I don’t buy the excuse, "they are not doing the right thing, so we won’t either.” So yes, I do have an unreasonable expectation for people to do the job they are being paid to do.

The "right thing to do" is give America what it really wants and needs, a 3 party system.  Trump's lunatics and the trans swimming anti semite contrarions should go make their own parties.  Leave the grown up moderates to form a ruling party that makes alliances with them to get things done. politically and practically, that will also never happen.

Glad the Insurrectionist, isn't going to be Speaker.

I hope the plan to empower McHenry involves Dems participation. Although, McHenry is another radical extremist.

He is acceptable

Quote

"In short, Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, the Twelfth amendment, and the 1887 Electoral Count Act, as amended, all make clear Congress has a limited role when it comes to counting the electoral votes submitted by each state. Under the Constitution, the House must certify the electors submitted by the states, unless there are competing slates of electors, which is not the case today. At no other time in our history have we rejected a full slate of electors without an alternative also being legally presented.

"Beyond the fact that voting against certification of legally submitted electors would violate the oath I took to our Constitution; I also have serious concerns about the precedent these actions could set were they to succeed.

"I also worry about the long-term consequences these actions could have on the Electoral College, which the left has been seeking to eliminate for years. They know its elimination would empower the voters in corrupt and mismanaged blue states like California, Illinois, and New York to be decisive in electing our President. I have no doubt that activists on the left will use Congress’ votes against legally submitted electors as further evidence for why the Electoral College must be eliminated. As evidenced by the fact Republicans have won the popular vote only once in the last 32 years, few actions could do more to ensure Democrat Presidents than eliminating the Electoral College.

"While I am proud to have supported President Trump’s agenda and am honored to have worked with him as he accomplished so much, I cannot violate the oath I took. It is my duty to uphold my Constitutional responsibilities.”

That's a good start but I'm wondering where McHenry stands on Ukraine.

There are 19 Republicans in Districts that Biden won. Why don't they use their own power and make a bipartisan deal. They are primary proof and can keep the power to pass legislation that is needed.

If the don't go that route and keep McHenry, they will need dems to do it anyway.

I seriously doubt the Dems could deliver their caucus for McHenry.

Depends on if the deal is sweet enough.

It's suicide for every Republican AND democrat that even tries it.

I'd call this a clown show, but that's an insult to clowns

At some point, they really do run the risk of 5 Republicans voting with Jeffries if they can't get their ish together

He's not wrong.

Sarah Hukabee Sanders is corrupt.

It's time for those 22 to start talking to Dems about a resolution. Gaetz and Jordan control the party? Please. Look out for more threats.

GOP Representative Jim Banks said it best: "We don’t deserve the majority.”

Wow.  Total clusterF.

The GOP Clown Show – Outside the Beltway

Interesting -- Jefferies slamming Jordan, calling for moderate Republicans to work with Democrats to find a way forward. I'm guessing that means electing him as speaker, which no Republican will ever do. But if he could bring votes for a moderate Republican and get huge concessions (some committee chairs, power to bring legislation, etc.)...

Really the only type of solution present at the moment.

Fox News claims Hakeem Jeffries lost 17 times. LOL.

Here comes Strike 3 for Gym Jordan.
