I turn the game on mute as a superstition. I started it in 2017.

I was using a Reggie White jersey cause that's what I wore walking down broad street after the superbowl.  Think the magic is gone now though.  Might have to try Ben's method instead

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Huh?  So you don't listen to games while they are being played?

Nope. I usually know what’s happening during the games without them saying it. Only thing that stinks is injuries when they say it and i don’t have that piece of info. Usually have a beat writer like Berman on Twitter open cause he’s active with injuries

Who said that?  "Pennies" could be the Eagles wanting 2 1st round picks but have only been offered 1 so far.  Who knows at this point?

Just the fact that people are nervous the Eagles are going to somehow botch this and embarrass themselves even further shows you why Howie needs to go. That's the most dire feeling as a sports fan, having a GM you don't trust. You're always fearful they're going to either do something dumb or do something driven by their ego.

Because Lurie kept Howie and this dysfunctional front office in tact, there's no confidence they're going to handle this right.

And I think we all know that if Howie overplays his hand and other teams go out and get QBs and the Eagles end up dealing Wentz later for pennies on the dollar, Lurie still won't hold him accountable.

It's so sad what has become of our owner. He's just totally blind with Howie.

I've heard of fans muting the broadcast to put Merrill on but never full out "mute" on every game.  Did you have the Super Bowl muted?

Yup. Did that while season. It started against Carolina cause i couldn’t stand joe buck. I probably would listen to Merrill but the issue is the delay on the tv from radio and living out of town i have to jump through hoops to get the radio broadcast.

This I do.  Don't have cable so I'm delayed no matter what, so I would try to find a stream that used the Reese audio instead.  I'm a sucker for those shameless potato chip plugs mid drive.

Well, it obviously didn't work well during the 2020 season.  Do you plan on going "volume on" next season?

Well not as much as Stafford, that’s for sure

What makes you think that Lurie isn't involved in the process?  Or at least isn't given some sort of "step by step" of what is being offered, etc?  For all we know, maybe Lurie wants better compensation as well and is in agreement with Howie.  It's his money and his franchise QB that they are dealing with, after all.

If they want decent compensation or else they will keep Wentz, wouldn't that make the most sense?  They brought in an "offensive minded" coach who is supposedly good with QB's so maybe they feel they could turn his career around here if Wentz "plays ball".

It takes two to tango, if no one offers decent compensation, Howie just has to decide whether to take those pennies on the dollar or hold on to Wentz, the worst that happens is his value plummets to zero in two years and they get out from under the cap hit, the best is he tears it up in exhibition games and someone offers a "Bradford deal."

Having Wentz and Hurts in camp might get the media into a huff, but you always have at least 3 QBs in training camp, and this fall the Eagles will probably be auditioning lots of WRs, TEs and H-backs. So there will be plenty of reps to go around. And why should Siri care what the players think? Those who raise a fuss will have a new address. Most players will be more worried about their job with a new HC.

Simply no reason to dump Wentz just to dump him.

Schefter on ESPN said the Eagles have gotten good offers, but they're waiting for a Stafford caliber return.

Honestly i don’t really care what he does as long as he comes and plays like he does when we face good teams like the lakers. If he plays aggressive I’m happy. I do think he needs to learn to shoot but i think bigger issue right now is playing aggressive consistently. The shot was always going to take more time and likely years.

Who the hell is this?

This following post is speculation on my part and is mostly to do with the financial side of the business. Didn't see this anywhere as hinted or reported but think it makes sense.

I saw some people saying "Why would Wentz be so mad at Howie that he wants out?" If you look at his Wentz contract, it was structured IMO, that he obviously would be restructured this coming offseason. This is the first year his cap number shoots up compared to past years, and he has a fully guaranteed salary this year, a roster bonus of $10M this year and will have $15M guaranteed next year (at third day of the new league year.)

People can say Howie did a bad job with the cap and some of these contracts, and while that is a fair argument, this didn't just come out of nowhere. Managing the cap is not just short term thinking, you have to have a plan for 2 to 3 years down the line. Even without a pandemic, this year would have been tight and maneuvering would have to be made. Howie knew this.

Now, to get to the point. It is my belief that it is possible that when Wentz and his agent were negotiating his extension, certain promises were made to Wentz. One of them being that this year they would restructure his contract, take all that's guaranteed in his contract and convert it to a bonus that Howie could allocate across the future years, giving Wentz not only money up front but security in future years while giving the Eagles cap relief that is needed for this upcoming dilemma. After the 2020 season and with the way things went down, Howie has to go against what he promised as he can't tie Wentz closer to the organization for years to come. So now Wentz feels he's been lied to on top of not receiving the money and security he was promised. Therefore, relationship strained.

I also think this is becoming a pattern with Howie. Reports were out that there was confidence Ertz would get a new deal that would keep him an Eagle for life. Things started to turn, no deal got done, and then Howie after the pandemic offered less. Everyone knows the rest. There was clearly a strained relationship from Ertz this past season. There was a "heated exchanges" between the two. Why? I'm assuming the same thing. Howie made assurances that he had to go back on. It could have been something simple like the first offer would be on the table if Ertz changed his mind, and then took it off at a later date, or something else like that. It would not surprise me at all if Howie was, has or is being a "snake in the grass” as ex one player called him.

Schefter, Rapoport, Garafolo, Florio, McLane, Bowen, Mosher, Caplan, and others have all said Wentz wants out.

Not a single reporter has said Wentz wants to be here.

Does that mean they're all right? No. But if your counterargument to Wentz not wanting to be here is "maybe they're all wrong" with no actual evidence to the contrary, then that isn't much of a case.

Unless of course they are all just speculating just like some of them have admitted

Sure the old anonymous source with knowledge

Yeah guys.  Wentz is very happy here.

Probably not. I’ve grown accustom to it. Lol

Ben Simmons

It doesn't matter if Wentz is happy, he has no options.

Howie is not going to allow Wentz to force him to trade him to Indy (where reportedly he wants to go) at a discount, Howie's job is to do what's best for the Eagles, not Wentz. And it's not like Wentz is "an Eagle," like Dawkins or even Peters or Cox. Howie might do Kelce a favor because of his long history and identity with the franchise, but Wentz ain't paid those kind of dues.

Players want the money, don't care if that means a teammate gets cut, then talk about loyalty.

Howie's got to do what's best for the team.

I've never heard of that site.  Is that some sort of tabloid site?  Has it been reported anywhere else?  And if so, I'm not sure what he does in his private life (other than something illegal or intentionally hurting someone) should sway people's opinions on the the type of person/player he is.

This just makes no sense to me.

To a rebuilding team that does not aspire to compete, a QB has binary value.  Either you want to rebuild around Wentz, or you don’t.

If you do, you shouldn’t be floating the guy on the trade market.

And if you don’t, then a first round pick for a qb you weren’t building around anyway is a no brainer.  Take the best offer and run.

Holding out for more is just an invitation to get burnt and end up holding the bag on a pissed off Wentz and his contract.  Pigs get slaughtered and that’s what’s going to happen if Howie gets greedy while unloading a qb who wasn’t even in the plans.

This team never learns. Why another guy with a injury track record. Howie next year can tell Lurie how the eagles suffered a bunch of injuries.

I like Mack but not to pair with Sanders. They're similar playing styles, they need a Jonathan Taylor style back...

This would be my dream scenario

I expect if hooker doesn’t break the bank that he’s a guy coming off an injury at a position of need they’d go after.

Great young player but again, will cost a lot and has a significant injury history...
