Since MORONS, IDIOTS and PEOPLE WHO CARE ONLY FOR THEMSELVES refuse to self-isolate, refuse to properly wear masks and follow the most simple procedures to reduce infection, the USA basically isn't having the post first wave dip. 22 states have COVID numbers rising, some alarmingly so. I feel bad for the innocents they infect. Can’t have a second wave if you never contain the first one

That is a horrible thing.
June 17, 20205 yr Author LINK Quote (Reuters) - The Trump administration aims to narrow its financial support to about seven experimental coronavirus vaccines from the 14 it has been working with so far, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said on Tuesday. U.S. government officials also said that they expect many Americans to get an approved vaccine to prevent COVID-19 at no charge once it begins distribution, potentially in January. "For any American who is vulnerable, who cannot afford the vaccines, and desires the vaccine, we will provide it for free,” a U.S. government official said during a call with reporters, requesting anonymity. The official also said that based on conversations with commercial health insurers, it expects a vaccine to be covered with no out-of-pocket costs, similar to coverage policies insurers have put in place for COVID-19 related medical services. "We will be working with insurers,” the official said. The Trump Administration last month launched "Operation Warp Speed” - a joint HHS and Department of Defense program - to accelerate development of coronavirus vaccines, treatments and diagnostics. The effort has "maximized the possibility” of having a vaccine before year end, the government official said. The Trump Administration previously announced it has put more than $2 billion behind three vaccines in development, one being tested by AstraZeneca Plc (AZN.L) along with the University of Oxford, a Moderna Inc (MRNA.O) candidate and one from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N). It has also given more than $30 million each to Merck & Co (MRK.N) and Sanofi SA (SASY.PA) for their separate vaccine efforts. A government official said it was still deliberating which companies would ultimately be among those it will support, based on the success of closely watched trials and manufacturing capability. The New York Times reported earlier this month that the White House had selected five companies: Moderna, AstraZeneca, Pfizer Inc (PFE.N), J&J and Merck. June 17, 20205 yr Like we've said since mid-March watch the death count not the confirmed cases count. Do a little smoothing based on culture, population density, age/health of population, etc. and then bring you analysis.
June 17, 20205 yr Gyms are creepy if anyone has gone to one since things started reopening. No masks once you get into the weight room but 14 feet distance since people are breathing heavily. Only allowed 2 people at a time to the weights and must reserve a spot ahead of time so it's just you and one other guy awkwardly wandering around this empty gym. All equipment must be put off to the side after use so they can sterilize it between shifts. No padded or cloth equipment cause I guess it would be harder to clean effectively. All makes sense but it's definitely kinda surreal.
June 17, 20205 yr Coronavirus: Dexamethasone proves first life-saving drug https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53061281 Quote A cheap and widely available drug can help save the lives of patients seriously ill with coronavirus. The low-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK experts say. The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus. It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.

They decided it was a good time to upgrade all their basketball and racquetball courts to energy efficient(LED) lighting. Which im thankful for. Lol. Anyways, they havent done much to reconfigure the weight rooms. And i dont think they will be going to the extremes mentioned. But they are going to be making it an appointment based membership. You cant just pop in and get a work out anymore. To me this is the smartest way to minimize congestion. since quarantine they have been shut down but they still have been letting the less fortunate use the facility to shower and stuff. And they have been a source for sanitizing supplies as well as diapers and baby supplies to the less fortunate. They gave crews cleaning the facility nonstop even though its basically closed. They are really doing their part imo the ymca is the best thing going for people into fitness at all ages and the price is fair. i recommend it

Part of the reason why I kept paying membership even when it was shut down was them using the volunteers and funds to help people out during all this. I imagine a lot of the restrictions I mentioned will be general to all YMCAs but maybe they're handling it state by state.
June 18, 20205 yr I am in North Wilmington, DE. My wife goes to the Y on Rt. 202 and she said its not really like that. No reservations, no one is 14 ft apart, and most people are masked up. I go to the Planet Finesses in New Castle, DE (I go to 3 different ones). Masks are required to be on your person. Dont have to have it on your face while lifting or cardio work. But it should be worn when walking around. Only 4 benches are set up in the dumbell area, but more than 4 people can be in there lifting. Some of the cables are closed and every other cardio machine is closed. Not too bad so far because the crowds are so small. I really missed lifting during the quarantine. Weighted bands and my wifes dumbells were not enough! LOL

June 18, 20205 yr Found out tonight that one of the cashiers at our other store has tested positive for COVID. She started calling out of work end of last week. And we have about 5-6 people who go back/forth between the stores (I am not one of them). For those of you in the medical/health professions with some degree of knowledge on SOP by health departments during this pandemic, what, if anything, would you expect to be done in this situation? I would think testing of ALL employees at that store plus the ones who go between stores should be a start. And there's also sales reps and delivery drivers who have been to both stores in the past few weeks. Probably some customers as well. See how this is problematic and why it's still spreading alive and well in the US?

How did that work last time genius? There isn't much point to stopping air travel from China. Right now people in Texas, Florida and Arizona are more of a problem flying. Something tells me you would wring the sweat out of your panties before you institute a travel ban from those places, right? So, since clearly, stopping the virus is not something important to you, please tell me what is the purpose of banning travel only to people from China?
