Funny thing is what if its the Eagles leaking false rumors to get teams to call or to up the compensation from only 1 or 2 teams bidding low? lol. Then it turns out they don't trade him at all and all the reporters come back looking like bigger A-holes, lol. It would be comical from all parties.

But he's sucked for 5 years and is on a downward spiral. Why would any team give up a bunch of picks for him?

/sarcasm

I can't think of a less exciting signing than Tyrod Taylor to backup Hurts.

Jacoby Brissett is a UDFA. I could see us bringing him in given his knowledge of the offense.

Which would mean that his arm is lacking... wouldn't it?  🤔

I think we're both caught in the same dilemma. My concern with Hurts is that his arm is not good enough - but I wonder if it's because his arm really isn't good enough or because as an Eagles fan I've been spoiled. I'm old enough that I watched Jaws play but was too young to remember his arm strength - his nick name was "The Polish Rifle". Then there was Randall. Some lean years before McNabb. Then Vick. Nick Foles arm gets questioned and I don't know why - his combine ball velocity was 57 - 4th best in his draft class (among those that threw). Wentz was 59 at the combine. Hurts - 54 - Patrick Mahomes - 55

I am still holding out until there is official announcements. What makes the reporting more ominous if that everyone is gathered at the same place this weekend. It is not like tracking down sources all over the country and have them focused on other things.

Fleece Bears for two 1’s, please. That gives us the 6th and 20th this year.

Good thing I bought a Foles jersey and not a Wentz one

theyd be better with Taylor than Hurts. I dont think theyre looking to just tank a seson. Otherwise you still dont go with Hurts. I mean, thatd be bad but not as bad as signing someone like Matt Barkley.

Can we send other scrubs along with him like JJAW?

Can we believe this though if it hasn’t come from Carson? 🤔

I bought one in 2013, best jersey investment I ever made

Who says tanking? However howie even said it himself and i believe lurie also said it that they are in a rebuild and wanted to do so last offseason and then pulled a 180 due to new coaches in the division and the pandemic. I don’t think winning means as much during a rebuild then player development to build toward greater future success

Schefter is rarely wrong and going by how diva like the Eagles franchise has been in recent years, I wouldn’t be shocked if it happens tomorrow just to steal a headline.

Tyrod blows.  Hurts is absolutely a better option.

I purchased mine his rookie season cause he was an Arizona alum like myself. I was hoping he’d hit big and that turned out true upon his return and 2013

Don’t worry they’ll use part of the haul to replace JJAW with JJAW 2.0

Hurts is Tyrod Taylor with 2000 McNabb running ability.

Couldn't disagree more.  Tyrod is nothing more than an extremely vanilla and and below average game manager QB.  Hurts has a level of play making ability to him and while he doesn't have the strongest arm he will not hesitate to ake shots down the field.

So you disagree because his willingness to take shots down the field? Ok so he’s Tyrod Taylor with 2000 McNabb running ability and a little Brett Favre recklessness to his game.

agreed on the unwise part especially when howie has since confirmed they wanted to do a rebuild last year and nixed in the offseason for a year. It’s particularly unwise knowing a rebuild is coming ans we need a massive amount of talent all over the field besides at QB

Yeah don’t buy it was taysom hill as the overwhelming reason. They aren’t going out there stating at their presser they didn’t to potentially miss out on a type of player they believed could be good like they did with Russell Wilson.  Even to the point they kind of alluded to reaching for him so they don’t miss out on another potential Wilson  I personally  believe they view him as more than just taysom hill to select him there but saw early until he was groomed and ready could contribute that way.  Frankly i think the eagles would be going out of their way and bending over backwards to keep wentz if they felt that was their main reason for selecting hill. Also if it was more of appeasing doug, well doug isn’t here anymore and they could spin it and put blame on him and trade him if taysom hill comp was the main reason. I think the hill thing was a benefit to drafting him, doug liked him for that and just a kid he loved as a future starter and having him in place like you said down the road help with trading him. However i think it would’ve been trading down the road cause wentz lived up to what they thought and they’d just spin it as we got production and 3  good years of QB play out of him

Also I don’t think the Saints would get a first for taysom hill prior to all this so i can’t imagine the eagles believed hurts if he were hill could get that compensation back

Conflate arguments much? I guess ill start from the bottom and work my way back up. What Taysom hill would be worth in a trade and what any potential Eagles draft pick would be worth in a trade is irrelevant. I'm not saying that the Eagles looked at Hurts and said "it's Taysom Hill". I'm saying the genesis of this pick was Doug looking at how the Saints used Taysom Hill and saying I want that. IE - he wanted a pony. They draft Hurts specifically because of all the other things he offers. But if Howie thought of him as having the potential of Wilson and was worried about missing out then he would have traded up. He didn't.

Whether they believe Hurts is "more than just Taysom Hill" is also irrelevant. That speaks to the player that they chose and not about the reason in the first place. Taysom Hill was undrafted. I would hope they think Hurts offers more but it is irrelevant. If it was solely (or mostly) about insurance and not missing out on a potential franchise QB then I don't see Doug acting the way he did. I think he would have been somber - perhaps a little angry or disappointed. He was jubilant - like a kid opening his big box on Christmas and getting just what he wanted (a pony).

Also, I don't know where this narrative about Howie pointing the finger comes from - but Howie has always taking responsibility for the mistakes and bad decisions and gives organizational credit for the good decisions. The idea that the Eagles would throw Doug under the bus after letting him go has no merit. I don't think Doug was fired because of 1 bad season. I think Doug was fired because after doubling down on Mike Groh and then choosing no OC at all and then offering to promote Press Taylor - The Eagles decided that Doug was out of answers.

It’s probably a bad idea but I’d be excited to see BDN take the field for the Eagles again.
