That's Ramsay Hunt, which is a complication of shingles. Anyone who got chicken pox as a kid is at risk. If you're wondering how I know...

I woke up with scalp pain yesterday, pain got worse throughout the day, eye lid started to burn and tingle, bump formed on my scalp yesterday afternoon, then another, then one on my eyelid at night. This morning the pain was twice as worse, and then sharp pain in my upper teeth only on that side of my mouth. Went to the doc this morning and they think it's shingles. Started on a 7-day course of antivirals.

Pain is even worse now, it's almost unbearable, and they said it's likely to get worse. I didn't think you could get shingles in your 30's but apparently you can. Beiber is even younger than me and he had temporary facial paralysis from it. Worse yet, it can cause permanent blindness if your eye gets infected, so now I have to schedule an appt with an opthalmologist to get it looked at. Anyone who is eligible for the shingles vaccine should 100% get it while you can. I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.

Damn dude.  Sorry to hear it.

Consider yourself incredibly lucky. Shingles of the face is a living nightmare.

Get well soon. I've heard horror stories about shingles.

There's a vaccine for that....

I was too old for the chicken pox vaccine and am too young for the shingles one. Both of my kids got the former, so thankfully won't ever have to deal with this. If you're old enough for the latter, don't F around unless you wanna find out like I did.

This sounds like something Lynched might have to refer to a calendar for. No way he figures it out.

I hope everything goes well for you, and there's no residual results.  I'm really praying you don't get it in your eye and are threatened with blindness.

Sounds awful. Best of luck for a quick recovery.

Feel better soon man. My mom had shingles in her 50's and said it was the worst pain ever. She still talks about how awful it was now in her mid 70's. Good luck.

Thanks. The only pain I've had that's worse is when I had a kidney stone. That was the type of pain that made me wake up in the middle of the night, crawl to the bathroom, and curl up into the fetal position before my wife drove me to the ER at 4am (but still had the courtesy to F'ing stop at every red light despite not a soul to be seen for miles.) Threw up 5 times once I got to the ER and finally chilled out once my veins got pumped full of God knows what to help with the pain. So that ordeal was more intense and acute, but after 8 hours of agony, I went back to normal and got on with my life.

Meanwhile with this ish, I'm on Day 4 of misery that's more prolonged and with no end in sight. Oh and possible long-team nerve damage too boot. There are times when I wake up wondering if I was dreaming it all, then the shooting pain sets in and reminds me that it's reality.

The pain is indescribable. Like needles being jabbed into your nerve endings. And this is just day 2. The timing couldn't have been worse, might be the most important week of my career, doing a demo for the CTO on Thursday. Gonna try to fight through pain because there's really no other choice, just need to make it until then.

Damn man hope you get better soon

Get well soon WGB!

I had stress-induced shingles in my 20s.  It actually didn't hurt me at all, which no one that I've told it to can believe.  But it shot out from certain vertebrae and created these lines of inflamation at a downward angle.

I had the same thing in my early 40’s,minor pain but nothing hateful

Get well soon WGB!

My doc advised me not to get the flu and the shingles shot at the same time.  Didn't do shingles shot last year because of covid shots.  So, I'm due by the end of this year to get this vaccine.

Hang in there. It is only temporary and shingles will go away. I grew up in a time where it was common for parents to throw Chicken Pox parties (the vaccine wasn't prevalent yet), because common wisdom at the time was Chicken Pox is more mild as a young child than when you get older. Now many of my friends were susceptible and had shingles in their 20s and 30s, far too young to get the shingles vaccine. They're more likely to have a shingles outbreak again.

For the anti-vax crowd who says just let your natural defenses combat the virus... You don't know what this will do to you later in life. I'd rather take the controlled dose and be immunized, than leave it up to chance.

To be fair, googling Long Covid is different than having it.

Nevertheless, that graph does show that some parts of the country have moved on from the pandemic, and others are more infatuated with it.  Other things the same, you would think the cases of Long Covid would be about the same in every state.

He isn’t all that wrong about all the COVID measures, but he is dead wrong about the vaccines.

The promotion of the vaccines were lies at the start.

The whole time they were promoting that the vaccine would stem the transmission of the virus they knew it was never tested against transmission. As it turns out it can't. Never could.
