March 28, 20241 yr Speaking of golf, this is probably the funniest part of Katt's whole interview. I was dying.
March 28, 20241 yr Golf is more of a sport than cycling or running a marathon, in my opinion, even though cycling and running involve much more physical exertion. There’s no "game” being played with a ball or other object, it’s just a race. Same with swimming, much more physical activity, but it’s just a race. Is diving a sport? No, it’s a competition to see who can fall in the water the best with the smallest splash… good for you, Greg Louganis.

Let's say around 72 swings. I'm always hiking or biking or walking so it's not bad at all for me but there is a reason you get hungry doing it.The vitamin D wears you out a bit as well. Just write down a score. After all, if everyone cheats, it doesn't really matter what you actually hit.
March 28, 20241 yr God, I hate golf. I hate playing it, I hate watching it, I hate everything about it.

March 28, 20241 yr One of the comedians (carlin maybe?) did a bit about it years ago but you know it's a pretentious "sport" when people randomly start pantomiming a swinging motion mid-conversation. No sane person does that for baseball or hockey or even tennis. Only golfers do that corny ish.

It would take me 3 or 4 hrs to walk to the nearest mall from my house and I'd probably be hungry by the time I got there, but I'm not sure I'd call walking to the mall a sport because of that. Funny. Pro golfers walk about six miles a round and then have to take a club and swing it athletically in such a way as to get a ball to land close to a hole. Most golfers aren't athletic and that's why they aren't flexible enough to rotate or have the coordination to create lag. People don't have a clue when they say it's just swinging a club. There is also the long drive people including DeChambeau who won a major. Yeah, they don't look like athletes at all.

Jordan being the biggest.

March 28, 20241 yr 3 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said: hey, now you're getting it Mahomes, Jordan, Brady, Maddux, Curry, Favre, Gretzky, Manning, Rice, and Phelps are all into golf for a reason. It's a less demanding sport than the ones they play/played but it takes athleticism which is the definition of a sport. You can play golf if you aren't athletic but you can't do well if you aren't.
March 28, 20241 yr the amount of effort going into trying to prove that golf isn't anything more than a game of skill is a nice diversion from the sheetshow that is DC.

I wouldn't call half the Sandy Lyle types making it rain on a basketball court athletes the same way I wouldn't the out of shape people hacking it on a course. Even amazing athletes like Dwyane Wade aren't coordinated/athletic enough to just "swing" a driver.

Agreed, it does take a lot skill and coordination to swing a club, make clean contact with the ball, and make it fly straight. Still doesn't make it a sport though.

March 28, 20241 yr I'm mostly just talking ish, I'm sure one day when I'm older and retired I'll get more into golf, but for now, it just doesn't interest me at all. Putt putt with the kids is entertaining enough until then.
