Gaetz, Boebert & Co. toss more toys from their cribs

Quote

In a stunt supposedly aimed at demonstrating their anger that Speaker Kevin McCarthy broke his word to them in cutting the debt-limit deal, a dozen House Republicans just killed (for now) four . . . Republican bills.

Yep: It’s cutting off your nose to spite your face.

And an utter inside-baseball move: Technically, they joined every House Democrat in voting against the "rule” needed to bring the bills to the floor for debate and eventual vote.

None of the 12 pretends to actually oppose the bills, two of which aim to rein in federal bureaucrats and two to protect gas stoves specifically.

It’s a protest against "the imperial speakership,” says ringleader Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

Fine: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would surely prevent any vote on the bills in his chamber, anyway, so this is a symbolic gesture over symbolic legislation.

But all Gaetz & Co. (which of course includes Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert) have really shown is that they can join with Democrats to block perfectly fine Republican measures.

this is where your tax dollars are going. a pissing match between millionaires who actually don't give two flying F's about their constituents.

MAGA turning on Marge Threes Toes is sweet sweet irony.

Social Conservatism on the rise in the U.S. according to gallup poll. Also not surprising that there are a far higher percentage of self described moderates among democrats than those among republicans.

80% of Republicans pretending to be economically conservative while overwhelmingly supporting a Presidential candidate who's only policy proposals are just straight up Communism is particularly on-brand.

Yes, because many moderate Republicans became Dems. Moderate Dems are a majority of the party. That's how Biden won the primary over Bernie. Moderates. But Republicans view all Dems and liberals and use it as a term of derision.

Trump has differentiated himself from DeSantis and others in the race by pledging to protect SS and Medicare and keep them as is. It's oddly a winning issue for him among republican voters.

You can trust him to act in his own self interest. The only benefit for reforming those programs would be fiscal responsibility and the long term financial outlook of the country. Trump couldn't possibly care less about those things.

What's an "intimate meal"?

Is that like a Portuguese Breakfast?

The GOP has issues with national security, that involve them not understanding or giving a crap.

"GOP voters will start to turn on Trump when he's indicted, clearing the way for DeSantis to win the nomination!"

twas a quaint notion...

Just another day of the GOP trying to manufacture outrage using lies and stupidity, the two things their supporters seem to love more than anything.

I still don't get why this man couldn't be President. The main attack against him was he made too much money. We are not a serious country.

Romney's problem wasn't that he made too much money, it was that he didn't give the Republican base enough red meat so their support was tepid.  The Republican Party isn't a serious party.
