Allergies have been brutal this year.  Everyone is coughing and sneezing even when they aren't sick.

A year ago I started taking a daily allergy pill and it was practically life changing. I never had an issue with allergies until I was about 40, and it crept up on me, getting very slightly worse each year since.

yeah...allergies suck this time of year.

and i haven't worn a mask since my employer stopped requiring them.  tbs, i have to fly on frontier next month so i'm considering wearing a hazmat suit for that trip.

lmfao, not only have people in here stated they will continue to wear masks, but have you been to a grocery store or anywhere in public? Even in my solidly red county, you can't go anywhere without seeing a bunch of people wearing their masks. The pandemic and their political ideology have completely broken them. I'm guessing there's a pretty significant percentage of people that will never give them up.

Well guess what, In my solidly blue county and state, nobody is wearing masks in public.  So maybe it’s the magamorons that are TeH ScuRrEd and wearing their masks everywhere.  I mean you did just say you live in a red county and you see them everywhere.

I wore one in the orthodontist waiting room a few weeks ago when my kids were getting work done. Other than that I think the last time I wore one was in an NYC theater in the beginning of March.

Moderna reported positive trial results of a bi-valent vaccine candidate that targeted both beta and wild-type variants, which elicited a two-fold increase in nAbs against omicron. Could provide even better protection as we head into winter later this year.

Baby girl is sick.  Caught from her cousins and I got it from her.

This past weekend was especially mask heavy.

Yeah the pediatrician required one so I had to wear one yesterday for a visit. But otherwise I haven’t worn a mask since January when I was on a plane.  I hardly see anyone wearing them anymore in my area.

have they decided how long the vaccinations are good for yet?   sheet...a lot of the 2nd doses were given a f'n year ago.  are those people still considered "fully vaccinated"?

I mostly see some elderly people still wearing them when shopping. Other than that, they have been pretty much gone in this deep red state of NJ I live in.

They are holding that card to play later.  You were infected right?  Plus you have had, what, three jabs?

As far as I know, the definition for "fully vaccinated" is still the initial two doses, but I'm not really sure it even matters anymore now that mandates are gone almost everywhere. Maybe it's still relevant for international travel, but domestically, I'm not sure that the distinction carries much weight now.

As for length of protection (specifically against symptomatic disease), it's not exactly a step-function, just as it wasn't before, but I think moderna said roughly 4-6 months in their press release. So basically you could try to time it up with the typical flu season by getting it around October or so, which should provide some protection until early spring. They're also trialling a bi-valent candidate targeting wild-type and omicron specially, with results due in June.

Flying from LA to Philly on Saturday, so hopefully this doesn't get reinstated. Though with Philly having an indoor mask mandate, guess I will have to put one on when getting off the plane and walking through the airport?

Weaksauce...

I'd say it's about ~20% of people in LA, if that. Went to the Dodgers game Sunday and didn't see a single mask, but that is outdoors obviously.

If someone wants to wear a mask, I couldn't care less. Some people have legit reasons (immunocompromised), and others are just virtue signaling. So long as they don't force me to wear one, I really don't care anymore.

My family (not me) just did Rome-Stockholm and back.  Full masking in the airports and planes and full requirements for vaccination evidence.

My wife and I travel to Wash on Friday.  Same deal plus we both have to have negative tests 24hr before our 1st flight.  I'm hoping they relax the masking for this one since the destination is the US (no mask requirements) vs. Italy (still have mask requirements on all travel).

Need to get my brother in law to the airport on Saturday.  If you want to save some $$ and need a ride to DE, let me know.  I hope you like European death metal.

that a lot of mumbo jumbo, man.

so you think there will be a yearly round of vaccines before "peak season"?

that should've been a pre-covid consideration on frontier.

I've flown Frontier a few times, actually had a good overall experience.

Now southwest.... I've only flown southwest a few times.  Twice that I can remember but there may have been one more in there.  After one of the flights I came down with a strange rash.  On every flight I've seen multiple people use trash bags as overhead luggage.  Also, I'm pretty sure they train their FA's to be as corny as possible in an attempt at "humor".

Ha. Despite me saying I would take a car service, my father insists on picking me up.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll be extra defensive on the road.
