It's "tactics" based on reality. I work in advertising - a soda brand telling you that it uses real sugar while its competitors use corn syrup is a "tactic".   In this case, you have a GOP base rallying around (and storming the Capitol for) a conspiracy-loving president, and now we have random Q-anon politicians, chasing around school shooting survivors.

Yeah, I kinda think it's the Dems job to put that reality into their messaging.

Unity = ignoring conspiracy-loving freaks invading a political party, less than a full month after those same freaks stormed the Capitol

That adds up to a logical thought in your brain? Alrighty...

Can we stop acting like it's only the dems that are disgusted by the lack of GOP response to Qanon chicks?

Exclusive: Dozens of former Bush officials leave Republican Party, calling it 'Trump cult'

Quote

"I totally understand why people are frustrated and want to leave the party. I’ve had that feeling for 4 years,” DeFrancis said.

But she said it’s critical the party unite around Republican principles such as limited government, personal responsibility, free enterprise and a strong national defense.

Purcell said many felt they have no choice, however. He referred to Marjorie Taylor Greene, a freshman Republican congresswoman from Georgia who promotes the QAnon conspiracy theory, which falsely claims that top Democrats belong to a secret governing cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles. Another newly elected Representative, Lauren Boebert from Colorado, has also made supportive statements about QAnon.

"We have QAnon members of Congress. It’s appalling,” Purcell said.

I'm sure you've never broad-brushed the entire Democrat party with the sins of AOC & the squad

Brought to you by the same brilliant mind that authored these masterpieces:

"They weren't even being violent"

&

"Trump's not the hero of the GOP"

If I'm paranoid, then I guess they are too.

At least you grasp its marketing

Debating which soda is better to distract that both are terrible for you and will make you fat and diabetic, and likely die sooner.

lets ignore everyone should be drinking water instead...

All messaging is marketing, from American democracies to medieval town criers.

Anyway...one post, you're dodging towards "unity", next post you're ducking towards soda consumption. You wanna get back to discussing how it's wrong of us to acknowledge the conspiracy-promoting politicians behind our conspiracy-fueled insurrection attempt?

no, i dont think i will engage your stupid strawmen, thanks

i said Greene should get the boot. not sure what else there is to say there. The GOP needs new leadership, but i'm not sure I see a good option yet. they have time to slow play all this. they already know they arent going to win the whitehouse for the next 8 to 12. they need to focus on the House for 2022 and Greene certainly hurts that plan. Senate doesnt appear to set up well in 2022 for them.

but they have easy targets in Pelosi, etc. its not hard to rally voters against the left. Depending on what Biden/Harris pass in the next 18 mo, it may make is easier...or harder...to make gains

It’s put up or shut up time for them. Democrats are moving to censure Green for saying Pelosi should be publicly executed. If most house republicans vote not to censure her, which I’m betting they will, then it’s clear that they are in support of calling for the execution of democratic leaders.

So this is a good start no?  McConnell denouncing it and calling it looney lies and conspiracy theories.

Does Mitch count as a "mainstream" voice in the Republican party?

I still agree it should be denounced by all of them, troubling that she was elected and all and the GOP has a lot of work to do but this is a good step no?

At least some in the GOP denounced the insurrection, and McConnel (quoted above) called Qanon looney lies and conspiracy theories.

You would hope that more (or all) would denounce it as well and that's a problem.  But it seems not everyone is "comfortable" with it.

That's pretty pessimistic.  I think they deserve to left out in the cold for a while, but I seriously doubt they're shut out that long.  Opinions change quickly in politics.

I think McConnell is doing the right thing for the most part. However, his vote that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional is disturbing. I think he's trying to steer the party back toward normalcy but I think he's in the minority and is being tuned out by most of the party at this point.

C'mon dude I'm not an AOC fan but let's not pretend it's in the same ballpark here.  It's like comparing the most foaming-at-the-mouth liberal on here to EagleVA.

It's a snow day and I lit a little fire. A few heated up as a result. Good work by me.

Now as to the matter at hand. MTG is a raving madwoman. Nobody is arguing that. Nor did I compare the two as equally loony. You did that in your head and concluded with a justification for keeping AOC around, just like I said. Others say they don't have to dump her because she's not that bad. Whatever.

All I'm saying is that it doesn't matter either way because she holds 2 of the three cards needed for the freaking lefty untouchable three of a kind. If it turns out she's also LGBTQ... and has a disability, it's the full quadrafecta of untouchability. She would glow with the leftist aura of preference.

AOC is by her own words, ideas, and proposed policies, an anti American socialist. Her biggest opponent isn't some politician, it's the free market. She wants government control of private businesses beyond reasonable safety regulations. The dormant commerce clause suggests that Congress is responsible for promoting interstate and foreign commerce through reasonable regulation. She apparently thinks otherwise.

I favor a clean environment, but I'm not scared of CO2, and if all fossil fuels are done away with, electricity will be 100K /kwhr. There's no viable energy source to replace it right now. Germany proved wind fails to produce enough energy, and we know solar fails too, so it's gonna have to be nuclear if you want all those electric cars to stay charged. They don't like nuclear power either though. Clean water and clean air in perpetuity is very important, but a plan that can actually work to get us there is necessary too.

Like I said. It's going to have to be nuclear, but the left seems to not like that option either due to nuclear waste.

People like AOC want a cradle to the grave nanny state. I'm against that, and I think it would be terrible for the country for the reasons people here mention ad nauseum. That said it's a far cry from the actual anti-American beliefs and deeds perpetuated by the republican party, the ex president and his supporters. The party tried to overturn a free and fair election, then when that didn't work a large segment of the party turned to violence to achieve their political ends. Quite literally the definition of anti American. People like Trump, Paul, Cruz, Jordan, and MTG are far more fascist than a ding bat like AOC is "socialist".

Looks like a 60/40 split now.

Yes, morons are not strictly relegated to the republican party. You just have more of them.

Anyone who wins the presidency likely won some portion of the other party. But, ya know, generally the president is the champion of their particular party. That's usually how that works.

The lack of self-awarness is the dangerous part. They think they're the patriots.
