That's not true.  When acquiring him via trade, the Eagles would only be on the hook for salary or guaranteed roster bonuses.

He'd cost them $1.4M to cut in 2021.   They could be free and clear after that.

You're forgetting that he fits perfectly in the Howie Roseman strategy of trading for and giving backloaded extensions to hobbled vets.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

For the same reason everyone criticizes the Hurts pick, if he's not going to start immediately, and you think you're going to push for a playoff spot, then take a player who can help the next couple years, not a project who might start down the road.

The 2011 Eagles were similar to the 2019 Eagles, 8-8 but Vick got hurt and Vince Young went 1-2, they had McCoy, DeSean, Maclin, Avant, Celek, Peters - Mathis - Kelce - Watkins - Herremans, a top ten defense in points allowed. So they wanted to win now.

2012 the wheels fall off, Peters injured after 4 games, Kelce gets hurt, Herremans lasts 8 games, Watkins a flop, the OL is Dunlap - Mathis - Reynolds - Scott - Kelly. The offense was 29th in points scored. Sound familiar?

The 2011 Eagles were 4-8 before the last 4 games of pyrite.   The team was not in position for Win Now mode... but, Andy's career arc was.

Lotta coyotes in the city this year with mange. Poor ****. Do you eat the coyote? Or is hunting them more about population control?

I'd have to imagine this is exactly it.

Population control. But I have only had 1 decent shot and that was from accidentally calling one in during spring gobbler season. Only other shot I had was with my muzzle loader and well. I didn't even scare it away.

So who eats 3.5m in 2022 if they cut him?

That's the prorated signing bonus.   All signing bonus counts against the team trading the player at the time of the trade.   It costs the Bears $5.25M in dead money to include Cohen in this trade.  So, they'd be saving themselves peanuts this year on the cap trading him.   (he just signed the extension this season at the end of September.)

I was doing field work in a mountain range that borders White Sands Missile Range. We were at the the top of a peak above the tree line. Suddenly, two German Air Force jets came screaming overhead. We did not hear them until they were right on top of us. There were directly overhead as we could look directly up to see their undersurfaces and they were less than 100 feet above our heads.

Scared the crap out of us!

I've got 2150 hours of B52 time. We were flying a Red Flag exercise years ago. We were at 200 feet and a Turkish F5 flew UNDER us.

Good times.

Yeah, Howie likely would give him a new contract.... cause he's Howie.

Give me Roquan Smith, Anthony Miller, and a 1st or Hines, Pittman Jr. and a 1st.

Andy Reid doing Andy Reid things.  12 running plays, 54 passes.

That's much better then.  My interest goes from negative to zero.

In trading Wentz, I would be very open to 2022 draft capital instead of 2021.  Other teams will be more willing to part with it.  There figures to be a better, more scoutable CFB season...if the draft is less of a crapshoot, it's better to have draft value then.

Not to mention, after 1 year of Hurts, we'll know if we need to maneuver for a qb or if we are drafting weapons for Hurts.

I'd be more than happy to take a 2022 1st instead of 2021 if it helps to seal the deal.

Let me tell you I think I know the answer to that right now.

What? I'm an old man and I loved Avengers.

Haha. I was hiking with my dog one time early morning in the winter...we were down in a valley. I was fiddling around with some of my camping gear, and my dog was loose doing his thing. Well, from the top of the valley hill comes 3 deer, running full sprint, down the hill and right past me (about 50 yards away). I thought, that's really odd, I've never seen deer sprint like that.

Sure enough, about 30 seconds later, a pack of 5 coyotes came screeching down the same hill, on the trail. I got my dog to come over to me, and we just watched. Generally coyotes don't give me concern, but seeing a pack like that was something else. Dunno if they ever caught up to those deer, but I'll never forget it.

What's next on the menu in spring for you?

So do I.  I think Hurts is a horrible passer and always will be.

I'd draft a QB in round 2-3 this year...one of the big names will drop.  Throw him in the mix.  Mac Jones won't escape round 1, but he'd be my guy if he did.

But if we don't get someone in the draft, might as well coach up Hurts and let things play out for a year.  The only alternative is Suds....which may be a good one.  Just as we pulled a useless Hurts for an even worse Suds in q4 to ensure a loss, a similar strategy may help for 2021.

Yeah, but they couldn't run the ball at all and were falling behind fast that first half.

This is a well thought out counter-argument. I cant wholly disagree with the 'win-now' argument. But the real issue still exists. I dont want to hear after the fact that your really wanted Wilson. Its such a cop out, and it's almost certainly leaked by Roseman and Co to cover their ass... they need to give the illusion of competence.

If Howie gets the #20 or #21 overall pick as part of a trade package for Wentz it’s a distinct possibility the Eagles look to draft a QB at #6 (hopefully not try to trade up for one).  If he somehow gets #8, 9, or even the #12 pick — he’d almost have to look at drafting a QB

For me would be a hog hunt in N.C. in April and then Spring Gobbler in May. Spring Gobbler is the absolute best season for me. Very exciting.

For this rebuild, especially considering the disarray of the team, I'd have less interest in going "all-in" for a QB.

Let's build an impenetrable OL and let's stack up on some incredible weapons.  Then find an exceptionally accurate but athletically unappealing (and therefore draft-affordable) QB to distribute.

You can take a few fliers on such QB's in rounds 2-3 for the next couple years.

That's a lot cheaper and, IMO, more reliable, than trading it all for one overhyped QB and then surrounding him with crap.

Just now, Sack that QB said:

I will be disappointed if the team doesn't get at least a first. I don't really expect multiple picks but wouldn't be surprised if we got a player back like Cohen or Foles as a salary move for the team acquiring Foles.  I don't think there's anyway the team is getting a starting caliber player or multiple first round picks.

Same.  I could handle having him for the $1.4M and let him 'prove it'.  But I don't want another small back.  I want a big back.

But, Sirianni might want a Hines clone...

Carson probably believes that the way the team is formed it would be pretty tough for him to play good enough to make a difference without getting injured. God forbid he plays "hero ball"

Is that why you think he is seeking a trade ? To me they accommodated him with a new staff besides he did sign a contract as well as cash in on the signing bonus. If he stays he should be all in which I think he will be ... if he doesn’t get the fresh start he is seeking

Liking or not liking Avengers doesn't mean anything regarding age.   It was one of those things that I think you missed out on a lot of stuff if you didn't keep up with the entire sequence.  I missed a bunch of the movies, found others mildly amusing, but some just felt like a waste of time.  So, when the final one came... it was a 'meh'.   I watched it because it was available as in flight entertainment as I flew from Germany back to the US.   But, it remains a 'meh'.  I think I know too much science to allow myself to suspend my disbelief on too many things.
