I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

#11 is now open too. Let’s go

All these sources? Since it's not Howie, and I doubt Howie would have anyone on a call other than Lurie or Sirianni, any Eagles source doesn't have a clue.

So it's people in the room on other teams leaking, but why would they leak and drive the price up? Unless they have no interest and are trying to drive the price up for other teams?

Howie is not trading Wentz over Sirianni's objections, this team has never operated that way, Doug forced their hand by his total incompetence when it came to rebuilding his staff. Look how fast Sirianni put a competent group together - and compare that group with Doug. I think Doug just didn't like dealing with the administrative side, hiring, firing, monitoring, etc. He just wanted to draw up plays and hang out in the clubhouse, which is probably why the players loved him, players love player coaches, they just don't play hard for them after a while. Frankly, if Doug didn't have such strong ties to the organization and hadn't won a SB, I don't think he'd have lasted until 2020 on most teams.

If Wentz is traded, it's because Sirianni doesn't think he can be fixed or coached - not because Howie wants to dump him. You bring in a HC who's an offensive mind, the HC picks the QB.

People who think otherwise just have an axe to grind with Howie, because basically the things he does are just like practically every other GM in the NFL. GMs are the bad guys because they have to protect the organization's future. It's a balance between getting your coaches what they want and trying to honor the judgement of your personnel guys. Right now, Sirianni gets the benefit of the doubt, in two years, who knows?

Its not about the stand in proper footwork and be able to drive the ball..  its the falling back, off balance throw that he has no chance at.  That last game on 4th down was the clear evidence that he's not that guy.  He had a defender in his face (but had plenty of room, but was off balance) and had a wide open WR about 15-20 yards away, and couldnt get the ball there.  Thats the type of throw that a QB with proper ARM strength can make with just his arm.  Hurts didn't have the juice to get it there.  In the NFL, QBs need to have enough arm strength, just in the arm to make the off platform throws.  I couldnt care less what the QB's arm strength is when he has time to wind up, etc.   Thats the exception in the NFL.  Most plays he'll not room to step into the throw, have to move as he releases, etc.  What kind of juice is on the ball in those situations?  That's what matters much more than the combine number.

Just as I generally don't care about the 40 time out of a track stance in shorts.  Being fast then is far less important than with pads on.

You've convinced me.

this offseason is going just how a good portion of tate wanted it to so far, after the last year.  i mean, we can't get rid of the whole roster...  but moving the "key" pieces is as close to a clean slate as we can get.  i look forward to the upcoming dumpster fire of a season.  anything over 6ish wins (?) would be a pleasant surprise.

Yep, only thing left is to get rid of Howie.  He gets one more chance to clean up his mess.

But we will have a reason to watch again now that the black cloud of the diva has been lifted from the franchise!

We have his college offensive coordinator/ QB coach on the staff.

I dunno, they didn’t want to give a first for Stafford. I think they have interest but will get outbid

True. I wouldn’t give up a first for Stafford either at 33 with having major back issues in the past.

It’s why i said it. However i don’t like trask. I was joking

Again, more undertones that Carson has been a problem behind closed doors.

It appears that Howie will release ALL THE DIRT as soon as the deal is struck!

Fair play to Joe Banner.

I haven't listened to Birds with Friends for a while, I needed a break from the virtue signaling. Someone told me this recent episode was good, so I decided to tune in because they had Brian Flinn on and I wanted to hear his take on Wentz. He said he doesn't think Wentz is very good and they should trade him. Also strongly advocated going WR at 6.

However, they still found a way to sneak in the Duce Staley stuff again and at a later point in the episode, Bo gets on his soap box again and goes "I want to just say, can we stop talking about McVay and Stafford hanging out together when the trade went down? They shouldn't be vacationing right now during a pandemic."

Yeah because you can't safely travel during a pandemic and still follow protocols. Bo's weekly trip to Wokestan every episode even when there isn't anything topical in the headlines is the reason I'm not going back to the podcast for a while. I took a break and the first Fing episode back he still finds a way to spout this virtue signaling garbage.

Tell me, what GM would do anything different? You hire an HC who was an OC, QB coach and WR coach, under a HC who was an OC and QB coach and NFL QB. You're not going to trust the judgment of your new HC concerning which QB you should  keep? Especially when he hires an OC with experience with QBs and a highly regarded college QB coach?

Maybe Dan Synder or Jerry Jones, but Lowie have always deferred to their football people, I'd say their performance reflects which football people they rely on, but that's no different than hiring a GM, you only find out in hindsight whether that was the right choice - so it's the same issue but easier to fix.

So if Wentz is traded, Siri didn't want him, whether it was due to learning that he was a "Diva" (questionable source), or something Reich told him (but if Indy is one of the suitors, that's unlikely), or something he saw on film.

The cap hit is the same, so it won't be driven by the cap (ideally you turn him around, then trade him in two years when the cap his is greatly reduced and his trade value is maximized).

While they could use the draft picks, they could use a top QB more.

Name any real franchise QB that has had to?  Just find me one.

Tom Brady comes to mind.  The Patriots drafted Jimmy Garappolo in the 2nd round in 2014.  At the time there were reports that Brady wasn't happy about them drafting his apparent future replacement.  How did Brady respond?  By winning two Super Bowls while Garappolo backed him up.

Two 1sts is the price Howie should be asking.

Again, the Eagles don’t NEED to trade Wentz; other teams NEED a QB.  Everything depends on how many teams are interested; if it’s 3 or more the price goes up.

One 1st, a 3rd, and a young player on a rookie deal would also be adequate.  Howie would probably settle on 2 of the 3 as long as the first round pick is there.

Give me the Bears 1st and their young stud CB Jaylon Johnson who's only into year two of his rook deal. That would be an absolute home run. Trade back from 6 to 9-13 grabbing extra picks for this year and next, trade back 20 to 25-30 doing the same, and now we're cooking with fire. Howie just needs to listen to his scouting dept and Weidl on who to actually take.

That's an undertone that Carson is a problem behind closed doors?  Or that they dont think he's durable enough or salvagable enough compared to what he might being in a trade, versus his cap cost moving forward.
