I'd like to know what the blog thinks of Mac Jones - not at # 6 but just in general.

I know he had a lot of talent to work with but I like him a lot - I realize his arm is questionable but I think it's good enough. I also think he throws with such accuracy and anticipation that what he lacks in arm won't matter. What I've seen in highlights - and yes I know they're highlights and the context that brings - but he isn't just throwing dump passes that Smith and Waddle are turning into big plays - he's throwing a lot downfield and always seems to hit receivers in stride.

Thoughts?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I’d also point out if wentz doesn’t throw a TD pass on a torn acl they likely lose that Rams game with how the offense looked the rest of the game. That was a huge play that season. They basically would’ve had to beat Dallas week 17 and with how the offense looked at that time it wasn’t a given. So if wentz doesn’t do that the eagles likely tie with the Saints and vikings. I believe they would’ve lost the tiebreaker and had to play on the wild card round then win two playoff games in New Orleans and Minnesota. Which i think they could’ve but it would’ve been a much tougher road. Add on they wouldn’t have gotten the two weeks to figure things out with foles.

It's absurd to believe we wouldn't have beaten Dallas Week 17 if we had to.  We would have beaten them easily if we needed to.  No matter what we were going to be the #1 seed w/HFA.

Not a fan of Jones as an NFL starter. Doesn't have the arm strength or athleticism. His ceiling is a top backup. Smart, hard work, okay accuracy could help him reach that.

The way I look at it is the Eagles have the leverage. Wentz has value, and some teams know it. They want to buy low when they can right now after a very bad year that the ENTIRE team fell a part in ALL areas.

If Wentz stays here under his contract and plays well under a new system that is build to his strengths we know he will be back to one of the better QBs in the league. Now that value goes up and maybe out the door and us keeping him for good and moving on from Hurts instead next season. So if I'm Howie, Im sticking to my guns. If they don;t want to pony up the price, then no QB for them. They can stick with Foles in Chicago and a crappy FA in Indy. If these teams didnt think Wentz could be successful in the right system they wouldn't have even made the call.

What do you like about Fields nd Wilson?  How do you know they would be a better solution for the long term than Wentz?  What do you like about Trask?  Who would you compare him to?  I certainly hope it's not just because we have his old coach as our QB coach.  Because he is a guy on the rise and most likely won't be around for long.  Not to mention, smart teams don't draft players based on their relationships with a QB coach.  Just as smart teams don't hire a QB coach just because of the relationship he might have with a 2nd year unproven running QB.

So.  Since you are so hell bent on shipping Wentz off for whatever.  I'd like to know what you see in those other guys?

I swear Wilson has the most punchable face ... ever

Happy to take him in the 2nd to backup or compete w/Hurts.  He won't be there though so its a moot point.

they damn near almost lost to the raiders who were far worse scoring 13 points on offense the Monday before. So pretending they just would’ve waltzed a victory against a hated rival that could destroy your hopes and dreams of HFA isn’t as guaranteed as you think.

1st and at least a 3rd to me.

Maybe, but which first? The 20th or 21st overall (Chicago and Indy) isn't that valuable. If the Bears were willing to give up two firsts for Khalil Mack and the Colts a first for Buckner, they have to top those offers, IMHO.

This is a serious stretch.  There aren't any "Superstars" on this roster.  Even the old ones.  Good players, yes.  Lane Johnson could be considered great, along with Fletcher Cox.  But we have no superstars.   That last "Superstar" prospect this team had was in 2017.......and he had one bad year and people want to push him off the ledge cliff.

Agree to disagree.  The only reason that Raiders game was somewhat close was because of terrible weather.  And it still was a game we controlled from start to finish.  The only reason Dallas won in Week 17 was because we did a total tank job, just like Reid did the last 2 games of 2004.

I agree.  I kept trying to look for reasons why he might not be a good NFL prospect, or whether the success was due to all of the talent around him, etc.  His poise, accuracy and decision making seemed excellent to me.  He is not as talented physically as other guys, but seems to have all of the intangibles that are most important.  I think he may be overlooked and underrated, but could be taken in the 2nd round and become a quality NFL starter.  I don't rate him lower than the other guys in the draft, outside of Spiccoli of course.

Here we go.

Doylestown's own  and CB West alum Mike Pettine hired by the Bears as a Senior Defenive Assistant...must mean Carson trade to Bears is imminent.

I’ll disagree if it was strictly the weather as the biggest reason i don’t think the eagles would’ve played foles early in that game to get him on track. I think they were legitimately they worried about him and the offense. And that didn’t help matters heading into the postseason. Weather for sure played a role but i think they were also worried and trying to get him into a better rhythm entering the postseason. Dallas game didn’t help

Add on with the raiders game the eagles trailed the raiders 10-7 in the third quarter and didn’t have the game locked up until 22 seconds left when Elliott made a field goal to make it 13-10. That game was in the balance the entire 4th quarter tied at 10. I wouldn’t consider that in control. (If i remember correctly i think carr misfired on a play where the eagles would’ve been burned again if not for that throw)

i disagree it is a given Dallas knowing the eagles needed that win to get Hfa doesn’t play better. Heck I’ve seen the eagles lose to joe freaking Webb when it was a huge game for hfa purposes.

Correct.  Our agenda is wanting what's best for the Philadelphia Eagles long term.  Which is finding a stud QB, something Wentz most certainly is not.

The Washer agenda OTOH is to deflect any blame from Carson for his poor play in order to shield him from accountability for his lack of leadership, lack of preparation, and general lack of development into the franchise QB he was supposed to be.

Yes the best course of action is to get rid of Wentz, take a huge ish on the cap, and then try to find another QB like Wentz.  Got it

For 2 x 2nd rounders, I'd keep Carson.  While Carson had 1 bad season out of 5, the Eagles have the sunk cost of dead money now to deal with and even though his contract has all sorts of funnies in it, making the Colts wait could be the way out of it if Carson wants to go there.

And oh my!  Me either, strikes back!

Nah take the 2 x 2nd rounders and truly kick start the much needed rebuild.

Lots of quality control coaches

Who is the WR coach? It's not listed

I thought they'd confirmed Moorehead was back? Maybe they still haven't filled that role.

Need Howie gone for it to be a real rebuild

Moorehead. Same as last year.

I wouldn't, as in today's money it's a 2 and 3.  No ta.  It's mutually assured destruction on the cap, but the Colts need to pony up more.  The fact they may see Carson as a 2 year rental is irrelevant to the Eagles.
