I wonder if this is due to more testing for younger people taking place.  I remember when testing was first happening, unless a younger person was exhibiting some of the more serious symptoms, it was difficult to get a test.  That, plus younger people being less careful about this than the older population.

With thos commie socialites in the DEM party, it'll be the firs thing Sleep Joe do in his first day in office. There was this movie in the 80s where these guys have a weekend at sone dead guy house. And they got this dead guy walking aroun doing whartever they want. They got him on the beach and at bars and they just using him like a puppet. It called Weeken At Bernie. And I just told my wife last night with these socialites, it gonna  be Weekend at Bidens. I though that was pretty original. Social doctors and those Venezuala death panels. It just the beginninng

That's why this is worse in the USA than other places. We're a fat, unhealthy country.

Read a month ago 80% of the patients in Netherlands were obese.

But McDonald's sounds better

Almost as crazy an idea as our elected officials allowing riots for a month straight and for the statues of our nations founders to be torn to the ground as if we were conquered by some invading force...

This may be a controversial statement, but if the increase in cases is primarily among the 20-30 year old crowd, then this could actually be a positive. If there is an immunity to getting it again, then people who generally speaking have the ability to recover from the virus getting it and helping move towards herd immunity is not a bad thing. Obviously, older people and people with co-morbidities need to stay very cautious, and these millennials and Gen Z folks need to not go visit their parents for a while. But this is somewhat expected given a transition away from full lockdown to more of a "protect the vulnerable" stance.

The data to watch is ICU bed capacity and making sure that isn't overwhelmed. Infecting a bunch of relatively healthy people in their 20s and 30s isn't overly concerning.

I see my grandfather every week, but when the lockdowns started I stopped. My uncle, who is an ER/ICU nurse, encouraged me to visit like I normally do, just to wear a mask at all times in the house. Which sucks, because he keeps the thermostat at 78 and keeps the back door to the lanai open so the cats can come in and out, and Florida is humid.

Florida passed 100k total cases today and over half the cases have no idea where they got it from. Makes you wonder how useful contact tracing is at this point.

Funny, I thought at first it was an intentional troll/parody account but the ying to shockers yang. I’m starting to doubt my original theory.

Wondering the same thing.  At this point if I activate that sheet on my phone I'd probably get multiple alerts saying, "You have come into close contact with......."  I don't see the point now.  It's out there and running rampant.  I'll just continue to be cautious, but I found out that I am really good at staying away from people anyway and quarantine through this whole thing.

Yea, I guess it helps when it’s someone you know and you have been in contact with them recently so you can at least self quarantine or get tested wether you have it or not. But I’m thinking it’s probably not going to help contain any hotspots.

Sadly, it is hard to reason with a person who thinks the disease is a hoax, due to the fact that they are morons.

Twenty-five U.S. states reported more new cases last week than the previous week, including 10 states that saw weekly new infections rise more than 50%, and 12 states that posted new records, according to the analysis of data from The COVID Tracking Project, a volunteer-run effort to track the outbreak.

Texas reported one of the largest rises in new cases at 24,000 for the week ended June 21, an increase of 84% from the previous week. The number of COVID-19 tests that came back positive in the state rose to 10%, from 7%.

New cases in Florida rose 87% last week to almost 22,000, with the state’s positive test rate nearly doubling to 11%.

Arizona reported 17,000 new cases, a 90% increase, with 20% of tests coming back positive, according to the analysis.

Kudos d-noses!

I haven't had a hair cut since February. I'm joking with co workers that when we come back to the office I'm going to look like Tom Hanks in Castaway.

Going back a few months I recall some of you saying that we would see these spikes in the heartland in June.  Some of you are very smart!  Looks like Houston TX could be the next hot spot.  It's not because we are doing more testing.  Look at the hospitalization rates.

Language but this is to funny not to share
