He all but stated that the idiot feds who came in escalated things with their tactics, and that they didn't even let the LAPD know they were coming. That said they still mobilized units within 38 minutes into an area where the feds had been launching tear gas at protestors to save them.He said the LAPD wasn't anywhere near ready to escalate to the national guard. That decision was made by the president. Since the feds have showed up things have only escalated. So yeah now they're good to have, but they didn't coordinate with local law enforcement and law enforcement felt they had things managed.Said they do not coordinate with ICE and have not for 46 years. They respect ICE's mission, but their mission is to protect the peace and serve the community - including immigrant communities.He thanked those protesting peacefully but also stated that violence would not be tolerated and would be met firmly. He certainly highlighted some acts of violence being committed against his officers (which of course is the only portion of this long presser that Fox airs), and I commend at least his rhetoric here for reaffirming that they are there to maintain peace and keep the community safe.Go ahead and listen for yourself.
