February 1, 20214 yr I’m looking but I don’t see any polls regarding Trump and a 3rd term. Maybe someone can link to one.

It still isn't a great look that only 45% "strongly opposed" a 3rd Trump term. I have no doubt that he could have hacked into that 45% by lathering up the base for 4 more years had he won.
February 1, 20214 yr That same YouGov poll says 30% if Repubs we’re open to changing the rules to allow for a 3rd term. It also says only only 32% of Repubs thought Trump was serious with his 3rd term comments. Just one poll but doesn’t support the assertion that "Repubs want to do away with elections” or the assertion that a Repubs supported a 3rd and 4th term.

They aren't going to come right out and say they stand for doing away with elections, and it isn't one poll. Its a definite pattern of quotes, polls, attitudes, and behaviors.

So far all I could find was a poll showing that 32% of Republicans believed Trump was being serious when he suggested a 3rd term. This poll that showed 31% of Republicans thought Trump's first term should be extended 2 years (after Falwwell suggested it should be due to lost time from a stolen 2 years of "collusion delusion.") There were 9% of Democrats who agree with it, too (what were they thinking?). Then again, in 2016 a poll showed that 67% of Democrats wanted a 3rd term for Obama. Of course that was in response to facing Trump vs Clinton.
February 1, 20214 yr Republicans wanted term limits for President after Roosevelt won in 32, 36, 40, and 44.

Or that they want to remove term limits completely to allow Trump to be POTUS for life, Or publicly execute the opposition. I just have a hard time believing a majority of Republicans support murdering Joe Biden, Pelosi, etc. or would want to end term limits completely for Presidents.

Democrats are moving to censure Green for saying Pelosi should be publicly executed. If most house republicans vote not to censure her, which I’m betting they will, then it’s clear that they are in support of calling for the execution of democratic leaders.

Let's see what happens. I got no love for the GOP. As for voters, I know a lot of Republicans, as do many here. I don't know a single Republican who supports ending Presidential term limits, murdering Democrats, or supported the insurrection on the Capitol. I know a couple who were questioning the claims of fraud about the election and said they wanted to go through due process, then backed off.

My family is all republicans (other than me my wife and my dad). While they wouldn't say "I support a president for life", they were definitely in favor of at least a 3rd term of Trump, and probably more. Once he got "too old" they wanted Don Jr or Ivanka. Some members of my family were at the capitol but at least claim they didn't go in. So that's good. They think the storming of the capitol was completely justified because the government is illegitimate and the country "needs to be taken back from the socialists". These are good kind hearted people with advanced degrees and good jobs. They've become radicalized.

I know a few like this who are the exact opposite of the trailer trash stereotype we see a lot of on TV. And they are of higher intelligence, which makes it weirder.
