I'm not gonna be that one guy who has to be a rebel. Where are you going? I was in the Cayman Islands this past April, and the country still had a mask mandate in effect indoors at the time. People followed it because they had to, not because they wanted to. Everyone knew the police wouldn't check up on a bar at 10:30 PM, so bartenders wouldn't wear a mask until a new customer came in, just in case it was a snitch. Patrons also tended not to walk in with masks, either (or at least the locals). I picked up on it after a couple days and knew I could let my guard down when going out for drinks. My point is, I think you will find mask fatigue, especially from those that were vaccinated long ago, wherever you go. That's if they have a mandate in effect in the first place.

How long can I expect to test positive? We're going to a show this weekend and also supposed to try a delayed fathers day celebration with my parents, but I don't want to be passing them Covid.

But that there was significantly improved outcomes for vaccinated vs unvaccinated, with far fewer cases of severe illness and death.
June 22, 20223 yr Just going off of history, my guess is that we've got another 1.5-2 years or so of emergent COVID ahead of us, provided that we don't see an outbreak of any new, highly mutated strains. As long as the viral genetic code does not deviate too far from Omicron, I think we will see the virus continue to gradually become more benign as it lodges itself in the general population worldwide. By 1922, Spanish Flu had essentially disappeared as an epidemic, but its lineage continues to circulate among us as the common flu.

You'll test positive on a PCR for potentially up to a month. If you test negative for 2 straight days on a home test, you're pretty much good to go. Unfortunately the wife is really having trouble with it. She seemed to be getting better, but today is back in bed feeling like crap. So I'm now handling all parenting duties while also trying to catch up on missed time. Fortunately my boss is totally flexible and cool. But I still don't want to fall behind.

Last time I was in the area, I stopped in Malibu for a hot minute at the beginning of my trip, basically just enough time for a swim and a meal. It was really nice. Ended up at this nice, little beachside shack type restaurant that had awesome fish tacos and drinks. Definitely plan on going back and spending some more time there with the girlfriend this time around, as well as Venice Beach since I didn't get that in last time. The beach scenery that really blew me away, though, was when I stopped at Laguna on the drive to San Diego. Just incredibly beautiful and spotlessly clean all-around. It had some pretty nice shops and restaurants, too.

Malibu is just ridiculous. If you don't want to do Nobu, check out a place called Malibu Seafood on PCH. Kind of a shack where you order grilled of fried fish and sit outside. Obviously everything is very fresh. I got married in Dana Point, which is near Laguna/Newport Beach. Unreal scenery.
