Maybe you should quarantine for the flu season every year then.

There's at least a vaccine every year.

Never had one myself. They never seem to hit the right strain anyway.

Well we can debate how effective vaccines are, herd immunity, etc. It really doesn't matter. Unfortunately the only thing that will tell us what the right move was in terms of coronavirus at this point is time. That sucks but it is what it is.

It's reassuring to see that your opinion on real life events are just as sheety as your opinions on football.

I’m glad you’re reassured. But hey let’s keep not allowing people to work because of a big bad virus but flooding the streets by the thousands is glorious... For the record I’m all for the protests.

This is OK but gyms are too dangerous

People are back at work for the most part

You seem like you need to go to the gym

Not the guy who manages a gym. Or servers/bartenders. The MD governor just bumped us another 2 weeks at least.

I'm sorry man I agree with you we have to have some balance. I'm not looking for an argument. A lot is going on out there right now.

It’s been frustrating for almost 3 months now. That’s a whole quarter of a year with no income for several businesses. And then you got all these protests going on (which I’m cool with the peaceful ones) where thousands of people are gathering. While these protests are being complimented the same exact politicians and people are saying "stay home”, "you have to wear a mask”, "you can’t open up America”, and so on. It’s pretty infuriating.

Some are practicing social distancing. I've seen some silent protestors spaced out on the grass and pavements. When you get into the hundreds and thousands I think it becomes not possible so then you have to just be careful while out there.

We'll just have to see in 2 weeks if we just created a huge spike nationally

exactly

So here in Stockholm we built a special field hospital in a site that is usually used as the big conference site for the city.  100s of beds and makeshift cube style rooms were built.  It was never used for one single COVID patient.  A decision was taken today to dismantle it.

Keep in mind that we never went full lockdown here.  Schools remained open as did stores/restaurants albeit with the requirement to establish "social distancing".  Groups of >50 are still prohibited.

Must have been a quieter night with riots last night since CNN is rolling with a red banner that starts with:

START THE DAY HERE
US records nearly 20,000 new Covid-19 cases in a day....

Yes, while factually accurate that actually represents a continuing down trend since we only went below 20,000 new cases once since March 28th.  In fact, we are experiencing our first multi day dip in total cases.

You want to see Americans really lose their minds?? Tell them they all have to go back to "stay at home " and everything going back to being closed because the virus spiked because of the protesting.

Completely anecdotal, but where I'm at (KSQ and Brigantine) I've noticed most people being really good about masks and fairly good about social distancing.  I hope these habits continue so that we can open up safely, live fairly normal lives until we get to a vaccine (or at least a treatment that saves lives of those who catch it).

Woohoo Yellow phase tomorrow. We're making progress at least towards normalcy.

Not even an hour later, I take this back.  I just got back from a quick run to Giant.  When walking to the entrance I saw a woman with two young kids.  Mom with a mask, kids without.  The employee stops her

Giant Employee: Excuse me, everyone who enters has to wear a mask.

Mother: Says who?

Giant Employee: The CDC (hands her a flyer)

Mother: Not for children under 12!!!

This isn't the airport lady.

Yeah, I'm with you. I want to be safe, but things need to open up a bit. So much of this unrest is related to COVID-19. Not all of it of course, there's plenty of "other" reasons, but it's absolutely a significant contributing factor.
