So after we trade Wentz we will still have a huge cap hit  no matter what? I have read some places that we couldn’t restructure before trade to lessen some of the cap it.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Fluke run?! Guy out dueled Tom Brady in the super bowl. You’re a cowboys fan

Yeah a career journeyman backup that has quickly flamed out everywhere he has gone out fueled Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.  That's what we call a fluke run.

Just the same as that was a fluke great year for Howie.  Hitting on pretty much every bargain bin one year veteran signing that season.

I want the second offer

The more rumors that come out the more it makes me feel it will be a team not mentoned much with a better offer. Just like Stafford, it was all about the Panthers and 49ers then all of a sudden its the Rams that land a blockbuster. Rams were mentioned but all teh eyes and rumors were on the Panthers and 49ers.

So who is that sleeper team that could bit on the rumors and up the offer? Patriots? Denver?

I think it makes a ton of sense for the Pats

If I’m the owner of the Eagles and I know that team is going to be not good next year because of the rebuild at least I know Nick Foles is going to grab the attention of the Fanbase and I could exploit that and make money off of that while my team is going through a rebuild.

Business move wise it makes sense. On the field less so.

I don’t see it making sense from any perspective. You can win a few games with Foles and hamper the rebuild.
having the former sb mvp back up hurts and when we are 1-7 at the midway point it’s going to be anarchy. If fans are allowed in stadium next season, the linc will resemble a jags home game by week 12.

It would be bad from the standpoint that it would show that the FO is still hung up on wanting to re-live 2017.  Howie and Lurie need to understand that the Super Bowl was 3 years ago. They need to stop comparing rosters to 2017 and stop evaluating Howie as if it is still 2017.

I think it’s more of a publicity move and knowing that their team is not going to be very good next year so they want to sell the fan base on something instead of we’re doing a rebuild and we’re gonna suck. At least Nick Foles allows them the ability to have some marketing and some Extracurricular stuff off the field that they can sell to the Fanbase. I don’t think Jeffrey is stupid he knows this team next year is in a rebuild and likely not very good and needs to sell people on something

The reason for Foles/Cohen is probably Bears need to clear some cap room.

However all these rumors sound more like initial proposals than final deals.

For all we know, Siri told Howie he'll need a week or two to make a decision, but let's field calls and see what people are offering.

For one thing, these deals don't sound worth taking, and you'd expect something more on the order of a 2021 2nd, and conditional 2022 2nd that becomes a 1st if Wentz hits certain targets.

If all Howie can get is a late 2nd, he's better off keeping Wentz and hoping for a rebound under Siri (unless bridges have been burnt).

If Foles comes back, does that mean you leave?  Or would we need to sign Rueben Randle to make you happy?

Or hire his boy hue Jackson

I don't know if Wentz could handle working with Bill. If Wentz thought Doug was difficult, then Belichick would be a rude awakening.  Belichick wouldn't tolerate Wentz's poor mechanics and I'm not sure if Wentz wants to work on his mechanics. He just wants to sling it.

You cant restructure, BUT if the trade is processed before the 3rd day of the seasons we do not pay the roster bonus of 10 mill, the new team would have to pay that so we save a bit more then expected.

I guess but unless I'm missing something what WRs do they have?  Montgomery is a nice RB but what else is there?  But you're probably right as both Pace and Nagy need to win now.  Just not sure Wentz and no weapons again will accomplish that.

Chicago is a tough city as well.  They will criticize you just like Philly if not playing well.

I agree with everything you said but to me it’s what’s the better option? To me it seems like they are buying a lottery ticket that has the better odds

The Eagles need to clear cap, too. So, I don't think taking players with salaries would make sense. They should try to strip it down to just picks , if they can.

Why not?  We’ve got dozens of Washers on here who think Carson is some kind of savior because of 2017 lol.

Denver makes sense.  I'd rather they send Wentz to the AFC.

I have a feeling if he ends up in a good situation with good coaching he can be really good.

I was a big fan of Wentz as recently as this year but seeing what a baby he is and how mentally weak he seems I lost respect for him.  I appreciate his contributions in 2017 before he got hurt but now he can F off.

I really don’t think Sirianni and two weeks of tape grinding are the impetus to a deal.

Well then a fluke git the Eagles a Super Bowl. You should be more respectful of that

Howie was still comparing the rosters to 2017 in the after season post conference. So, they are still stuck on it to a degree.

It’s going to be anarchy next year anyways when they suck. You think fans the casual fans are just going to be accepting of this team being awful? You, me and people in the blog might have a level head knowing they’re going to rebuild and expecting this.

and when they are one and seven, what do you thinks gonna bring fans to the games? Oh I can see Nick Foles play quarterback the Super Bowl MVP when I didn’t get to see that the two years he came back and played the way he did. That is business marketing. It makes a ton of sense to get people to show up to games if foles is starting. The casual Eagles fan wants to see Super bowl hero nick foles

Oh I don’t disagree they’re still stuck on it. I don’t think this move is about that. I think it’s a public relations and business marketing move that helps the Eagles next season when they’re in a rebuild and fans are pissed off that they suck. At least they have Nick Foles to sell to the public

More respectful? I should be dishonest and act like I think we would be better off with Foles in 2021 starting over Hurts? What exactly do you expect Foles to do with this bad team if he were starting?

Welp.

Or it could be he's "cleaning up" if he's the one that leaked the rumor.  If you're the Bears F.O. it wouldn't be that difficult to figure out who leaked it.  You know Foles wouldn't leak it.  The draft pick can't leak it.  So that would leave the GM (Doubtful) and maybe Nagy/the owner.  So the only remaining suspect would be Cohen...so they probably told him to clean up the rumor since it's costing them trade leverage.  And they don't want a Twitter storm of naysayer Bears fans trying to kill the deal before it's done.

100% my imagination and a wild guess but fun to speculate.

I think it is more Lurie to be honest. I think part of it is fan sentiment. But, I think Lurie now has a soft spot for Nick due to the SB.  I thought it was possible Nick would return before he retired, but I thought it would happen a couple of years from now.

Which is yet reason number 6874 that Howie needed to be gone too.

Saw this offer and not sure I like it more than that of Chicago.

Yeah, this was the dude claiming we were moving into top 10 last draft (first claim was trade with Chargers) and not being denied for Ceedee Lamb. Pick after pick he doubled down, until Jerry took him, of course.

I don’t disagree that’s part of it. But I think this has way more to do with the Eagles realize next year’s gonna be rough. What can they sell the fan base to make it less rough and make money off the fan base who’s going to be angry at them? Nick Foles checks off that box.
