I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don’t feel like going back to find the OP but I’m calling BS on the Howie got in vets faces after a player only meeting. First, I’m not buying a talk show producer has credible sources no one else has. Second, no way would a pip squeak accountant get in the faces of players like Cox, Graham, Kelce, Peters etc.

 Who?     Howie "Gracie” Roseman??
There were rumors Rosey told Ertz  that he fold him up like lawn chair, it’s probably why Ertz agreed to play 2021 for the league minimum, that, or eat 2 months of meals through a straw.    Rumors of course.
Any chance Carson’s kid has dark hair and resembles a weasel?

In terms of RBs, sign me up for Jaret Patterson from Buffalo. Probably available in the 5th-6th round. A bruising, productive between the tackles back that could be the 'Thunder' to Sanders' 'Lightning.'

A 5’9” 195 lb RB is thunder? But a 5’ 7” 203 lb RB is already on the roster.  Give me a bigger back.  There are some decent larger backs that should be available in this draft.

When you, @Iggles_Phan and I agree, write it in stone.  Frankly, that is one of the things that excites me about Sirianni. That and his passing coordinator has experience as a WR coach.

It’s actually why i liked the sirianni hire. He’s worked with young players in San Diego and helped develop the WRs in San Diego. Then when you read up with his time with the colts they’ve given him a lot of credit with helping with pascal, Pittman, hines and some of the tight ends they have developed. I actually think that was a big reason why the eagles wanted him as head coach over someone like mcdaniels. I think mcdaniels they believed could be a good coach but maybe for a rebuild and developing he’s not the guy (also think how he would mix with howie and his past was a turnoff that was also factored in). To me i don’t think they hired sirianni strictly to fix wentz. I think they have seen the last 5 years and our young players besides a couple of them haven’t developed and i think that stems on coach but also player evaluations. However i think the eagles view it way more about poor player development coaching and they likely feel they have talent at WR where sirianni and his OC can get more out of.

that said i think it’s not just player development. I think it’s poor selection/evaluation of players as much. It’s a combination of both. I don’t think even the greatest player developers are making JJAW look as good as other WRs who went just before or after him.

Fair point. Just think he's going to be weapon at the next level. Runs bigger than his size. Sheds tackles and contact with ease.

I mean I'd love to go after Javonte Williams or Kenneth Gainwell, but think they will go somewhere in Rounds 2-3. Not sure the Eagles have the luxury of a Top 100 pick at RB this year.

You're right though. RB class is deep this year. Should walk out of the war room with a good RB2.

They need a back in this draft, maybe even two. A Jonathan Taylor plus a Nyhiem Hynes style backs. I'd take Javonte Williams and Javian Hawkins. Completely overhauled RB room. Scott and Huntley can compete for the 4th.

I think Scott can be Hynes.  I like Williams.  I also think Sermon is obtainable.

Forgot about Sermon. He'd be a nice addition to the RBBC. Wish Eagles had 4th this year. Seeing him go late 3rd-4th in most mocks.

It’s la canfora so it’s probably not true but interesting

I don’t think he’s missed a game in his 9-year career.  If it ain’t broke (yet), don’t fix it

Nope.  Goodell has balls.

And hopefully teams stop signing non top-5 QBs to mega deals.

Probably not true but I’ll like to believe it is

Doubt it. No book would give that odds and accept that bet for that very reason.

Ertz trade should yield the necessary pick.

If Wentz goes back to the 2017 Wentz, Lurie will regret it.

If he goes back to the 2019 Wentz, he won't. While that Wentz was fine, he was Kirk Cousins esque. Certainly not worth $25+/year. You can do a lot better than that and should look for better than that.

Either way, by the time the Eagles are good again, Wentz will be like 31 probably.

I'm ready for a full on rebuild.

People act as if Wentz is a lock to return to his 2017 glory. That was a long time ago, and a torn ACL/MCL, broken back, and concussion ago. I agree with you completely in that he is not a bad QB and should return to his 2019 level of play more or less. I had a conversation about his 2019 season with a buddy of mine the other day and he brought up what a great season he had. I asked him where he thought his 27 TD passes, 4,039 yards passing, 93.1 passer rating, and 63.9 completion percentage ranked in the league that year. He was shocked to find out that he was Tied for 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th in those respective categories. In today's pass happy NFL Wentz had a slightly above average season in 2019. Factor in zero playoff wins in five years, the contract, and all of the headaches this dude presents for a team and he simply isn't worth it.

