August 2, 20232 yr Hmm, looks like more consequences for GOP traitors who don't like our system of voting for elected officials.

Ya I just can't bring myself to vote for anyone who's more willing to sell themselves out to a bunch of mentally ill mouth breathers rather than stand up for what's right. Anyone putting party over country can get kindly get F'ed. I know expecting a politician to have principles is a fool's errand, but expecting them to at least be somewhat tethered to reality should be the bare minimum.

That's why I find it hard to see myself voting republican for decades if ever. Even if an Anti-Trump republican got in, at least half (probably more) of said republican's administration would be full of Trump sycophants who would have happily overturned our entire democracy if it got them better access to Trump and furthered their own career.
August 2, 20232 yr Only viable GOP candidate IMO, who doesn’t have a chance in hell. https://www.willbhurd.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsbycmrW-gAMVAsrjBx0m5A7IEAAYASAAEgIqFfD_BwE

Well he's not hanging it up so you might as well root for death. Survival of our Democracy and Constitution > the life of an elderly rapist.

You have to grade on a curve at this point. He's not like that idiot Ramaswamy promising to pardon Trump. He's doing the least possible to actually try and still have a shot. It's all pointless, though. Trump will be the GOP nominee for President in every election for the rest of his life.
August 2, 20232 yr Well that makes sense. Jesse Watters says the platform of the Republican party is to reduce the ability of government from functioning.
August 2, 20232 yr "I think there should be special consideration for a former president." But it is not a two-tiered justice system. They must not ever hear their own words.
August 2, 20232 yr Author He's gotten "special consideration" his entire life, and he absolutely did in these charges. His actions gave the DoJ no choice. Garland would have been happy to just let him fade away as a citizen but he couldn't help himself and now he's facing justice. Any civilian doing what he did would already be locked up.

It's a non-starter for me. There is no better litmus test than one that clearly determines whether a candidate lives in reality or in fantasy.

You also gotta win, so asking a candidate to take a position that will guarantee a loss may be too much. Gotta look at the track record and handicap how committed you think they are to some positions. Every candidate who wins the white house takes a few positions at minimum that they don't actually believe. You can believe in reality and still acknowledge that while you need to put distance between yourself and the Republican demigod, you can't bury him or you're done.

They can tightrope walk it and game it out however they want, which is fine, but they'll just have to do it without my vote if they can't bring themselves to admit the criminal behavior of their predecessor. If instead they'd rather to continue to expunge honorable and qualified conservatives like Amash, Romney, Kinzinger, etc, then I wish them the very best of luck going forward.

I want there to be a conservative party. I'll vote for one of them in the primary in a futile effort to stop Trump. Of the "others" that could be viable (so not Hurd, Hutchinson or Christie), Scott is the least objectionable to me. Assuming it's Trump v. Biden 2.0, I'll either vote Libertarian or skip the President line on my ballot. If I lived in a swing state, I'd vote for Biden and then get stoned.

I think you can probably put Pence in the non-viable column. He may actually be more non-viable than anyone, considering he was the one that stopped Trump from tearing up the Constitution.
