I like Hogan a lot. But he has no chance and correctly calculates he's much more likely to give Trump an easy path than to even be competitive for the nomination.

It's true. Hogan is admitting the GOP electorate is crazy sauce. He's way too mainstream to gain any traction in a field of candidates who are a basket of deplorables.

So who is the sane Republican going into 2024 GOP primary?

Sane Republican has become an oxymoron. You're practically dating yourself by even stringing those two words together. It's like saying you're looking for a white NFL cornerback. A relic of a bygone era.

Chris Sununu, governor of NH. And he has zero shot.

Normy Republicans are pretty much DOA.

The best hope for a sane republican to win is to have Trump and DeSantis splitting the crazy vote while someone else is over there looking cogent. And even then it's a longshot.

Only guy I can think of who might be able to accomplish that is Brian Kemp. Maybe Youngkin.

Kemp has name recognition, guided Georgia through the pandemic in a manner similar to DeSantis, and has managed to avoid Trump-stink while not directly pissing off Trump supporters. The crazy Trumpers may not like him because he didn't find the votes the Donald needed, but at the end of the day Republican voters tend to come home - even the frothing at the mouth morons.

Is it just me or did Wallis Simpson look like Gary Oldman's Dracula in her later years?

No.

Gary Oldman's Dracula looked like Wallis Simpson.

Both were bloodsucking aristocrats though.

IMHO, the guy in the best position to ride that 3rd rail is Mike Pence.  He's my longshot horse for POTUS 2024 because the Christian right has always been the most effective wing of the GOP and it doesn't take too much imagination to see how they could break for him in a mudfest.  I have always said that he was one of the best VEEP picks ever and he absolutely pushed Trump over the top in 2016 (while Hilldog wiped out on her disastrous pick).

Dude's 50-1 right now but nobody is better positioned to take advantage of a Trump-DeSantis mutual destruction.

I think Pence is too radioactive with the Trump base, and frankly evangelicals overlap the Trump base considerably. A sizable plurality of evangelicals thought Trump was the culture warrior they needed and Pence betrayed him.

I just don't see any lane at all for Pence.

Do you really want a weakling like Pence?

Kari Lake Campaign Says She Wouldn't Be Trump's VP For The Most Absurd Reason

Her reason? She can't legally be VP while also being governor, despite her losing the governor race.

This point is not discussed nearly enough. She tried to pick the most non threatening weenie she possibly could because she was so threatened by a running mate who might be more liked than her. Had she picked Bernie, I think she wins that election but her ego and the fact that she's all up in her emotions all the time would never allow it.

Preferable to Trump. While I disagree with his policies, our republic would survive a Pence presidency. It won't survive another term of Trump. I also see DeSantis as a flat out authoritarian communist. So far his track record says that he will use the power of the presidency to cripple free enterprise that in any way opposes him. I don't know that we survive that either.

yeah, but trump and desantis will own the libs. that's all the gop wants anymore. its disheartening as a republican to see the same campaign slogans over and over with zero plans on how the get the country right beyond burying to woke mentality.

Hyperbole aside, I agree that Pence is far more preferable than the other two dipsheets. Through I still find it hilarious that Pence had to ask Dan Quayle if it was okay for him to certify the election for Biden.

It's like she gets more attention and traction from being a loser than actually serving in any capacity... How would she have time for NewsMax, right-wing podcasts, and speaking engagements if she actually had a job to do as governor? So she is destined to be a loser for all eternity. Crazy to see what she does next.

Kari Lake would be the perfect VP for Trump imho

MTG makes more sense and she's saying all the right (retarded) things.  Lake's a loser too.  The only thing Kari Lake has over her is she's hot while Marge looks like a catcher's mitt.

I just meant because Lake is used to losing an election and then claiming she won.  Seems like a match made in heaven.

In other words, yes, I'm totally Trump's VEEP!

It would be a weird move because I don't know what she'd offer his campaign that Trump doesn't already have.  Pence gave him some sort of Evangelical seriousness to contrast Trump's freak show. But Lake is just the same exact freak show.

With that said, he'll likely make the dumbest weirdest move, and bring her on board as VP.

Want?  hell no.  I just see a path for him.  Old school Republicans + Evangelicals who would prefer a guy with actual evangelical chops could be enough for a ~35% third rail candidacy.  Especailly in a primary where blue states count for a lot of votes.  Then you put anybody not Trump v.s. Biden and badda bing, a dark horse worth the lottery ticket.

Lake > MTG.

Why?  Lake just looks and sounds better under the name Trump and you nuts of you don't think that is crucial to Donald.  Taylor Greene?  MTG?  Takes too much attention off the TRUMP!

Meh, when the time comes she'll simply resign

Total unquestioning loyalty. Will follow orders without hesitation, without question, without regard for the law or constitution. It will be the litmus test for everyone in his next administration. Which is why we wouldn't survive.
