Thanks for looking it up

So another reporter just throwing out BS to get clicks

I still think a QB is in play for them at 4 though if they love one. I could see them taking one and letting him sit a year behind Ryan like the chiefs did with mahomes. At least in 2022 if Ryan is traded it’s 26 mil dead money but at least cap wise they get some relief. This year they don’t.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I can see teams taking a chance on him.

Why does Philly hate all of its sports stars?  Its a mental health problem Im guessing.  Theres a reason Mike Schmidt had his famous saying about the "thrill of victory..."

At this point I hope Wentz comes back solely to make these people crazy.  Go do something else if you cant even root for your own team without hating everyone and being a miserable F

feels like the perfect landing spot for Lance

I think it's pretty obvious what happened.  The Eagles leaked that multiple teams were submitting offers for Wentz that involved a first round pick.  They tried to create a market and force someone to come out of the woodwork with an aggressive offer.  If the leaks were accurate and the market existed, or if the plan worked, Wentz would have been traded already.

It was a nice try.  Fooled a lot of fans and media, didn't quite work in the end.

Pretty sure the 1st round pick part was likely accurate.  The "multiple 1st round" picks part might be the part that may be off.  (Or likely the Eagles asking price vs what they have been offered)

Sad

Marty Schottenheimer, a former NFL coach who led four teams to 200 regular season victories over more than two decades, has died. He was 77.

They and the Carolina Panthers make the most sense if you want trey lance. Because both of them have a quarterback situation that’s going to be more challenging to get out of the contract in the first year so he can sit and wait behind Teddy Bridgewater or Matt Ryan. If I had to guess those would be the two teams that make the most sense because they can afford to wait a year before starting him

Arthur Smith publicly committed to Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan's dead cap is 40+M and they have no QB on the roster, meaning they would have to draft one at #4. Matt Ryan is also an "old" 35. I think he has some years left, but he's year to year at this point in terms of being a competent QB. His splits with Julio are crazy.

Wentz had overwhelming support for the vast majority of his tenure here.  Probably given a longer leash (among the fanbase) than any other Philly sports star in history.

Even after he was benched he still had a ton of support among at least half the fanbase or more.   It wasn't until the rumors of him wanting to be traded that most fans said, "Well, if he doesn't want to be here then it's time to move on."

If he "fails"...maybe the Howie the Clown will go and the organization with right itself and Carson will be happy.

Lurie would never allow for his wonderboy Howie to leave.

At this point there is literally nothing left to evaluate and it is crystal clear that Howie and Lurie--if they ever even had a clear plan--have completely and utterly failed at their jobs

From a media standpoint, to personnel, coaching, contracts, everything.

When you take a step back and just think, they gave all of us a giant middle finger by closing the boards which was so petty and pathetic, ran all of the coaches off after it couldnt have been more clear that they were treated like garbage, set up to fail, and then fired without any real foresight....and are currently burning/bombing every bridge and salting the earth with Wentz.....what a freaking clown show.

I miss the old days where the website was amazing, there was a clear plan in place, and the ownership didnt think they were the smartest person in every room.   We really are paying for 2017, I believe it 100% in some cosmic karma way

I'm not sure what the ploy would be and who was leaking the information. We don't know what has been offered if anything.  I think Wentz is going to get traded and the question is whether he fetches less than a 1st round pick.  I'm unsure how leaking to the media that a first round pick is involved generates interest from other teams.  I mean Ballard and Pace aren't waiting on tweets from a reporter to know what they want to offer for Wentz. It's not like the GM for Carolina is thinking let me see what Schefter thinks the Eagles get in compensation before I call Howie.  So what does leaking to the media do? It helps maintain a relationship with reporters when you want something reported.  If the team is feeding BS to the reporters, it doesn't help the relationship.  It could help the relationship with the player if that relationship is strained. I think that's what you have going on in Texas where they want to keep Watson.  I don't think that's what is going on with Wentz and the Eagles.

You know, it's possible we have the leaks backwards. That the leaks of a trade being imminent came from the Colts and/or Bears, trying to press the Eagles to move Wentz and sour the relationship. Then the Eagles leak that nothing is close and they might keep him if no one meets their price. That makes just as much sense.

I think the leaks are byproducts of what the team is saying in private, not that they are going straight to the media to influence other teams/GM's. Like Howie could be talking to Ballard and say "well Bears are offering a 1st and more for Wentz", then that statements goes around the Colts facility, and then like whisper down the lane, little things get added on. "well the more has to be Foles, no way they have Foles and Wentz together again..." and then it reaches the media or twitter sources who "report" it as fact.

Half the fan base wanted Foles. Did you forget about that whole controversy?

The only time hes had "overwhelming support" was 2017, after that season it was over.

I don't think the rest of the league views the Eagles and Howie the same way die-hard Eagles fans view the Eagles and Howie.  Situations like the Wentz/Eagles situation is much more common than some Eagles fan think.

They don't. They see Howie as a good GM, given he's won a SB and been to the playoffs 3 times in the past 4 years. If he got fired, he'd get another GM job.

"Wentz apologist" is that guy a tater or what? Here's a clue pal some people never thought that a trade would happen by now.

:offtopic:

The media bowing down to Jason Licht to me is hilarious. Yes, he recently has done very well in drafts but before that he was terrible and made terrible decisions. He was arguably one of the worst GM's and likely kept his job because of Arians. This is like our GM situation just the opposite.

Yeah, that was one of the most ridiculous "articles" I have read. I think it's time for Howie to go, but the idea he is some league wide laughingstock is insane. Also, the Trubisky/Wentz comparison is stupid. Mitch has never approaches Wentz's level of play prior to 2020.

remember last offseason when we were trading Dillard because he cries?

The only time hes had "overwhelming support" was 2017, after that season it was over.

Half the fanbase wanted Foles after Foles came in the 2nd time to "save the season" not before then.  Even after Foles won the Super Bowl, most fans admired, respected Wentz and wanted him back.  Wentz's "MVP" chants during the Super Bowl parade were the loudest chants out of all.

The reason fans wanted to keep Foles AFTER the 2nd time he came in and "saved the season" in 2018 had much more to do with the fact that they wanted to be loyal to the guy that came in twice and saved the team.  It had little to do with them wanting Wentz gone.  If anything, they liked Wentz but just felt that Foles would have been a better fit for the team.

Then when Foles left, Wentz once again had support from most in 2019.  It wasn't until well into the 2020 season that some fans started seconds guessing again.  But even after he was benched, most had hope that he would eventually come back and turn it around....UNTIL....he "requested to be traded".  After that, his fan support fell below 50%, imo.

It's like people thinking John Elway was a good GM because he got Peyton Manning.
