I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

So you disagree because his willingness to take shots down the field? Ok so he’s Tyrod Taylor with 2000 McNabb running ability and a little Brett Favre recklessness to his game.

I don't understand why is he Tyrod? Because he is black? Because Tyrod and Hurts game is not at all similar.

Good thing I bought a Foles jersey and not a Wentz one

Still have my autographed football I had signed when I went to an Eagles practice in Chip's first year for select season ticket holders. I was in the Chuck Bednarik tent which had Nick Foles in it to meet and greet :)

Funny thing when I introduced my son(about 5-6 years old) to Nick I said he was going to be the the Qb to take the Eagles to their first SB. Go figure he was traded the following year to the Rams, lol.

I honestly believe Schefter's tweets more than most. So if he is saying a deal is being done soon then expect it.

That tweet about 2 1st are are you get the calls to stop. Then eagles pull back to just 1 1st. I expect to get a 1st now. When before I thought we would have little comp back for Carson. This could be a big win for Eagles.

NFL.com comparison is Tim Tebow - I'm still mulling that over - what do you think?

Fleece Bears for two 1’s, please. That gives us the 6th and 20th this year.

I'd rather picks and CB Jaylon Johnson. I can't see two 1st's regardless

Conflate arguments much? I guess ill start from the bottom and work my way back up. What Taysom hill would be worth in a trade and what any potential Eagles draft pick would be worth in a trade is irrelevant. I'm not saying that the Eagles looked at Hurts and said "it's Taysom Hill". I'm saying the genesis of this pick was Doug looking at how the Saints used Taysom Hill and saying I want that. IE - he wanted a pony. They draft Hurts specifically because of all the other things he offers. But if Howie thought of him as having the potential of Wilson and was worried about missing out then he would have traded up. He didn't.

Whether they believe Hurts is "more than just Taysom Hill" is also irrelevant. That speaks to the player that they chose and not about the reason in the first place. Taysom Hill was undrafted. I would hope they think Hurts offers more but it is irrelevant. If it was solely (or mostly) about insurance and not missing out on a potential franchise QB then I don't see Doug acting the way he did. I think he would have been somber - perhaps a little angry or disappointed. He was jubilant - like a kid opening his big box on Christmas and getting just what he wanted (a pony).

Do you know howie didn’t attempt to trade up for him?what if he was trying to move up and no one would take the offer? Cause just making an assumption he didn’t move up doesn’t confirms he didn’t believe that Wilson quote or try to do so behind the scenes

Heck there were reports they were very interested in Jordan love by mosher and caplan and he wasn’t going to be close to 53. So there’s that piece of information which tells me they likely wanted a QB backup plan cause they’d have had to move up or take love at 20. And according to caplan it wasn’t just checking in on love. Was legitimate real interest. Maybe doug want love as well?

Also hard time believing the eagles didn’t trust doug with his coaching staff and decisions with his own staff, game day roster and then trusted him enough to rely on him wanting his "pony” as their main reason for doing so.

Howie Fing crap up like he usually does

Khalil Mack plus 2 firsts

Imagine being Sirianni taking this coaching job thinking you're gonna have Carson Wentz to try and fix and instead the GM goes over your head and trades him away before you even meet him.

Lowie seems determined to replace WFT as the most dysfunctional NFCE front office.

Name any real franchise QB that has had to?  Just find me one.

Rodgers and pretty sure Brady and maybe several times, top of my head

I’m sure Sirianni was aware of the possibility that Wentz would be traded. We’re not that dysfunctional.

Stop. The one thing Howie has been consistently good at is trades. I guarantee you he will actually get some value out of the overpaid diva who wants out.

He used to be. Golden Tate and Genard Avery say otherwise in recent memory.

I think we're both caught in the same dilemma. My concern with Hurts is that his arm is not good enough - but I wonder if it's because his arm really isn't good enough or because as an Eagles fan I've been spoiled. I'm old enough that I watched Jaws play but was too young to remember his arm strength - his nick name was "The Polish Rifle". Then there was Randall. Some lean years before McNabb. Then Vick. Nick Foles arm gets questioned and I don't know why - his combine ball velocity was 57 - 4th best in his draft class (among those that threw). Wentz was 59 at the combine. Hurts - 54 - Patrick Mahomes - 55

Its not about the stand in proper footwork and be able to drive the ball..  its the falling back, off balance throw that he has no chance at.  That last game on 4th down was the clear evidence that he's not that guy.  He had a defender in his face (but had plenty of room, but was off balance) and had a wide open WR about 15-20 yards away, and couldnt get the ball there.  Thats the type of throw that a QB with proper ARM strength can make with just his arm.  Hurts didn't have the juice to get it there.  In the NFL, QBs need to have enough arm strength, just in the arm to make the off platform throws.  I couldnt care less what the QB's arm strength is when he has time to wind up, etc.   Thats the exception in the NFL.  Most plays he'll not room to step into the throw, have to move as he releases, etc.  What kind of juice is on the ball in those situations?  That's what matters much more than the combine number.

Just as I generally don't care about the 40 time out of a track stance in shorts.  Being fast then is far less important than with pads on.

Imagine actually being dumb enough to believe the FO didn't tell Sirianni whether or not they planned to trade Wentz. Gee, I wonder why they hired a college coach who specializes in RPO's and has a long history with Hurts to be the new QB coach.

Howie is notorious for overvaluing his players.

Oh geez...

Or because his ceiling is high end backup/low end starter. Good character guy, average arm. Case Keenum work better so I don’t look racist?!?!

And somehow none of that is Howie's fault...
