Then they should get vaxxed and have a less than 1% chance of getting  hospitalized

1.  There are also people who legitimately can't vax or who are high risk even while vaxxed.  These people can avoid restaurants and bars but they can't avoid doctors offices, elevators or sometimes airports.

2.  Just because you won't die or go to hospital doesn't mean I'd like to get it next week.  Might be my child's recital or a big business meeting I don't want to miss. It's 10 days quarantine that sucks.

Don't fart in the elevator arsehole.

Uhm, yes.  yes you do!  They require Vax ID's and they are 100% optional.

FFS you'd think this was calculus.

Talking to you is a waste of my time, goodbye.

Seems like the vaccine is pretty ineffective at preventing one from getting the omicron variant, but seems very effective at keeping you out of the hospital and dying. My aunt tested positive for covid last week.  She's extremely vulnerable, overweight, COPD, had pneumonia a few months ago and was so bad she needed an oxygen tank and a walker. She was vaxxed but not boosted. So far covid has been like the flu or a really bad cold for her. The 2 shots she did get probably saved her life.

Boosted gives about 70% protection against symptomatic disease.

Not boosted, but double vaxed is about 30%.

It's really not that complicated. I'll wear a mask if I enter a business that requires it, since I don't have a Constitutional right to enter a Starbucks. I'm vaccinated and boosted, so I'm basically just living my life. The only qualifier is I'm about to see my father-in-law who is immunocompromised, so I'll be careful before heading to his house. That's a personal situation which requires extra caution.

We need to stop with mask mandates and shutdowns. Stop making rules designed to protect idiots from the consequences of their own stupidity. Stop covering medical care for the unvaccinated, and let them do whatever they please. It's time to get back to normal life.

There comes a time when everyone has to grow up and realize that the chances of catching the virus from someone who is asymptomatic because you briefly stood near them on an elevator are pretty remote. I know coronavirus is scary, but you're going to eventually have to face those fears and continue with your life without worrying about someone not wearing a piece of cloth over their nose properly.

If you can't, stay inside. It's really that simple.

OK. Hell just froze offer. DeBlasio making sense.

This. Guidance says that the unvaccinated need to take more precaution, wearing masks in public, etc. But this isn't reality. When you encounter somebody in public wearing one, chances are they are likely vaccinated already. People who are following guidelines are taking it seriously, have likely taken several measures to limit spread. Those who are not following guidance, are not taking this seriously, are the ones prolonging the pandemic.

Yep though to be fair Omicron isn’t a reality due to those things

And how exactly am I supposed to know if you are asymptomatic when you walk into an elevator?  How do YOU know if i am planning to visit an immunocompromised person in the next couple days?  I took a weekend trip last week. Went to a club saturday.  I'm living my life fine and dandy, however I will be taking care of myself this week leading up to Xmas when I will be surrounded by old and sick family members.

Stay inside?  your own argument falls under the weight of feathers brother.  I have behaved rather badly but have to use the same elevator as my elderly neighbors who are trying to take care lof themselves.  So, I don't Fing fart in the elevator.

You guys  keep going in circles, but every time you cross home the result is the same:  You are all just a bunch of selfish, impolite arseholes.

You went clubbing and on a weekend trip? Oh, so you're just a giant hypocrite. Got it.

Thats ok viruses do not spread when masking is optional and vax ID needed, it only spreads in elevators.

I just comply with whatever the mandates are in a said area, and will also comply with suggestions if they make sense to me.

We have no mask mandate in NJ for shopping, but I keep one in my pocket. Went to a mom and pop shop the other day and there was a sign asking all patrons to please wear a mask. So I put it on. No big deal. The people that want to protest these things have serious issues.

Someone explain this, IF I am vaxxed and in a club it is ok to not wear a mask and be around you but if I am on an elevator for less than a minute and you are on an elevator and vaxxed that is putting you in danger, what?

Way less than 1% died from the earlier strains, that Omicron is significantly less deadly than even that is fantastic.

Gestation can be 2-14 days, so your club hopping may have already ruined this week for your old and sick family members.

Yes, Kz, I am out there doing MORE fun things than you.  I am triple vaxxed and do not fear Covid.  I take precuations to not spread among the unvaxxed or immunocompromised. I behave better if I know something important I can't miss is coming up.  There is no hypocrisy, just a few perfectly manageable adjustments to regular life.  You're the one with your panties in a bunch looking for excuses to inconvenience your neighbors.

Exactly.  All this queefing about the non-vaxxed needs to end.  They've made their decision, they can live with the consequences.  If they wind up dead because of it, it's not my problem.  At this point it's obvious that even if the world was 100% vaccinated this would still be spreading.  They can live their life how they want to.  I know people who were vaccinated and got it.  Not vaccinated and got it.  So far all had mild symptoms or none.  I've been lucky in that regard.

If you're vaccinated and boosted why do you give a F if some randos aren't protecting their odds of survival by getting vaccinated?  That's called natural selection.  I'm for that.

I don't wear a mask anymore unless it's required.  I get looks in the city from (probably) fully vaccinated people that don't really need to be wearing a mask, but a year ago when I was masked up I was getting looks in the country from the unvaccinated that should have been wearing masks.  People are idiots on both sides but at least the overly cautious aren't hurting anybody.

It's your own logic, only used correctly.  In places where everyone is Vaxxed and attendance is optional, no masks.  If you are in a common space that is not optional (an elevator) and Vax status is unknown, then mask up.

for the love of God how is this hard?

I really hope the admin starts doing what is rumored and not focusing on cases anymore and just serious illness.

True.  It's usually a week.  My family members are all vaxxed.  I am triple vaxxed.  My decision is to behave for a week and watch for symptoms.

You tell me? If i am vaxxed and you are vaxxed how am I putting you at risk in an elevator but not a club? what the hell does optional have to do with it? the unvaxxed are unvaxxed by choice so that is their problem, they are the arseholes not me
