I don't understand the US border policy, you have both a legal and illegal process for immigrants, but the only difference being that the legal way is hard and complicated with the chance of being rejected, but the illegal way you will certainly be accepted. Why would anyone go the legal route if this is the case?

Why don't you just have open borders and let them freely come in and save them the humiliation of dealing with smugglers and taking other risks? You will probably see less kids coming without parents also.

What is going to happen to the kids in cages? Are they going to be adopted? Put into orphanages?

Your knowledge of American immigration law seems to come from Fox News and Twitter. That’s not how any of it works. Under the law refugees can seek asylum. They are detained while the await a hearing. A judge hears their case and decides whether to grant asylum or not. Trump thought torturing children would dissuade people from seeking asylum. Now that we’ve stopped doing that, more people are trying to get asylum. Simple as that.

Fox news? What did I say gave you that impression? I can't get fox news where I live even if I wanted to, nor do I own a twitter account.

I know nothing of your immigration other than the BBC article i sent and the follow up video, which talks about how the Mexican cartels are exploiting the relaxed borders. Look at it yourself, I'm just making conjectures based on little info.

I understand what you said regarding asylum, but (if the video is correct) why would someone be smuggled into the US if there is a legal and viable asylum process put in place?

I am also curious as to what actually happens when the kids get asylum, what is next for them? Do you invite their parents over?

Relaxed borders? Not sure how that's possible when I was assured we needed to spend $40B on a wall that would be a FORCE MULTIPLIER and work really well to keep all the brown people out. Are you implying we were lied to?

People packed in like sardines in tiny cages. Very disturbing. This is not who we are.

No idea, I don't follow your politics as closely as you do. I only mention relaxed borders as the BBC video i sent you and its following video mentions Biden's less stringent borders being exploited by mass immigration.

I don't know who's policies are more just, personally neither seem to be the right answer. One sounds far too harsh and the other is at the other side of the spectrum.

Not saying Europe is any better btw, in cases it is prolly far worse, but this is the US, number 1, we are talking about.

Some people do to the legal way others try to enter illegally. This is not anything new. Not sure what your point is, I’m 45 and this has been happening as long as I’ve been alive.

If the Snot Nosed Leftist  Elitists care about illegals, they should go to the border and adopt a family or children. Then, without taxpayer dollars, they can feed, clothe, house them, pay their medical bills, educate them and be responsible when they break laws.

Mr. Gannon, for your information, I have always worked  and paid taxes. After retiring from the Army after 21 yrs of protecting your Ass along with everyone else, I worked in Automotive Manufacturing and Juvenile Detention. I hardly call myself a freeloader.

Sure, but in your 45 years it would be nice if our nations advance and see some improvement, right? Do we not critique ourselves and maintain status quo?

It’s a complicated issue. If it were easy to solve someone would have done it by now. This is why Trumps ridiculously oversimplified solution of a wall was so stupid.

It's not that complicated and it's not that hard to solve. It doesn't get fixed because politicians want illegal immigration.

Or because you know, they don't want to commit war crimes as you've so often suggested.

Shouldn't all these immigrants be seeking asylum in Mexico?  (At least the ones from south of there)

Are you asking if they are required to by law?

I thought that was the law.  I could be mistaken.  Legit asking.

It was never the law before, but Trump made it so they had to, I'm guessing by executive order. Biden pretty much undid all of Trump's executive orders on pretty much everything.

Neat.

If the pro-life GOP were serious, they would go to the border and adopt these people.

Christian charity.

I was certain the liberals would gladly adopt them all

Why are you looking for liberals to do your work for you?

Are you liberal?

They probably don't read KKZ's right wing clickbait which usually has little to no basis in reality. Here's what was said in the statement

We are creating joint processing centers so that children can be placed in HHS care immediately after Border Patrol encounters them.  We are also identifying and equipping additional facilities for HHS to shelter unaccompanied children until they are placed with family or sponsors.  These are short-term solutions to address the surge of unaccompanied children.

Longer term, we are working with Mexico and international organizations to expand our new virtual platform so that unaccompanied children can access it without having to take the dangerous journey to our border.  As mentioned, we are expanding the Central American Minors program to permit more children to be processed in their home countries and if eligible, brought to the United States in a safe and orderly way.

We are developing additional legal and safe pathways for children and others to reach the United States.  While we are building a formal refugee program throughout the region, we are working with Mexico, the Northern Triangle countries, and international organizations to establish processing centers in those countries so that individuals can be screened through them and brought to the United States if they qualify for relief under our humanitarian laws and other authorities.

For years, the asylum system has been badly in need of reengineering.  In addition to improving the process by which unaccompanied children are placed with family or sponsors, we will be issuing a new regulation shortly and taking other measures to implement the long-needed systemic reforms.  We will shorten from years to months the time it takes to adjudicate an asylum claim while ensuring procedural safeguards and enhancing access to counsel.

President Biden laid out a vision of a "multi-pronged approach toward managing migration throughout North and Central America that reflects the Nation’s highest values.” To that end, we are working with the Departments of Health and Human Services, Justice, and State in an all-of-government effort to not only address the current situation at our southwest border, but to institute longer-term solutions to irregular migration from countries in our hemisphere that are suffering worsening conditions.  This is powerfully exemplified by the President’s goal to invest $4 billion in the Northern Triangle countries to address the root causes of migration.
