I would imagine the longer this drags out , the less they get in return.

The bidding war stuff is nonsense,  a team would have caved by now and went all in , if that were truly the case.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

yeah, Howie is going to overplay his cards.   Shoot, they should be happy if a team offers a first.  The rest is a bonus.  Don't get too greedy, pull the trigger and let Siri work and build this team.

They should have hurried up and traded wentz before teams had time to sit and watch last years film ,lol

I guess I'm in a tiny minority here but I think Hurts has a chance to be a really good player. His arm is good enough and he can work on that, He's obviously mobile, and he doesn't repeat his mistakes endlessly the way Carson did this past season. Hell, he was way better than Carson even coming in cold. And I got sick of Carson backing out of the pocket time after ttime.

Nah, I wouldn't say you're in the minority. Seems like a lot of people would prefer Lucifer himself over Wentz. But I do disagree with you.

SI article confirms what I’ve been saying for about a year now. Howie didn’t draft hurts to be the backup QB. they sold everyone on this theory it was about getting a cheap young backup QB but he saw hurts as a franchise type QB and that’s why they drafted him. They pushed this BS narrative Carson was on board and howie was lying through his teeth as he knew wentz was likely pissed at that fact. Doesn’t excuse Wentz crappy year but puts into perspective Howie is a Fing weasel and spins crap because he is a master manipulator. There’s a reason why former players continue to say it is him. That speaks volumes.

Doesn’t make sense if he has to defend the contract he gave CW, the $34mil cap hit and using the #2 pick in the draft to acquire him

Could you imagine if Howie somehow blows this and demands too much, other teams get QBs elsewhere and call his bluff and the Eagles are stuck with this mess?

I'm banking on it. The mess will be if he does trade him

wentz is a mentally weak QB , this all started to unfold when he got hurt against the rams , foles comes in and has a magical run to the superbowl win and teammates praise him and love him. now comes the off season and media and the talking football heads are on TV 24/7 saying eagles have to make foles the #1 QB , the team makes a commitment to carson and sends foles away. carson starts to feel he can't live up to the ledgend BDN and starts to show cracks. 2020 starts and he completely craps the bed and wonders why he gets bench cause he's a entitled 1st rounder that does not believe he needs competition. backup comes in and teammates praise and show support and media swoons over him , hence we now have this crap show that he feels betrayed and wants out cause he has never had to fight for his job and can't fathom it. i want a QB that wants to fight for his job and be here and wants to out work anybody behind him on the roster no matter how he feels about his boss.

I hope this is a joke. If not e-mail it to BGN they'll use you as a "source"

I agree that as this drags on, it doesn’t bode well.  There is no way they can spin this... if they end up dumping Wentz for a marginal return, how does the owner show his face again?  It’s a laughing stock.  Do they think they are going to pout their way into a better return?  Now that the leaks and fake stories have not worked?

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/09/report-eagles-dont-feel-theyve-received-a-fair-offer-for-carson-wentz/

Maybe time to ramp up th fake stories?  "Mysterious third team offers two 1sts, still not enough...”

No one is buying the BS anymore.

Allbright adds that the 49ers and Texans have called as well. Maybe a Watson trade is possible😜

That would be alright in my book

Could we extract more value from a Wentz trade if we included some guys we were gonna trade anyway like Ertz or Slay?

This is why you have CEOs and board of directors.

The CEO needs to be accountable to someone, but the CEO makes the decisions.

CEOs have people under them to make decisions. When they get involved it means someone else isn't doing their job. The CEO is held accountable for who he puts in place and the decisions they make. They don't make all the decisions themselves.

Hell my CEO couldn't run any of my stores even if his life depended on it and he wouldn't try. That's what I get the mediocre bucks for.

I think most fans don't understand the concept of "sunk" costs, you don't make decisions based on saving face over past decisions.

The only question for Howie is the best strategy going forward, and that is to focus on 2023 and the players who'll be on that team, and the cap room to add talent to that team.

