MEH!!! Unless you wear your patriotism on your sleeve you are a America hating commie.

I'm not a big fan of Omar politically. But the hate she gets for being critical of the US is ridiculous.

She's critical because America has not lived up to the ideals that we claim we still cherish.

And I'm sorry but the "go back to Somalia" comments she's gotten are far more anti-America than anything she's ever said.

But rather than addressing criticism on its merits it's much easier to appeal to nativism and wrap yourself in unearned patriotism.

I agree.

Just as much of the US was improving, 10 states are seeing their highest seven-day average of new coronavirus cases per day since the pandemic started months ago, according to a CNN analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University.

The data includes new cases reported by Johns Hopkins through Tuesday. The states seeing record-high averages are Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina and Texas.

Liberal states, one an all, am I right?

So you want to again put in place a stupid ban "from some places"? How did that work last time genius?

There isn't much point to stopping air travel from China. Right now people in Texas, Florida and Arizona are more of a problem flying. Something tells me you would wring the sweat out of your panties before you institute a travel ban from those places, right?

So, since clearly, stopping the virus is not something important to you, please tell me what is the purpose of banning travel only to people from China?

That’s a nice fiction you made up in your tiny little brain, but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. Maybe if you didn’t get yourself banned from the old board you would know that I was the first person sounding the alarm on the WuFlu.

And, actually, the travel ban from China worked out very well. It delayed the spread of the virus compared to European nations.

Your idea of worked out well sucks monkey balls.

Actually, I was there the entire time, mostly just watching the crap show of callous a-holes. A show you star in daily.

So preventing the spread of the disease is a poor outcome in your mind... genius take, toaster.

Well, if you are stupid, like you are, then you would see it that way.

I personally think it really doesn't matter if you limit travel from China if you aren't going to limit it from Texas or Florida too.

You see, genius, it doesn't matter WHERE the sick people come from. What matters is if you:

TEST

CONTACT TRACE

QUARANATINE

So, as long as we are going to pretend that is only possible for the White House, Congress and Pro sports, then yes, I don't believe banning travel from ONE country is going to make any serious difference.

So, Mr. TEW, the genius, are you down for stopping ALL air travel from hot spots, including US ones? If not, STFU pretending you care about the spread of disease.

Travel ban would have helped IMO. Also I'm still curious on what other countries will do once this is all over

Florida became Mr. 3000, registering 3,207 new cases overnight

Yup.  Should have restricted travel across the board and been testing people who entered the country to ensure that anyone entering the country wasn’t a carrier.

It might have helped but the mounting evidence suggests the virus was in the US long before the ban.

 you fit right in for the most part

Now this kind of report is when it makes sense to look at the testing.  Was there an increase in testing that correlates to the increase?  Check that and then consider if it contributed to the upswing or not.

I'm not saying that is the reason but it certainly must be something that is accounted for.

And also a decent amount of genetic/virology evidence that the primary source of spread to the US, especially the east coast, was through Europe.

What's funny is that the same strain based evidence is used here to say it came from the US.

Yeah chicken and egg will be tough to fully flush out. It was definitely here much earlier than we initially thought, although parts of Europe did seem to see the big true outbreaks earlier which is at least suggestive.  But either way there appears to be pretty clear that the virus strains in Europe and America are much closer to each other than the Chinese strain.

So Raleigh and a bunch of other cities have made the requirement of facemasks which is good. Mine hasn't but since we're so close to Raleigh I expect it soon. The county hasn't yet but I also expect that soon

What confuses me is when you check out the FAQ and the part of who isn't required to wear a mask. Why would children under 12 not need a mask? I feel like anyone could use the loophole of religious beliefs. What religious would prevent masks though?

When is a face covering not required?

  • For people whose religious beliefs prevent them from wearing a face covering.
  • For those who cannot wear a face covering because of a medical or behavioral condition.
  • For children younger than 12 years old.
  • For restaurant patrons while they are dining.
  • In individual, private offices.
  • When complying with directions of law enforcement officers.
  • In settings where it is not practical or feasible to wear a face covering, including when obtaining or rendering goods or services, such as when receiving dental care or swimming.
  • While with members of a family or the same household

When I say they should have made a ban I mean we should have closed our boarders to everyone

Problem was we had Americans everywhere and were trying to get them home

Agreed. It's not an effective policy. It's pure political CYA.

Also I see no consequences. Is it a fine? What are other cities outside NC doing to enforce masks?

For sure, complete border shutdown would have been the way to go. Just discussing how much the lockdown on China vs Europe played in the spread. Not that anyone would have known at the time but in retrospect it seems as if all our shut downs were too late, but the primary spread that had already occured seemed to be between Europe and the US, which is interesting.

With the European ban we did make a clause initially that Americans abroad may return home at least. I had a friend who was over in Europe who panicked at the initial announcement if the ban but they later clarified it didn't apply to citizens returning.

Both the ICU and the Floor that was converted from Ortho to Covid positive patients only,  at my wife's hospital are both now at capacity.  There are 4 Hospitals in the system here.  1 full, 2 getting close to full and 1 at roughly 50%

The ER's are sending people home that are basically anything other than critical.  Its going to be an interesting next few days and weeks for sure.
