If he doesn't want to return, he'd be lying. So maybe the silence is his best move?

Agreed. If he doesn’t want to be here he should keep his mouth shut. I’ve said that from the beginning.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Most teams don't try to draft their future franchise QB at #53.  If they believed in Hurts that much then they lied about wanting a competent backup or they're fools for waiting that long to draft 'their guy', especially when there's multiple reports that they were very interested in Jordan Love.  So either way dysfunction and narcissism because you didn't have the balls to draft your guy in the 1st Round because of how it would look (and couldn't lie that drafting a 1st Round QB is just a backup) after signing Wentz to a big contract or because you preferred your 2nd choice, who in all probability isn't as good, to save face.  This current FO is pure rubbish and that includes Lurie who allows all this shite to happen.  Point is we have no idea what they think because their choices have been so stupefying and erratic it's like asking someone on meth to explain String Theory.

That’s the thing...@ 53 It’s too rich for a backup, especially when you just extended your starter.

but it’s too low if you had any inclination to really challenge your starter.

none of it makes any damn sense, but my point is, I’d much prefer they see what they have in Hurts before investing in a QB again.

and this is coming from someone who doesn’t t believe in Hurts as a starter at all.

You are looking for logic.   Lurie and Howie follow the hot trends... and change direction when the wind blows a different way.   We need to be above the rim 12 personnel... get Goedert... get JJAW.   Aw crap, that didn't work, now we need speed lots of speed.  Sign Desean, draft Reagor, trade for Goodwin, draft Hightower, draft Watkins... get Hurts (fastest QB in the draft), draft Taylor...    Aw crap, that didn't work...

Same can be said for drafting highly productive college players over potential... then they went the opposite way this past year... all potential, extremely limited production.

Yup.  Which is why I described them as monkeys chasing bananas.  Always one step behind and changing directions and going for whatever flashes in front of them.  No consistent plan to work off of, no structure.

I mean, none of them have been remotely as successful as Roseman AND they all have long-term questions.

Howie should be fired, but he's not Gettleman-level bad.

That's all that matters.

But, Howie has been successful due to 2017... which wasn't a build up or an execution of a master plan.  He threw a bunch of darts at the wall, nearly every one stuck and they had a magical run.   But, since then every dart he's thrown just goes to show exactly how lucky that 2017 run really was.   That was a 1993 Phillies style run... it came out of nowhere, and then they crashed and burned afterwards.   The Eagles were buoyed by the terrible division they play in otherwise, they'd have been relegated to the pit of despair sooner.

There was no plan here... and the plan to maintain what they had in 2017 was in direct opposition to what they did in 2017, and what they had historically done since the salary cap has come into the league.   Just bad management, with horrific drafting.

Is Gettlemen really worse? I'm not so sure.

2004 was a long time ago.

That's one of the stupidest sayings out there.   It's not true.  You don't miss a shot you don't take.  Sometimes the better play is a pass, or to drive the lane.

This is a situation where revisionist history is great.  We loved Howie for 6 months out of his how many years here?

Nope....

refer to the definition of insanity...when you miss and don't change, then it's an issue.

you're welcome

He won Exec of the Year, and rightly so.   But literally every thing since then proves that he has no clue what he's doing or how to sustain success.

Most of the mock drafts I do on PFN has CAR offering their 2022 1st round pick just to move up from #8 to #6.  They will definitely be drafting a QB, because Teddy is too expensive to take on even for one season in a trade.

I get the feeling Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, and Lance all get drafted in the top 6 picks.

in this case i don’t think it matter. The worst thing they were going to say to was no. And even if the Rams moved on cause of it the market was still red hot

If I could I would I would too. My house is just over 6k sq foot. Lurie's basement is prob 20x the size and has all kinds of fun stuff. Arcade, water park, naked room, strip club, 5 star restaurant, mini golf, and a roller skating rink. Someone please forward my mail.

But his entire house smells like moth balls. Pass.

You think Dolphins keep Tua? He was benched twice for Fitzpatrick. Would have been a 3rd time if Fitzpatrick wasn't on the COVID list

Meh I'm not sure. Unless they saw some giant issues I don't really see NFL teams giving up on a QB they drafted that highly that quickly. Wouldn't surprise me either way though. They realistically could have 3+ teams with high first picks calling them on draft day looking to deal for that 3 spot though, which will absolutely be factored into the pros/cons for them. Not a bad spot to be in.

We agree on the foolishness of the pick and a lack of confidence in Hurts as a QB to lead the team to SB runs.  I don't see him as that guy even if they put a bunch of talent around him.

If they do trade Wentz then starting Hurts next season is really the only option.  At least for them.  If they draft another QB early this draft then the questions will arise as to whether they have faith in Hurts and if they don't then why trade Wentz.  Be hard to spin that "We wanted a quality backup on a cheap contract" for the 2nd draft in a row.  However, with a lack of young talent on the team and a whole new coaching staff still under pandemic restrictions so no full TC and PS then this team could be picking top 10 again next draft and possibly with an extra pick acquired in a Wentz trade for ammo to move up and draft a QB.  Though, the 2022 QB draft class, right now, doesn't seem to be that good.  They've dug themselves a nice little hole here.

They have already laid the groundwork for the reasoning.  We’re a QB factory, remember 😂

Lurie probably has a grotesque McMansion with lots of very pretentious eclectic art.

I love fans defending the team saying it’s hard to find franchise level QBs. Meanwhile we have the eagles organization fancying themselves and using phrases that they are a QB factory. Since they are a QB factory it should be easier for them.
