I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Just to point this out with your links

in the last five years the eagles draft capital vs return is 95% only 8 teams are worse then the eagles.

meanwhile draft return in the last five years is 2.37%. There is 1 team worse than the eagles that’s the Jets.

Gotta do a better job there. Still wonder about player development being a major problem. Agh, Douglas and Sidney playing pretty well elsewhere, I know that analysis was done prior to last season if updated would those guys be included in the numbers ?

@austinfan

What good has Howie done since the Super Bowl?

You concede he’s been a mediocre drafter (yet you blame others for that), and you admit he gambled and lost with trying to keep the window open. You admit the Alshon contract was a disaster. We’re now in a 2-3 year rebuild after Howie and Co. alienated our once franchise QB, and destroyed our cap.

Let’s hear what he’s done well of late. I’ll spot you Mailata, even if Stoutland might have been the impetus behind the move. After all, Howie is a consensus drafter, right?

Curious to see the answers who would you say is the eagles best draft pick over the last 5 years?

wentz— drafted to be the franchise QB for the next decade and being dealt

sanders— good running back who has some nagging injuries throughout the 2 years

goedert— good tight end who also has been hit with the injury bug at times

mailata— starting to look like a future starting left tackle

jalen mills— started every year he’s been here

seumalo— above average starting left tackle in the league

barnett— solid starter who may or may not be here long term

Vaitai— solid swing tackle

sweat— good rotational DE might be able to be a starter if he can hold up which is unknown

Mailata w/o a doubt, best value by far

I’d point out like in philly jones only played 9 games and got hurt again. And Douglas after a hot start wasn’t as good as earlier in the season. Early in the year pff had him as a sold to good graded player. He finished the year at 60 which is not very good. Which his three year average in philly was 62. So he was below that. And it was his 2nd worst season behind his 2017 (64.1) and 2018 (69.6)

Yeah swing and a miss by that guy.  I could think of 1,000 better images (yours included) that represent how Philly would feel if Hoiwe is fired.  Feeling like we are in the future isn't one of them.

Howie's best moves have generally been free agents. It's not enough to justify his job though.

The Michael Bennett trade in 2018 was fantastic. Excellent value for the difference between a 5th/7th round pick.

There is drafting the right players, signing the right FA’s and not resigning and cutting players deemed either not good enough or not a fit. Injuries seem to be a problem especially for this team. Player development or lack thereof and putting players in a position to succeed by playing to their strengths, those are what separates the wheat from the chaff when it comes to coaching. Lurie needs to figure out how to hold people accountable. If everybody’s hands are in it then  nobody is responsible and everybody is. They need a new model because this isn’t good enough. It could be the scouting or it could just be the decision making and how it is based. Howie I hope is more concerned with making the team better than keeping his job.

A broken clock is right twice a day

is Noah Gray draftable?

just not seeing anything remarkable. wanted to like him, good hands, but might be limited to an h-back type role.

man i do NOT like this LB class.

Snowden will go to a 3-4 team as a rush OLB with those 34" arms at 6-6 232

Rice and Surratt both came in small with short arms. Surratt 6-1.5 227 with only 30 inch arms.

some of my later round guys with good measurables (Fisher and Barnes) are probably too slow.

in short. barf.

But only because of Stoutland. This goes to the argument that our coaches have been poor at developing players, Stoutland aside.

What?

There are some fun LBs: Parsons, Collins, Bolton, Owusu-Koramoah, Cox, Browning, etc.

Are those Senior Bowl measurements or have there been pro days already?  I know Trevor Lawrence has his tomorrow.  That size definitely hurts Surratt.  He was listed as 6-3 230.  He's almost in that tweener safety size.  I still like him as a player just no idea how he would hold up at LB with that size.

senior bowl

limits him to a WIL for sure and i doubt he can get alot bigger. might be best suited to an ILB in a 3-4 where he can read and react.

He led the league in INTs this year.  He's actually really great.

Congratulations on the reading comprehension.  Looks like you saw "Wentz" and just blocked out everything else.

I merely answered your silly hyperbole with sarcasm.

Just looking at the roster this morning, checking out who is probably gone and how the roster is put together.  Assuming guys like Alshon, DJack, Malik Jackson,Vinny,  DIck Rod, Ertz and potentially Jason Kelce if he retires, Darius Slay if traded are no longer on the roster...Carson would be the 3rd oldest player on the roster behind BG and Cox.  That changes of course if Carson is actually traded and any vets they might bring in.

Nothing else to this besides it just being interesting.  Also didn't realize TY McGill is 28.  I thought he was younger.  Adding a young boneafide DT in the draft is an understated need.            Cox is 30, Hargrave is 28, McGill is 28, Treyvon Hester is 28, Hassan Ridgeway is 26 and Raiquan Williams is 23.  Safe to say that McGill, Hester and Ridgeway are who they are and JAGs, although not bad for 4th DTs.  Not sure what Williams upside is, probably a 3rd DT at best.  Need to get a young guy or 2 ready to step in.

It's not silly hyperbole.  There are absolutely people in this blog that would sit by their computers, see the official report from Adam Schefter of "Wentz getting traded for a 3rd or a 4th" only, and they would get excited at the detriment of this team.  That's where we are.

My fear is that Howie will feel he has to trade Wentz now regardless of the compensation.

JJAW is right up there with the worst. Mailata is still unproven. I'm sticking with my boy Carson as the best his career is not over.

If Jordan is unproven then so is Carson.

He may have to , if Wentz doesn't want to be there. Would you want someone working for you who doesn't want to be there?

For the OL experts in the blog:

Is there any chance Sewell can move inside to LG his rookie year?  If Dillard starts and looks good at LT and Mailata becomes the swing tackle (or replace Lane when he inevitably break down), this would be the only reason I would want to draft Sewell at 6 (if both the receivers are gone).

Perhaps the Eagles should figure out what is wrong with their culture...

This hurts my brain. The only(some how) strong point of this team is O-line. You have 2 Left Tackles on the roster and we want to use a top 10 pick to bring in a 3rd.

Wow you're an idiot.  It's like you only choose certain words to read and you scramble them together to create your own thought.

I don't want to draft Sewell.  But there's a chance he's the most talented guy left at 6, which was why my question was if he can slide to LG to start.  Do me a favor and don't answer that last part, because I'm confident you have no clue at all.
