It seems like he's not afraid to mix it up with TEs and OLs, but when they do get their hands on him he does have trouble shedding the blocks.  As Tom says in his video evaluation of him that he wants to see him use his hands more to throw off blockers or at least get around them.  If he can learn to do that consistently then he could really turn into a good pick.  Another question is should he put a little more weight?  A NFL LB at 228 is on the light side.  Can he get up to 236-238 range without losing speed or burst?  Maybe they see him more as a passing down LB who can cover RBs/TEs and they're fine with him at 228?  But you are right in that if he does learn how to play the run well then he's a 3 down LB.  As Baldy likes to say, he has to get those violent hands going.

He definitely has a frame for at least 235.

The hardest thing for pro scouts and personnel guys to determine is whether or not these kids have hit their developmental peak, or if they can up coach them and make them into productive players.  They all have different rate of development.  This kid Taylor, never played football until college, so he's pretty raw with great athletic talent.

Sure many of them start off on special teams, but they get still get positional coaching, class and game film breakdown and opportunities for reps in practice.  Guys who show improvement are given more opportunities.

This guy has played about 3 total years of organized football and he's a tweener.

This is Chris Gocong all over again, only smaller.

Taylor is showing signs of becoming a pretty good player. He still has a lot of growing to do, but the experience he gains the rest of this season should help him get there quickly. Now if we could just get a DC that can do something with the guys we have ...

Agreed I think he's a nice piece long term. He may end up being a back up or rotation guy if they draft LBs (in a world where Howie gets fired) but he's a good young player.

He was drafted for his ability to run and that definitely flashes on the field. Taking on blockers and working through that I'd say is the biggest area for his improvement.

These are big things he needs to improve on and it could take time. I also think he has speed for days, but he has a slow reaction time which pretty much negates all of his speed. I think this guy should reach out to Seth Joyner and get an idea of the film work he used to put in to prepare himself to play. If this guy cut his reaction time down with his speed he could be special, but until that point he won’t be.