If trading Wentz, whatever the return, is the best move for 2023, trade him, if rehabbing him is the best move, give it a shot.

Wentz helped win a SB, therefore it was a good move at the time (I mean that IS the ultimate goal, isn't it?). That was then, this is now.

That's why Howie is bad at his job. He needs to let scouts make the picks.

Yes

That would be ideal in my book but I just have a gut feeling that this is going to end up smaller than people are thinking.  Alllll of this buildup and multiple picks, players being named and who knows what's true.

I'd bet there's a greater chance we see Carson for a 2nd straight up instead of a multi--player deal.   I hope I'm wrong but like some have said last night and this morning already, there's a sinking feeling that Howie is going to drag it on too long, overplay his hand and mess this up.

Agreed. If Wentz wants out what are they supposed to do?

Tell him he's getting paid a poop load of money, things will get better, see you in camp

I don’t understand why some people like want to just blame one person for everything all the time. Just like the offense not being good this is organization failure at every level with everyone to blame.

I’ll say it first, part of the blame is for Carson sucking and regressing, absolutely.

Part of the problem is the GM giving up a ton of resources to draft Carson. Then giving him a lucrative long term contract that you structured in a way that you clearly had plans to restructure him this offseason. All the while giving him bad skill players at WR to work with. They got lucky with 1 year Alshon and 1 year Torrey Smith while Agholor managed to put together a good year. Before that you gave him DGB and Matthews. After that you gave him Mike Wallace that played 0 games with him. After that the solution is DeSean Jackson who is past his prime followed by Jag after Jag after Jag practice squad call up. After that, your plan was no veterans just draft young guys to grow with Carson. All of this besides 2017 is terrible decision making.

The other part of the problem is coaching. Whether the HC and play caller isn’t building an offense around Wentz to fit his strong suit or the QB coach begins coddling the QB, it’s failure. The HC should and probably did see the coddling and did nothing to stop it besides keep moving Taylor up the ranks.

And the final part of the problem is the owner for letting this all happen.

Pretty simple actually. They are Fing idiots.

I didn't think the Eagles would trade Carson. I've been surprised they're going in this direction, though maybe Carson is forcing their hand. Either way, I think it's the right decision, and I actually regain a tiiiny bit of faith in the decision makers for having the guts to do it.

You need a browns avatar. they've had the "guts" to do stupid crap for 30 years

That Brandon Robinson Twitter should probably just be disregarded for the time being. All he’s said for the last few days was Bears have the best offer and the last two days he’s just begging for the Eagles to accept the mystery offer so he can come off as having some kind of clout. He’s a clown.  Basically anyone named Brandon is a clown. Sorry to anyone named Brandon in here.

I wouldn't tell B.G. that

Consider the source  but none the less

The Eagles asking price, according to one team source, was ridiculous, laughable, and not worth countering. Until they lower their expectations, based on the uncertainty of the player and contract, their initial price will never be obtained.

Bad source, + it was obvious that the Pats wouldn't want to do this in a rebuild.

Scouts don't know the schemes and which players are best suited to those schemes, which is why they don't make these decisions, they provide the input for these decisions.

The whole reason you want consensus decision making for the draft is to provide that feedback, the scouts know the college players, but the coaches know who fits, so they need to have a dialogue that ensures the scouts provide the proper information to the decision makers.

The problem comes when scouts or coaches fall in love with certain players and aggressively push them, and start distorting their perceptions to fit their conclusion.

The next two years the coaches input will be most important in terms of who they think they can coach up, Stoutland lobbied for Mailata probably because he started salivating when the idea of turning a 6'8 340 rugby player into an OL crossed his fevered imagination. One advantage of Sirianni's staff is they have a lot of hands on coaching experience and have a sense of who'll respond to hard coaching - which is invaluable during a rebuild.

You don't start off by lowballing yourself, gee, I'll take any offer, it's a fire sale!

You dont ask for the moon either , it's a non starter ,you have to be realistic if you wish to be taken seriously .
