Question:  if Wentz is so uncoachable, why would Flip, Reich, Groh and Press want him?

Same applies to if he's a bad team mate.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

What the heck!!!  And here I thought I was being productive at work by clicking refresh on Schefter's twitter all morning for the trade news

Just took a look, and Foles' cap hits are manageable as well. Since the Bears would take his prorated signing bonus, he's only $8mm on the Eagles in 2021 I believe ($4mm salary + $4mm guaranteed roster bonus due March 20). For 2022, you could keep him for an $8mm cap hit ($4mm salary, $4mm roster bonus) if Hurts doesn't pan out and you need a bridge starter to a new QB you get in the draft.

I'm assuming the 2021 roster bonus goes on our books even though it seems the Bears were pro-rating it like a singing bonus. So I might have that wrong.

EDIT: Sportrac calls it an $8mm signing bonus, which would make the Eagles' hit in 2021 only $4mm. Even better.

Here's a weird question. Why would Wentz be getting offers but Watson not? I'm a big Wentz fan but I would rather have Watson at this point.

I'm guessing because two 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks is a non-starter (at this point) for most NFL teams.  But once Wentz is dealt, I'd suspect teams may begin to negotiate with Houston.

Thorson, I mean who cares about a 5th rd QB? Sudfeld was a 6th rd QB, All these guys are bodies to compete for a backup job, and most will fail.

JJAW is the only egregious draft error, even Reagor, let's see this year with a real HC (i.e., why wasn't he running routes that could exploit his RAC ability?).

Dillard, just bad luck, he should have been the LT to start last year.

Rebuilds shouldn't take more than 3 years, Eagles are drafting high in 2021, probably in 2022, in the teen in the 2023 draft, and then they'll have the cap money to add 3-4 FAs in their prime years as well as 1 year veteran patches. The 2023 team will probably have 6 or so starters from these three drafts, 8 or so "holdovers" from the current team, 3-4 UDFA/SFA types and those FAs. That's typical of any rebuild.

At 45, maybe his age accounts for the Asst. HC designation.  Old by the standard of other Sirianni hires.

There is this dumb narrative going around (Twitter, Radio, EMB) that the Eagles are trying to trade for Nick Foles and would we want Nick Foles back.  Would it cause drama or stunt the growth of Hurts.    This potential trade with Chicago is not about Nick Foles.  He would only be included in the trade to help offset some of the $$ Chicago would have to bring on with Wentz.  He would be a throw in.  Some fans are so short-sighted and dumb.

You forgt about the quarterback factory bro?

I don't think the Texans are actively shopping Watson. Watson wants out of there, but it may be their intention to keep him and try to salvage the situation. Or they're just playing hardball with him. The Eagles are actively shopping Wentz.

They had 12 running plays  the entire game

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I'm a fan of running the ball.

This is what I think might be happening.

As I mentioned before these reports about the Eagles trading him in "a couple of days" just sounded weird. Reports don't usually come out like that with arbitrary time frames.

I think the Eagles are leaking that to get one team to panic and include an extra pick or picks because Howie knows the criticism is front and center on him right now and he wants to commit highway robbery in a trade to be able to salvage some of his reputation. Especially since trading of Wentz in and of itself is a really bad look.

And no teams are biting yet.

Or they're listening to offers with no intention of giving him away.

What we really need now is a Carson tweet saying "just got back from vacation and spending a week off the grid. Welcome coach Nick, can’t wait to put in the work this offseason 🙏🤝💪 #flyeaglesfly”

I would legit laugh my actual ass off

And suddenly Viagra is needed for all the haters.

It would be smarter than any of the new proposed Rooney Rules. They should just have a date on the calendar that no team can interview or hire any coaching positions until the day after the SB. That way everyone gets a fair shake and opportunity to interview as well as put together your coaching assistants.

I agree but I feel like it would be tough to police that

So, with Wentz departure imminent, we roll with Hurts in 2021 and look to rebuild. What other veterans should we look to dump? The obvious ones need no discussion -- DJack, Alshon, Ertz, Malik Jackson, McLeod, Curry. I am sure I am forgetting some. Here are some more interesting names to consider:

BG: I love BG. Love him. But he is 33 and has an $18mm cap number for 2021. A pre June 1 trade doesn't save anything, but post June 1 it saves $13mm. I just can't see him being productive when we get back to being competitive. I'd see what I can get -- a 1 year, $13mm rental for a contender is a potential bargain.

Fletch: I would at least see what you could get for him. 2 years left, $33.1mm to an acquirer. Not cheap, but not terribly expensive. Another guy who will be past his prime before we turn it around most likely.

Slay: Not sure we would get anything interesting for him.

Marquise Goodwin: I'd give him away for the savings. Cut if need be.

Javon Hargrave: I think he stays if you move Fletch.

Brooks and Lane: can't see us getting real value with them coming off injuries.

I'm on board with ripping the band aid off completely and resetting at this point.

Roll out an offense with Hurts, Sanders, Reagor, Fulgham, Ward, Hightower, Watkins and Goedert. Line of Mailata, Herbig, Isaac, Brooks and Lane. Take the year to see what you have in Hurts and then reassess.

Every game day, every mistake. But they won't be bothering me. Biggest ignore list I've ever had.

Just have tampering rules in place like free agency. They will get bent and sometimes broken but it’s better than nothing.

Eagles go with a seemingly run of the mill RB coach as Assistant HC.

Lurie/Howie/Sirianni's strategy of hiring coaches for what they CAN be will likely result in some home runs and some duds. I hope Sirianni has the stones to cut bait when it's time unlike his predecessor.
