I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

He has the raw materials, he needs a QB coach who can work on his mechanics and help him see the pro game.

And a HC who runs a system that plays to his strengths.

If only the Eagles would hire such a combo.

What's this about?

Hurts' arm is fine.  I still don't understand where all this "weak arm" stuff is coming from.  He's made tons of "strong throws" in college.  Not every ball needs to be a rocket propelled grenade.  Just because he shows "touch"  (actually a good thing) on some of his throws does not mean he couldn't laser it if he wanted to.

Clayton Thorson throws harder than Patrick Mahomes.  Yeah.......that officially makes a football throw measured in MPH the most useless stat on earth.  That brings me to my next question.  Wasn't Thorson cut in training camp because he couldn't make any NFL throws?  I would think that arm strength would have at least gotten him through 1 training camp.  Dude must have been wildly inaccurate or he was as dumb as a box of rocks.

Thorson seemed to have issues anticipating routes; from what I recall, many of his throws would be released well after the receiver would make his break...essentially making the route useless; the DB would be there by the time most of his throws would get there.  That's just from memory...I could be wrong.

That coach was fired from Iowa for making multiple racist remarks that have been documented.  He was also accused of "bullying" when he was with Iowa.  Seems like a great dude!  Not a surprising hire at all for Urban Meyer, king of the scumbags.

Ah, ok.  I didn't know the history behind that.  Thank you.

Well, if some team offered more than (2) 2nds and a 3rd, we're in 1st and 3rd territory, so not that far behind.

That's probably Howie's expectation, 1st, 3rd and a sweetener, so asking for two 1st rd picks is a solid negotiating position.

His arm is fine.  He’s just a bad passer.

Now he’s with men instead of boys, most if not all make more money than him, the NFL should be a good fit.  Meyer is proving to be just like every college coach who thinks they invented football, gone in two years.

Based on what he did his senior year, I think you're wrong.  He's also made dozens of very good passes, accurate, some even deep passes, at the NFL level.  He still needs to get better at going through his progressions but that's normal for a rookie QB, imo.  I think he will surprise a lot of naysayers next season if he's given the opportunity to start.

I can't wait until week 2 when one of the players blows up at him on the sidelines for the 1st time.  Based on his history, he'll probably grab his heart in pain and retire for health problems, somehow collecting all of Khan's money.

Hurts has below average NFL arm strength and accuracy IMO.

His arm is not strong for an NFL qb and he’s not a natural thrower.  Just because a troll hates Wentz doesn’t make Hurts, John Elway for Christ sakes.  Oh but he mad a lot of throws in college.  Meh.  Yeah. Sure.

Completes 69.7% of his passes for 3851 yards, 32 TD's only 8 Int in 14 games his senior year. Yes, he made TONS of throws in college.

Thing is both Hurts and Wentz are projects, but so is anyone they pick at #6.

But while Hurts needs to work on his mechanics to tighten his motion and become more consistent throwing, that's probably true for 90% of college QBs taken in the 1st round. Same with learning to read NFL defenses, think Lawrence is any good at that?

And while Wentz is a proven NFL QB, you have to rework his mechanics back to 2017 and get him focused on playing QB the right way.

So it simply comes down to which risk you take, at what cost (or lost opportunity cost).

I wish this data went back to 2000 so someone can make the case Chad Pennington has a fine arm because he tops out at 50mph

What was surprising is how slow Watson threw the ball, was he hurt at the Combine?

Just now, 4for4EaglesNest said:

He definitely had a string arm.

Ok, watch the 2 passes from the 30 second mark...the one pass he ripped from inside the pocket with pinpoint accuracy; the 2nd pass he ripped it while running, off balance for a TD...

Tell me again how Hurts "can't throw".
