I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Anybody aware of any Mock Draft Simulators that you can do with friends? And remotely, as we aren't in the same room...

Pouncey brothers retired.

Pittsburgh without Ben would have to acquire a QB given their roster. Wentz makes a lot of sense, as no Pouncey/Ben puts the Steelers in ok cap shape.

I can almost guarantee a return to prominence if Wentz goes there. That would just add another chapter to my life of dealing with a-hole steeler fans.

a-hole steeler fans seems redundant.

Common sense is a dying skill.

Who would have thought that the movie Idiocracy and a show like The Simpsons would be so true to actual life.

Got any you like?

i am eyeballing the TE and RB population here

Not yet.  I have been studying later round players.  May be some gems.  I think TE and RB may be drafted as not a deep draft at the position.  Maybe some S/LB hybrids and seems like there are a number of undersized DEs that really haven’t shown they have the skill set for 3-4 OLBs.  Some somewhat flawed CBs, S, WRs are a possibility as are some somewhat flawed IOLs and maybe a DT or two.  Not a deep DT draft but a bunch of not quite good enough DTs or undersized DTs that really don’t seem to fit into 3-4 DE territory. Problem this year is identifying smaller school players.  Saw some play earlier in the year so I have to refresh my memory.

Yup.

That post explains so much about Kempski.

Wentz is an excellent fit for Western PA and the Steelers fan base.  They've got receiving weapons.  I can't speak to the state of their OL.  That team has a way of getting the most out of troubled players.

After spending 7 years in Pittsburgh, which I think is a fantastic city, I actually came to respect their sports culture and fans.

You know how websites publish those draft "do overs" 1, 3, and 5 years after drafts?  Google it, you'll find several.  When was the last one of those that someone the Eagles picked actually went in the first round?

I think Wentz would flourish there.  The way that they know how to draft and develop WR, commit to the running game, most of the time have a great O-Line and a top defense he would just be great in Pittsburgh.

Agree with you on being a great city.  Fans in Pittsburgh are different than their fans everywhere else though.  I can't stand Central PA Steelers fans.  Some of the most obnoxious people around.  I do love the city though.  The history, the architecture and everything else is really great.

Correct.

Which is also why I don't it is a lock that Jacksonville takes him at 1.

Could be.  They say they want him but maybe Meyer is BS'ing.

Yeah.....what kind of person watches that crap.......more importantly.....what kind of person would admit to watching that crap?

I make it known on here how much I hate social media and how I think social media is one of the top causes of division and dumbing down of our country but right up there with social media is reality TV.  One of the worst inventions ever.

The fire is media driven. Hence the media urging them to stoke flames

After spending almost 59 years near there I can say I respect the organization but not most of their fans.  Although I have to admit I'm starting to respect a lot less of our fans lately.

Oh and they're the luckiest team on earth

Wow

Watt likely goes to GB, Pitt or Chicago I'd guess.

They could have traded him before last season started and gotten a 3rd round pick.

99.9% chance he signs in Pittsburgh.

How can you bash me for being a fan of the only QB to win a Super Bowl for the Eagles?

Geez, Whatever Howie is, he's not whatever they have in Houston.

Media guys think they drive trades. OK.

In this day and age, everyone has the same information, video is ubiquitous, even the CIA can't keep secrets for long, what it often comes down to in trades is a game of chicken.

Everyone knows what Wentz did in 2017 and 2020, they can see some loss of athleticism, but the arm strength is still there, the big body is there, question is whether you can fix him, and that's an unknown for both the Eagles and any buyer. What teams don't know is how driven Wentz is to succeed, he has money, a family and Christ, he simply may not have the competitive drive of a Brady, or last year might just have been one of those seasons. Some QBs play at a high level until 40, others burn out by 30. Some live for the game, to others it's just a well paying job. He could be Brees, coming back from a serious shoulder injury for a decade of excellence, or McNabb, who was never the same after his serious injury in 2005.

People who talk about Lurie having to save face, etc., simply don't follow the NFL. Teams have to work on overlapping three year cycles, that is, most contracts are effectively 3 year deals with options years for the team (pay the out years, eat the dead money, or renegotiate) - once you get to 2nd and 3rd contracts, the only difference between your own player and free agents is you have more information about your own player.

So trading up for Wentz was a success, the centerpiece of a rebuild that got them to the playoffs 3 times and won a SB - ask any GM if he'd make that deal if that was the outcome!

It also means it's sunk costs, and whatever they get for Wentz, if they don't see him in their plans for the next 3-5 year cycle, is a plus.
