Why, so he can lose another election?

My wife and I were watching the news, and her reaction was "Oh good, maybe the republicans will vote for a sane person instead of McCarthy". My response..."Um, they're republicans. They think McCarthy isn't crazy enough. They want MTG or Trump".

Jeffries will likely get all of the Democrat votes in the House. So Republicans have to make their vote known from the start. Jeffries can win Speaker if too many Republicans skip the vote. I still think McCarthy has the majority of GOP on his side. So he is the odds-on favorite to win, at least as a compromise candidate. The ultra-MAGAs will make sure it won't be on the first ballot.

Biggs is the rumor. He's nutty enough. But I don't think he gets any more than a few dozen votes.

I wonder what they're talking about?

Not in 100 years has a Speaker not been chosen after the first vote. Total embarrassment. If McCarthy was smart he would work with moderate/conservative Dems to get over the hump.

F that.  Republicans created their lunatic fringe, they can live with the results.

Second House Speaker vote: Jim Jordan nominates McCarthy, but the 19 MAGAts unify their vote for Jim Jordan.
Jeffries 212; McCarthy 203, Jordan 19... All are short of the 218 majority.

Going to a third vote.

Speaker Trump. Just do it already.

Apparently republican doners are complaining that this is making the party "look stupid"

The Lunatic fringe will make McCarthy give all the power away to them if they vote for him.

So they can continue to make the Republican Party look stupid and incompetent for the next two years?  Oh no.

Yeah, maybe they will still be voting for the next 2 years. LOL.

What is most ridiculous is the 19 MAGAs think they hold all the power to sway the other 203 GOP reps from McCarthy.  🤡

No business can be done until there's a speaker. At this point it looks like the MAGAs will hold forever. Typically with the way the House wheels and deals, this means the 19 will lose appointments and power within the House. But they are the same reps who are criminal and ought to be removed from office anyway, so that point is moot.

Funny, but I thought there were far more Maga Cult Members than 19. Tyranny of the minority.

Me too. It seems like the rest went for McCarthy. There seems to be 19 holdouts.

McCarthy is going to lose the third vote.

The most powerful woman in the GOP.

He lost a vote in the 3rd ballot 🤣

Total tools

House adjourned. Maybe Trump will tweet now asking to be nominated tomorrow.
