Are you referring to the first Philly Voice article that was 2 or so years ago?

Didn't players and coaches come out publicly to support Wentz over that? IIRC even players that weren't on the Eagles came out to support Wentz

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Russell Wilson not happy?  Maybe Howie should go get the real player versus the dime store version.

If Roseman can trade Wentz for Wilson, I will no longer want him fired prior to the draft.

Yeah, he was speaking as though he knew it for a fact.  Like I said, FWIW because Marshall loves the microphone, but Brian Westbrook was also on the panel and didn’t push back at all — he followed up something like hearing how hard Wentz pushed back whenever the Eagles tried to coach him on mechanics, etc.

Don't know if this guy is credible.  I mean he could be the twitter version of this blog.

If Wentz isn't happy here, and his teammates aren't happy with him, time to move on. What was paid in the past is sunk costs, at the time it made sense, and it almost worked out, Eagles couldn't predict he'd be this injury prone and it would curtail his development, but it happens, McNabb after 2005, Luck retiring early, RGIII, Tannehill in Miami. I think it does counsel care in drafting the newfangled athletic QBs, do they have the build to handle contact? One reason Russell Wilson can play this style is he's built like a RB, same with Hurts, whereas some of the running QBs may not last, Vick took a beating that wore him down by his mid-20s - getting suspended probably saved his career.

Siri can make it work with Hurts, Rivers didn't have much left in that arm, Brissett was an erratic athletic QB. Indy's offense.

The offense will work horizontally instead of pushing it vertically, Hurts can throw it as long as Rivers, but I doubt a lot of passes will travel more than 30 yards in the air. Instead, a lot of passes to backs (Sanders, Scott), TEs (Goedert, choose a H-back), WRs on screens and crossing routes, and 3 level routes. Hurts will have to improve his reads and speed up his progressions, but he won't be asked to sit in the pocket for 4+ seconds waiting for routes to develop very often.

Shaka Toney = Shariff Miller?

Got it. Was just wondering because there was a second Philly Voice article that said Wentz really opened himself up to the locker room and would travel to different players homes in the offseason to speak and connect with them. etc

Reading through his tweets, seems like's just speculating. Keeps saying only twitter rumors said an offer was made and not a reputable source.

Trill Williams is another day 3 DB that interests me

I know he used to be here on the boards but assuming this is also just speculation.

What a disfunctional squad we are going to have after Howie's FO spent the last two months feeding anti-Wentz stories to the media and then the Eagles aren't able to find a trade partner and he comes back unhappy.

And people accuse me of having my head in the sand because I choose not to believe anything that doesn't come from Wentz himself or the Eagles.

I would agree — I don’t really read the situation as a total fracture between Wentz and the organization.  I think it’s likely Wentz has told Howie and Sirianni he’d like to have a new start elsewhere, and the Eagles told Wentz they would gauge interest around the league, but only make a trade if it made sense for the organization.

If no one is prepared to offer 1st, 3rd, and young player in return it’s quite possible both sides will drop the matter and the offseason plan will resume, with Howie focused on dumping salary and seeing if there is anything in the FA bargain bin for RB and LB

Gonna have to wait and see who the new starting QB is.

Hurtsfan would make you pretty popular with people in the bondage arena

This is so drastic compared to 2017.

Lurie may be pushing back and demanding Howie get top value for Wentz.  I mean there was a lot of specific reports about players involved in a trade from Philly sources for there not to be a push by Howie to make the deal.  I could imagine a scenario where Lurie is hands off on the trade until he sees what an offer is and then nixes it.

You dont ask for the moon either , it's a non starter ,you have to be realistic if you wish to be taken seriously .

First offers and demands are often designed to ground a negotiation by influencing the other side.  Go to a car dealer.  They start with a ridiculous sticker they have posted on every car.  That is to get you thinking that lesser amounts are a good deal.   The thing is, did Howie want to be taken seriously or just ground the discussion against future negotiations.  Let’s say they go to camp and the battle between Hurts and Wentz is close or the team still has so many holes and short term vets that realistically they realize the team is fully two seasons away from the depth that it needs to really compete and a Bridgewater happens to another team, that starts looking around the league for an answer and set target on Wentz.  Howie has grounded the compensation discussion higher so if he is willing to move on from Wentz at some point the floor has likely risen.

This all does have a very Josh McDaniels feel to it with reporters jumping the gun and just assuming this is something that has to happen. It was only maybe a week ago Kapadia/Berman were saying they think its 80/20% Wentz is back next year then one report about Eagles listening to trade offers and they flip to he's 100% gone.

Now it feels like everyone is slowly walking back and saying "well, maybe he ends up staying".

I have a business,  and if someone made ridiculous demands to me , it's over before it started.

When I ask what type of salary are you looking for , I expect them to be realistic, because you may not be asked twice ,depending your answer

I think Howie gambled and lost with the Wentz trade.

He put out a bunch of fake leaks that a few teams were lining up with first round picks on the table.  He tried to create his own market.  If the market were real, at those prices, Wentz would have been traded days ago.

This time, I actually can't blame Howie.  Reasonable move to try and make something happen to add some value to a team with none of it.  The only loss here is that an exceptionally disgruntled Wentz will be coming to Eagles training camp.  But that's just a loss on the PR front; they are rebuilding and losing games either way.

Overall, not an unreasonable ploy to extract some value.

Not that anyone will be surprised but PFF rated the Eagles linebackers very poorly in coverage last year

I just don't see any way you can put the toothpaste back in the tube at this point. If they bring Wentz back after all this, it is dysfunction city all training camp.

If you don't move Wentz, you almost HAVE to move Hurts. But I don't see any way Wentz is still on the team after the new league year starts at this point.
