Israel has already declared war on Hamas.  Maybe MTG should make a trip over there and break the bad news??

House GOP Chaos Continues as Jordan Loses Speaker Vote—Again

199 votes for Gym Jordan. He's going in the wrong direction. Now 22 Republicans voted against him.

For the second time in 24 hours, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has failed to win the speakership on the House floor, pushing the right-wing leader's ambitions to the brink and bringing lawmakers closer to empowering an interim speaker after two weeks of legislative paralysis.

On Wednesday, 22 Republicans went against Jordan, putting his support at 199 votes, well short of the 217 needed to claim the gavel.

Troublingly for Jordan, he won two fewer votes in the second round than he did in the first, when 20 GOP lawmakers cast votes for seven other candidates, none of whom were in the running.

:towel:

man, no wonder so many retards support the gop.

You can't shame someone like Jim Jordan.  It requires an inherent decency he and his compatriots lack.

Either he or a maga controllable proxy gets the speakership and he wins or he doesn't and he loses.   Everything else is BS.

Funny that the Dem Minority leader is only 5 votes away from Speaker and Jordan can't get as many votes. I'm sure the Freedom Caucus loves this. The Government is shutdown just what they wanted. The Chaos party rules.

If the Dems don’t make a deal with the number of moderate Reps they need to vote in a moderate GOP speaker, they are as much of the problem as the GOP.

You think the Dems can get everybody together to vote for a Republican?  You think this GOP speaker backed by dems would last a single month?  there is zero incentive, political or practical for dems to even consider getting this diarrhea splattered all over them.

Sucks that MAGA didn't get the pedo they were hoping for as Speaker.  He really would've given young pedo's everywhere someone to look up to.

I have been predicting for about 8 years now that we would have an election of Yosemite Sam v.s Jared from subway.  We continue to get closer.

We are all f'ed both sides have gone nuts

I don't know why you keep going back to this well.  There's plenty of political and practical incentive to making sure we don't have a speaker like Jordan that will pave for the way for Russia to steamroll Ukraine, shut down the gov't and do God knows what when it comes time to certify the '24 election.

And if the Dems and a few moderate Reps can find someone who they agree on, they can change the rules to prevent the Matt Gaetz's of the world from removing them a month from now.

No I don’t think they can because they care more about being in power than they do governing. The incentive is keeping the government open and doing the job they’re paid to do.

If republicans can't come together and vote for a republican leader, how in the world do you expect Democrats to elect a Republican leader.  And i don't know what suicidal republican congressman would make that deal with Democrats.  I'm sorry but this solution sounds reasonable but it isn't.  Let the Republicans light themselves on fire cuz its really all you can do.  They will probably eventually cave and extend mcHenry indefinitely and the world will magically not end.

'Put the Oval Office' wherever he is: Trump fans say they'd back him as president from prison

https://www.yahoo.com/news/put-oval-office-wherever-trump-210142773.html

Donald Trump's supporters are famously loyal. They followed his lead when he said the 2020 election was stolen from him. Some of them even stormed the Capitol to defend his honor and ended up in deep legal trouble. So far, many of them are sticking by him in the Republican presidential primary for 2024, as the rest of the field has been unable to knock him out of his polling lead.

And now, many of them are saying that they’d even be willing to have him be their president — from prison.

"If he’s convicted and he wins, put the Oval Office in whatever prison they have him in,” Dayna Duke, a Trump supporter from Arizona, said.

"It would be kind of fun to see actually. I know that sounds crazy,” Travis McMahon, a Trump rally attendee in Dubuque, Iowa, said.

"He can still run for president if he’s behind bars and he would still get the same amount of votes,” Republican Vicki Scott said. "Keep him tied up all next year, and we’re still going to vote for him. And I’ll tell you what, if it gets stolen again, it might be a third world war.”

The dems won't vote for anyone that's still an election denier, so that basically means there are no viable options left. Moderate Republican is like saying white NFL cornerback or West Virginia baby born to parents not related to each other. These things might've existed at one time, but they surely don't any longer.

I think that's true on both sides outside of Manchin. The Dems tossed Sienema and Joe Liberman types don't grow on trees anymore.

I don’t buy the excuse, "they are not doing the right thing, so we won’t either.” So yes, I do have an unreasonable expectation for people to do the job they are being paid to do.