For this rebuild, especially considering the disarray of the team, I'd have less interest in going "all-in" for a QB.

Let's build an impenetrable OL and let's stack up on some incredible weapons.  Then find an exceptionally accurate but athletically unappealing (and therefore draft-affordable) QB to distribute.

You can take a few fliers on such QB's in rounds 2-3 for the next couple years.

That's a lot cheaper and, IMO, more reliable, than trading it all for one overhyped QB and then surrounding him with crap.

Buc’s fell into it but there is the model. Stink for a few years and build your foundation and then go after a guy like Rodgers. When healthy way better than 43 yr old Brady who threw for a paltry 195 yds. Of course he didn’t lose it for them only 1 sack and no turnovers

My beef is with Howie and that pile of garbage he keeps throwing out there as a roster full of WRs.   And I'm not the one who has to throw the ball to them.   I just have to watch them be incompetent.

To me the jury is still out on the newer WR’s ( Raegor, Hightower and Watkins ), can’t judge them when the QB play was so bad. There are reasons for that ( OL, mechanics, playcalling ) so those have to be corrected first then we can make an assessment. I’ll go out on a limb and and say that Jefferson’s numbers would be cut in half he had been here

I'm still wondering how the Ravens missed the playoffs 4 of 5 seasons after winning at SB, isn't that one of the best organizations in the NFL?

Or maybe everyone gambles, sometimes the dice roll your way, sometimes they don't, Malik and Wallace were highly durable until they come to the Eagles, then they get injured, Jerrigan was durable, gets injured, Brooks was a horse, Dillard had no injury issues, and so on. Sometimes you have a bad luck streak (or your HC is too soft in training camp? How come AR never had these injury issues?).

The proof is in the pudding, if by 2023 the Eagles aren't competitive (i.e. 8-8 or so with one of the youngest teams in the NFL) then both Howie and Sirianni are probably gone.

But the next two years are about rebuilding, and I trust Howie to do that as much as most "football guys," too many franchises never get out of the rebuilding phase (see nYG, 1 PO appearance last 9 seasons, TB missed the PO 12 straight years before this season, and so on).

TB was built through the draft but it took a long time with lot's of misses:

2012: David #58

2013: Gholston #126

2014:  Evans #7

2015:  Winston #1, Smith #34, Marpet #61, Alexander #124

2016:  whifff

2017:  Godwin #84

2018:  Vea #12, Jones #38, Davis #63, Cappa #94, Whitehead #117, Watson #144

2019:  White #5, Murphy-Bunting #39, Dean #94, Nelson #107, Miller #208

2020:  Wirf #12, Winfield #45, T Johnson #161

They drafted better the last three years, but it helps to have #5 and #12 twice as well as #38 and #39.

Better highlight vea , he is one of their best players..nelson ,Miller good players at deep positions so limited snaps, dean starts and will continue to do so. mike Edwards  plays alot for them ,played 42 %  of superbowl snaps, again log jam at S position, Whitehead and Winfield  start

Plus players like Vaughn and Johnson who dont see field because of only so many touches to go around, they will have bigger rolls next year.

I know, but even Ertz downplayed that and there was no other anonymous player sources confirming it. I can’t even see Howie getting in a soft player like Ertz’s face.

He'd need a step ladder to get in Ertz' face.

This is what I think might be happening.

As I mentioned before these reports about the Eagles trading him in "a couple of days" just sounded weird. Reports don't usually come out like that with arbitrary time frames.

I think the Eagles are leaking that to get one team to panic and include an extra pick or picks because Howie knows the criticism is front and center on him right now and he wants to commit highway robbery in a trade to be able to salvage some of his reputation. Especially since trading of Wentz in and of itself is a really bad look.

And no teams are biting yet.

Wish the suitors wanted Wentz as much as he wants to be traded, Howie has to be ready to pull him off the table
