I kinda like Pete, but who knows if he has any staying power. Funny, I was talking up Pete in the primary, too, and the true Bernie Bros were all over me for supporting a "corporatist." Said the same thing last night talking with my wife, Dems need a solid candidate cuz Biden is one and done. If trump runs again he’ll win, unless of course pence runs and somehow manages to get the nomination. I actually don’t hate Pence, he’s just too "dry” and mundane, but maybe that’s what we need. Someone who just doesn’t spend every waking minute trying to divide us all. Biden isn’t much better in that way either. He cried unity but hasn’t done anything to help that become reality. I guess we’ll see. 8 minutes ago, Kz! said: Have you learned to do a pullup yet, fat and old? Get out of my face until you do. Go chew on redneck splooge and let the adults talk .

I guess we’ll see. I think 2024 is a long way away still, so things could still turn around for Biden, and the one scenario where I really see Biden being the favorite is if Trump runs again. Even though I supported Bernie in the last primary, I realized later that Biden was the right choice. No one else could've beaten Trump. That election was way too close for comfort.

However I don't believe anyone should be walking around on the streets or highways. What I'm partial to regarding the Canadian protest is that they appear have a lot of backing by the general public. They call in wreckers and they join in. One company paid for the fuel in a pumper truck to fill up fuel tanks. Most of the protest in the US are more like organized temper tantrums with no clear path to achieve a worth while goal. "We mad".
February 10, 20223 yr We done need trucker here protesting. That’ll only continue to hurt the economy and drive up inflation. We need them tough rednecks that arent afraid of anything except a little needle to STFU, stop crying about their Fachinas and go pick up their damn loads so the country has a viable supply chain. Wanna "be free” then get out of the truckers Union and start your own trucking llc and make your own employment rules.

I was a freshman for 2 years. I was playing rugby and pledging my first two terms and dropped a ton of classes. But I went to a five year school so somehow I managed to catch up, squeeze in a minor, and take 13, 13, and 12 credits my last 3 terms. My last term was all freshman classes and wine tasting

February 11, 20223 yr 11 hours ago, DBW said: There has been a dramatic increase in school fights in our middle and high schools in the district and I’ve seen other districts reporting the same thing. I do think that there is a definite correlation between mask wearing and mental health of kids. They’re fatigued and stressed by it all - just as we are with it - but they lack the coping skills so there’s more acting out and more behavior issues because of it. There’s more teen drug and alcohol use (presumably a way of coping), more suicides, etc. it’s not the mask itself that is causing this, it’s the stress of the last 2.5 years of a pandemic. Kids are being put in no win situations as well, a pawn in the games being played between governors and school boards on how it should all be handled. It’s quite sad and absolutely there are things going on that are direct result of Covid/mask/vaxx requirements and statuses. We’ve done a lot of damage that may be unfixable. And this is coming from a guy that was supportive of mask wearing for a long time, but knowing what we know now I have changed my opinion on that topic. Short story is it’s not worth the risk of long term mental and emotional damage along with developmental delays in some cases. And I’m hopeful that these mask mandates lifts will remain permanent and become choice for future outbreaks rather than back to mandates. The data isn't and probably never will be completely available on this topic due to the problems trying to isolate the varying parameters but what's always struck me as amateurish and/or problematic was the lack of willingness to look at the entire picture. I saw almost nothing in the US press or from US officials that looked at the entire cost/benefit analysis of school mask mandates. It was just the tired "get on with it", "kids can deal with it", "everything helps", "Trumpbot" type tripe and nothing of substance. This seemed particularly strange to me given the decisions made by other normally level headed countries and in particularly those in the Nordics with strong medical, educational, and humanist traditions. Maybe their analysis was lacking but at least they did one. There was always a tribal element on this topic in the US as well making it particularly difficult to steer with a clear vision. There are many experts out there (e.g. pediatric experts, child development experts, child psychology experts, etc.) who have been talking pretty much since day one about the costs that kids would face with the mask mandates as well as the virtual schooling. Their voices just weren't really given a platform in the US until the last couple of months. The more serious part of this is the with the little kids many of whom continue to be masked down to two years old. The science for those young kids is very well known and has been so long before COVID came around. They need to see faces as part of their normal psychological development. Does masking for those little kids deliver benefits that outweigh the costs? The honest answer is we don't fully know.
February 11, 20223 yr What's with the hate for Buffett? He's just an old school crooner with some fun songs for warm summer nights along the coast. Puts the ladies in a good mood. Nothing more nothing less.

It's been this long, what is another 2-3 months? I really think the logical thing is to wait until the seasonal trends favor it (i.e., the typical end of flu season, so April/May). Doing so too soon could cause another spike late in winter or early Spring, which just prolongs the pandemic in the long-term. This is the fundamental issue: The people who most desperately want to end mitigation also refuse to adhere to it for the necessary period of time to get us to a place where we can do it responsibly.

And yeah, not only do we share this country with morons, they're fat morons too. Ironically, the push to stop "shaming" people was out of a concern for their mental health despite the fact that it was counterproductive to their physical health. The damage to the former being far overstated while the damage to the latter being far understated. Stop me if this sounds all too familiar as of late.
