So much for the anti-Trump momentum.  Stefanik has already come out and endorsed him.

I'm at the point now where I welcome more of the Trump gop. They will get trounced in 2024. Trump at the top of the ticket in 2024 is a sure fire loser.

He's going to die at some point. Probably in the next 5 years or so. Have you seen him lately? He's carrying so much weight. He looks well over 300 pounds.

yeah I don't think a better chance for Democrat victory in 2024 is worth giving Trump another 45% chance to be POTUS.

Fingers crossed

His chances aren't even that good. His best shot was to get election deniers in control of the vote count in key states like AZ, PA, GA, and MI. That didn't happen.

He can't just go away; he must be prosecuted to prevent future, much more capable demagogues from succeeding in similar treachery.

There's something remarkably sustaining about a black heart filled with hate and and a mind fixated on pure animosity. This guy will live to be 90+

They'll lose but it'll still be closer than it really should be. Honestly, it should've been a bigger blowout than it was in 2020. That election had no business even being as close as it was. Same goes for these mid-terms frankly. When you consider that one said basically said the quiet part out loud about nullifying election results if they lose, that should've absolutely terrified every red-blooded American that understands why democracy is sacred. But instead the GOP picked up seats in the House and might lose only one seat in the Senate. Gerrymandered districts or not, it should've been a bloodbath with GOP candidates losing in landslides but that didn't happen because the cult is still in it for the long haul, which is exactly why Trump will still be the candidate in 2024.

The baseline for any Dem or Republican nominee in a general is about 40% chance to win.  Biden is not the strongest candidate we've ever seen.  Anyways I think you are overestimating the strength of a Trump-less GOP ticket.  If he loses and is not overly compensated in some absurd way (like Jr. as VEEP), he is 1000% certain to take his ball and go home.

Yup. Even if the tumor (Trump) is removed, a cancer that has spread so widely will likely remain and continue to proliferate.

Yeah, DeSantis is still MAGA as much as anyone else that's hitched his wagon to Trump. All the BS he's pulled in Florida is enough for me to never consider voting for that piece of garbage either.

I would never consider voting for DeSantis either. However, if he were to leave peacefully when his term expires, and isn't a Russian stooge willing to cower on the world's stage caving to all of Putin's demands, he would be far better than Trump. I don't recall DeSantis saying anything on foreign policy one way or the other, so I have no idea how he'd be.

That works.  Dead, in jail, whatever.

I don't see any other solution for a DeSantis-Trump truce.  DeSantis with JR as VEEP and IMHO it would be a very strong ticket.  I don't think the great dealmaker is very good at making great deals so it prolly won't happen.

Don Jr. is not qualified to sit as VEEP. Tim Scott would be my choice. There are literally hundreds of better choices. If Donny goes head to head with DeSantis, I think DeSantis wins that battle. If I were him, I wouldn't be looking to make deals with Donny to give his idiot son a seat at the table. And IF that's the route they went, I'd have far more faith in Ivanka than Jr.

There will be no truce. Trump can't cede the spotlight to anyone. He will burn down the party to satisfy his ego.

The only out is indictment.

I think the party is at a true crossroads. I think DeSantis can beat him head to head. The issue is that that needs to be the whole field. Can't dilute the non-Trump primary vote with 6 other candidates.

If they do go head to head, give me the moneyline on Mike Pence.  He becomes a very strong 3rd rail dark horse.

Indictment or knockout.  Of course knockout comes with total carnage.

I agree. The problem is Trump will attack him relentlessly, then tell his acolytes to stay home in the general election.

Like I said -- Trump will make sure it is him or no one. He won't allow another Republican to succeed (get elected) where he failed. He'd rather the Democrats win again so he can say that people made the wrong choice by not supporting him.

Remember -- it is always about protecting his ego.
