I don't think it's much of a secret that teams and agents blatantly tamper. It's proving it which is the hard part.

Honestly, who cares anyway?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

His agent can call around now that he is released, he can sign with a team right away. I think its indy.

Plus he an agent. Not paid by NFL. What can they do to him?

I’m guessing he goes to Tennessee Titans.

How? He isn’t a part of the NFL he’s an agent? He can talk to whoever he wants

He’s an extension of the player. Technically he can’t talk to other teams about his player while under contract, and vice versa.

Howie feels no urgency, bonus isn't due until March 19, and looking at the QB options on the market, he's got the best asset.

Darnold, Winston, Newton, Dalton, Brissett, Trubisky, Fitzpatrick, Taylor, basically everyone out there is a backup, some aren't even good backups.

Watson has a NTC, and who else are you going to trade for?

I don't know for a fact but I'm pretty sure they could strip him of his license. I can't remember the names but there was a brother/brother agency that ended up banned from the league. Dogra was also banned and fined, but I don't think it was revealed why.

It’s gotta happen more than we know. All the player has to do is play dumb if caught and teams won’t say nothing so proof is almost impossible to get unless some moron tweets it  or slips up during and interview.

No way. The NFL can’t have that kind of power. Right?

It's the NFLPA, and yes.

But like I said, it's blatantly obvious it happens. As long as someone isn't dumb enough to do it writing or an email there's not much anyone can do to stop it. It's notorious for happening at the Combine. Reporters say they overhear it all the time at dinner.

He’s no longer an agent.

That makes more sense. Guess the league can't punish rules that were broken in the past

The player would never get punished. It would only be the teams and maybe the agent.

Strange when the player is the employer

Well, if you believe in markets, agents should be allowed to gather as much information as possible to get the best price for their client.

Preventing that is collusive activity designed to drive wages down.

That goes away when the team asks for a player to take a pay cut apparently(which is what Houston did)

How? He’s still under contract unless granted permission by the team.

Right? Sounds to me like this rule needs some tuning.

I wouldn't necessarily label it that way

Im not sure why anyone is surprised about JJ Watt. He made it known before the season he wanted out of Houston as soon as Hopkins was traded. He finally was granted his wish.

Why not? Players pay the agent

3 minutes ago, Bacarty2 said:

So the NFL team says we want to change the contract and is essentially in purgatory thus allowing the agent to do his research

My understanding, if a agent randomly starts calling teams cause he wants his player to be cut or traded, thats tampering

But when the team comes to the agent/player asking for a rework contract it opens the door

Nope. You’re understanding is incorrect.

Please explain it to me as Watts agent and other agents have admitted it's common practice.

He is going to other teams to fish for a better deal while Watt is currently under contract. Those teams engaging in said conversation is tampering.

On another note, was NOT impressed with Trevor Lawrence's pro day. I was not a big fan of him anyways but this showing did not help his case. A ton of miss throws, over throws, bad angles, and just wobbly throws etc. I get it, he is having surgery but its not his throwing arm.

1 minute ago, Bacarty2 said:

what?

It's obviously not tampering as it's common practice so try again

Nah, stealing is stealing regardless of getting caught.   It is tampering whether they are caught or not.  Thos is purely a guess but the only time a team gets caught is when an employee has an axe to grind and turns them in.  No agent would ever expose tampering as no team would ever work with that agent again.

Nothing, looks like he took a play out of a DE swim move to not allow the defender to get his hands on him.
