I can’t believe we wasted a second round pick on a developmental QB because the cost of a good backup QB is high.

And now the team sucks so having a good backup QB to win a game or two is pretty much meaningless.

Howie is so dumb.

And of course all it did was cause a qb controversy

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

He better not, if Chase isn't there, this is a no-brainer pick.

Well Howie has no brain soooooooooooo

Has nothing to do with Wentz.  He coached his team poorly, didn't coach to player strengths.  The team lacks talent, but is not devoid of it.  The talent they do have is either used improperly, or not at all.  Sanders, Fulgham, Wentz,  Hurts, offensive line all examples this season.

When people use the term "wentz washer" because you have the gall to have an opinion different from theirs, then it's time to ignore them. They bring nothing to a discussion other than their irrational hate for a player,

Hurts has looked good, better than Wentz; who, save for a miracle offer, is here one way or another next season. The team needs to draft a QB. The question is: where. I'm gonna say 3rd rd or later. THAT'S what Hurts showed me.

He showed me that right now HE'S the starter on this team. We'll see next July if Wentz can look any better with the same pitiful coach that will make neither of these players better. THAT'S THE CRUX.

Howie's made some reaches that didn't pan out. But like it or not, HURTS DID PAN OUT. The foresight to see we might need him, was brilliant. And when Howie's picks go to other teams and play well, they're still bad picks? NO. Howie needs to give up draft involvement for reaching and then missing too often. But he's not as bad as he's being made out.

DOUG is the effin problem. He's making everyone around him look bad, and Wentz just piled it on. Half of this team doesn't want to play for Doug already next year. Ask Miles Sanders, who could've contended for a rushing title had he been given the ball. Doug has to go.

Do you only watch the first half of games?

Hahahaha.  Oh I don’t think so.  Too bad we can’t resurrect the old board.  But a lot of people were resigned to be ok with the pick and looked for multiple ways to justify the thought process behind it.  I and few others remained steadfast against the pick.

Of course you try to figure out what the reasoning was but I don't remember anyone but Wentz haters trying to justify it at any time.

You’re right.  It was the first round reach, Reagor, you were warm for.  Not the second round reach.  My bad.  My apologies to Manu.  But there was a large portion of people in here justifying in the next day.

I'm guilty of that as well.

It’s worthwhile to discuss and attempt to see the rationale through the team’s perspective. It’s a discussion board.

I told you guys that the Mailata hype was out of control and people were just desperate to fawn all over him.

Look how great Matt Pryor looks if you pretend he's Mailata.

I am guilty.   I keep thinking....which is likely the problem

Oh no.  There were plenty rationale non-trolls that got lukewarm on the idea the days after.

Like what was the thought process? At the time I hated the pick wanted another weapon for the offense. Some thought maybe it was a Hill type pick and some thought he would be a good back-up which would have been okay in my book but I still would have rather had a wide receiver.

I do remember people arguing that a good back-up was needed. But if "lukewarm" is the best you can say then I don't really feel that's much of an argument.

It's all good we had one that hung around the old board for years and years. He came here briefly. It's always been my hope that trolls would starve but my point is they never have.

But you’re willing to admit it.

Manu and I have disagreed vehemently about things in the past. But I've never known him to be dishonest .

I wasn’t referring to him

Okay, well fair enough I guess. I'm not sure who you are referring to so I can't speak as to their honesty (or lack thereof). But I have built up relationships with a lot of the guys in here through here over the years and I would say that most of the "regulars" aren't afraid to admit when they are wrong.

I mean what's at stake? Kingship of the blog?

Did that even happen this season?

Doug was too smart for that kind of predictable play.

People arguing that a good back up was needed to justify that pick were wrong and are still wrong.  So you’re right, maybe lukewarm is the wrong term.  "Bought in” might be the term.

I think a good back-up is needed, I don't think Hurts is all that good. But because of his running, I think he could win you a game or two if the team was decent to begin with if a starter goes down.

Seemingly Doug made it through his meeting with Lurie yesterday so it looks like next year will be the same as this, probably worse. Question is will next year be it for the two clowns in charge?

4 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

I don't believe that meeting happened yesterday or had the context we had thought it would.  The presser on Monday with Howie, told me all I needed to know.  Lurie would not have let them have that press conference if he was going to can one of them.

They probably discussed Doug's favorite ice cream spots.

I know most of you don’t care.  But it’s time for Roy Williams at UNC to move on. He has a great freshman class, two top 5 PG in that draft and they are a mess.  Two years in a row they can’t get a highly rated guard/s to play up to their potential.  They can’t shoot and turn the ball over.....a ton.

This has always been an issue for Roy.  He needs 2 seasons with a class to get them playing.  He's won 3 Championships.  I think they will do well in the ACC Tournament and they will make the NCAA Tournament.  He's not going anywhere unless he wants to leave given his legacy.  It's also not like there's an heir apparent waiting in the wings.

:offtopic:  Has anyone in the Blog received the vaccine yet?  If so, I am sure it was just the first initial shot since the second is supposed to be a few weeks later.  Are the symptoms from the first shot or the second shot?  Anyway, I am looking forward to getting mine.

No but my daughter has. Side effects for her was a sore arm and light flu like symptoms

My wife had a sore arm and a bruise, nothing else.

Just now, 4for4EaglesNest said:

That just came with the first shot?  Or has she gotten the second one already?

Just the first. She said that the 2nd has allegedly worse side effects.

There isn't a Roy Williams waiting in the wings, that's for sure.  I know he will never be replaced, it would have to be on his terms.  I just know that these freshman guards are not matching up to their potential.  With players being one and done, they will have to figure a way to get these young guys to be able to play.  DayRon Sharpe should go in the draft this coming year.

I mean he has been able to keep them for several seasons.  I mean it happened with Ty Lawson, Raymond Felton, Joel Berry. Not to mention that they had highly recruited forwards like McCants, Danny Green, Meeks and Jackson that were upper classmen.  They were all highly recruited and juniors when he finally won with them.  He just doesn't tend to win with one and done players.  I mean think the last one that played a real role was Marvin Williams but he wasn't a starter on that team.
