If we wasted a 2nd on him last year and Howard trades him for a 4th I'm driving to Philly and slapping the ish out of him. I think Hurts can be a very good back-up.

I can't fathom both QBs being on the roster going into camp. It's a recipe for a disaster of a season. The season may end up a disaster anyway, but I think it's completely unavoidable if both are here. And, if both are here and the season is ruined, it likely diminishes both of their values even further.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

why did AZ take the L on Rosen and draft Murray?

once you realize it was a mistake, you cut bait. not being able to admit when you've made mistakes is bad leadrship. aka Howie and now it seems Lurie too

it's bad leadership AND it just keeps compounding the original mistake

Arizona cant come out and say Rosen was a mistake or the Eagles cant say Wentz was a mistake.  It would be disrespectful to the player and make the franchise look bad.

Can't say he's credible, but he's a talk radio guy our Indy. This would be a surprising twist and would also really hurt Eagles leverage.

Didn't Falcons say they were keeping Ryan and Julio a week ago or so?

Trading the #10 overall pick a year later for a 2nd rounder is admitting Rosen was a mistake.

It's called negotiating.  just because other teams are trying to get Carson for as little as possible doesn't mean there isn't strong desire to have him on their teams.

That said Carson did have a bad year last year. I couldn't blame teams for being a bit apprehensive. Honestly unless there is a ton more going on behind the scenes that we aren't aware of the best case scenario is for the Eagles and Wentz to patch things up and see if he can be fixed.

dont watch what people say - watch what they do.

I agree.  But organizations cant just come out and say a player was a mistake.

DD is a blowhard but credible in Indy

suspect its the Colts trying to fake alternatives to a wentz deal

Meh, if anything, could have been leaked by the Colts to put some pressure on the Eagles to make a decision.  Now that it's been leaked that Carson prefers to go to Indy, it would make sense that Indy would get more serious about bringing him there.

Teams and athletes have mended fences more broken than this.  That's not my issue.  My issue is value.  The Eagles are going to be a very bad team in 2021.  I don't really want to hear about the WRs being better for the 4th consecutive year or how this will be the year that Brooks/Lane stay healthy.  Let's be honest here; the 2021 Eagles starting QB is not going to be in a position to impress anyone.

Whatever Wentz and Hurts are worth now, it's probably going to be less after the 2021 season is played.  Even if Wentz is better than 2020, banking another season of average or worse passing will only hurt.  And if Hurts starts...16 games of playing like a passing RB isn't going to do his trade value any favors.

We are going to be in the game for a new QB eventually.  It's just a question of how long it takes for us to accept it, how much pain we endure in the meantime, and how much value we can extract from the current assets at QB.

Do you think that's possible?  The latest reports are saying Wentz still wanted to be traded even after Pederson was let go and replaced by Sirianni.

I think Lurie might be getting rid of Howie at the moment. Wentz stays. I mean Wentz has had dialogue with everyone but Howie

I just looked at his contract. He's not getting traded. His dead money trumps Wentz's by a lot.

They did. His dead money is even more ridiculous then wentz. It’s 44.4 mil

After that abomination of a season Carson just had, no way you trade Hurts but keep Carson. If Carson is here, he’s competing for a job with Hurts - which is why Carson won’t be here

Hurts got on the field and played, though.  He clearly showed he’s a solid #2 but very pedestrian #1.  A clear case can be made that he played as poorly or worse than Wentz did

This might be delving into conspiracy theory levels, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lowie is blatantly putting out false information to try to find out whose leaking to the media and clean it up. I can understand some conflicting reports but then there's yesterdays "report" that Doug wanted to start Wentz which is the exact opposite of what Troy Aikman said right after Doug got fired that he talked to Doug and Doug wanted Hurts.

This the least plausible theory.  I mean journalists report.  Teams and players want things reported.  There's no leak that can be fixed.

Cue Godfather theme.

Lurie walks into Howie’s office, grabs him by the face and kisses his cheeks. "I know it was you, Howie.  You broke my heart. You broke my heart”

Last image of Howie is on a small trolling boat in the middle of Blue Marsh Lake

What a disfunctional squad we are going to have after Howie's FO spent the last two months feeding anti-Wentz stories to the media and then the Eagles aren't able to find a trade partner and he comes back unhappy.

If he "fails"...maybe the Howie the Clown will go and the organization with right itself and Carson will be happy.

for sure...there's plenty of risk management here as well

Way too early to tell that IMO.  If I had to bet I'd say he's probably not going to be a top-tier QB sure, but the kid is 22 and played a few games for a very injured and very dysfunctional team.

I think it's pretty obvious what happened.  The Eagles leaked that multiple teams were submitting offers for Wentz that involved a first round pick.  They tried to create a market and force someone to come out of the woodwork with an aggressive offer.  If the leaks were accurate and the market existed, or if the plan worked, Wentz would have been traded already.

It was a nice try.  Fooled a lot of fans and media, didn't quite work in the end.
