The reported deal on the table is Democrats conceding on border policy for Ukraine money. Seems win-win to me. Until the ink dries all we have is conjecture on the details. I want to see it happen to see what's in it.

See....Republicans just needed to name the border "Ukraine" for the Dems to want to defend it. It all worked out.

As if there's something wrong with wanting to stop fascism from marching across Europe.  That used to be something we all agreed on.

A lot of times you just have to pass a bill to see what's in it.

Bingo. Trumplicans are playing up the politics of the moment. Which goes back to my original point, which is politics always gets in the way from a border deal occurring. Going back decades now.

Ok - so explain.  This should be easy for you.

Why is there another deal on the table?  I was told Biden fixed the border on day one.  DAY ONE!!

Sure, Abbott is blocking federal agents because he is most concerned with securing the border, and not with politics.

Tell me another fairy tale.

And you think the federal agents that want to cut the barrier down are concerned with securing the border?

Republicans don't want a border deal... because it's just political theater.

Mitt Romney is telling on Trump: The border is political football. Punt, so he can campaign against Biden and take up the issue later.

Securing free flow across the border is their concern.

I'm sorry the Supreme Court is on my side, and what the governor is doing is not legal. I'm sorry that you feel that the US border partrol taking people here illegally, into their custody is wrong, but I disagree.

It really is hilarious to see just how flummoxed this whole scenario has left sheetlibs. They honestly don't even have any idea what to say on the subject because the TV is mostly avoiding it. So they quibble about pointless things like "Abbott's just trying to score political points!" OK? He's the one trying to secure his state's border so hordes of illegals don't stream over by the thousands on a daily basis. What's Biden trying to do by having the feds open the flood gates?

Republicans are using this to score political points because it's an egregious own goal by Biden and the dems. They're literally fighting a state so that more illegal migrants come here for taxpayer funded handouts. By stopping it, Republicans score the easiest political points in the history of politics because that's what the entirety of their voter base wants. Hell, that's what the vast majority of the country wants.

Toaster supports the abolishment of Roe Vs Wade because he is a very serious Supreme Court respecter.

  It's 30 miles of razor wire.  The border between Texas and Mexico is over 1,200 miles.

Republicans stopping a bill that would provide more federal money for border agents and security would go a lot further than Abbot's little razor wire.  Which is why Republicans are making so much hay about this right now, because they need a distraction from the fact that they're the one's blowing up talks and blocking a more comprehensive security deal.

Let me ask again, do either of you know what the Supreme Court actually ruled, and the procedural backdrop of the ruling.

Not a complicated question.  Why do the two of you refuse to answer?  I'll tell you why - you don't know and are too lazy to look it up.

B-but only the OTHER side plays politics!!

Haha, pivoting back to the bill that would just allocate a ton of funds into processing migrants faster. Nope, still not going to cut it. The dems are either going to have to come up with a serious proposal or they're going to have to let Republicans continue to dunk on them over and over again on this issue.

The state of Texas installed razor wire along the international border with Mexico. Border Patrol insisted it was hindering their work so they cut and removed some of it. Texas Gov. Abbott said the border agents broke state law. So the state filed a lawsuit against the Feds. District court rejected the state's request. Texas appealed to the Fifth Circuit, who ruled border control can remove the wire only in medical emergencies. Biden administration appealed this decision to SCOTUS, who vacated the Fifth Circuit Court injunction. https://www.supremecourt.gov/orders/courtorders/012224zr_fd9g.pdf Ultimately, protecting the international border is a Federal government responsibility.

No way you were a lawyer.

Ignoring the fact that the bill would've certainly included a sheetload of federal money for border agents and security measures is very on brand for MAGA.  I get why MAGA politicians don't want the border to improve because they want to keep you losers ginned up, but the really wild part is that you guys don't seem to want any real progress on the border either.  You'd rather be mad about it than have a solution.  It's wild.  And also indicative of why you losers get such overwhelmingly sheety political representatives, because you'd much rather hear your leaders reee about problems than have them actually do anything about them.

Blah blah blah snot bubbles blah blah. No one cares, van. Biden can still solve the border crisis without a multi-billion dollar package to import new 3rd worlders faster. It's not up to republicans to help him.
